By the time he gets to the Hinata to be it's manager at the request of his Grandmother he's already got <insert degree # and subjects here>.
Nobody ever said "You can't fly" to one <character> when he was a kid, and he's so convinced that he can, in fact, fly that he's actually able to.
He recovered, thanks to his indomitable ki (spirit?), but he now has an unquenchable passion for knowledge and books.

Starcraft (probably from the PoV of a Protoss Commander, ie the player character/general):
No Executor expected to be a Legend when considering all the perils out there, especially the Zerg, but sometimes it was nice to dream of being one.
