SheÆd just hit me with everything she had, and I needed to get up and hit her back just as hard, harder. But I had trained yesterday, I had trained all day today, and it hurt too much to get up. She got that hit because I dropped my guard, distracted. And the blow had made me see stars. I couldnÆt fathom moving, much less going back to our fight. She had to be insane.
ôGet up, I say. What is that look?ö She crouched. ôWhat is it? You want someone to pick you up and say, Oh, poor baby, are you hurt? LetÆs get you out of here and cleaned upàö an expression crossed her face that was somewhere between revulsion and disdain. ôThatÆs bullshit. And itÆs never going to happen. DonÆt ever look at anyone like that again, Neliel. ThatÆs the weakest expression IÆve ever seen. You might as well be asking to be killed.ö
I gulped down a breath and nodded, slowly rolling over and getting up. She had the barest hint of a smile, more like a smirk on her features. A sign that she was happy with me, and happy with herself for teaching me the right lessons.

A weak person is a dead personà a weak person is the worst thing in the world.ö Her eyes seemed to cloud over, but then her gaze snapped back to me. ôYou will not give; you will not break. Ever. You will maintain your honor and strength and endure, no matter what. Is this clear?ö
ôYes, Thunderwitch-sensei.ö And then out of the blue, I hit her with everything I had. When my fist connected, I felt her jaw crumple and saw the flash of pain in the backs of her eyes, so tiny, so fast. Impossible to catch if one wasnÆt looking for it. And then she smiled, not smirked.

As things often unfold in these types of adventures, Artemis and Butler find themselves involved in the realm of all things metaphysical during the attempted heist. Namely, the resurrection of an old Goddess by the name of Isis who has a queer fondness of cats, entanglements with the Egyptian Mafia, and a sordid little affair involving both Captain Holly Short and Artemis himself.
Poor Butler ends up becoming quite knowledgeable about the ancient practice of mummification.

Grudges still persevere and what little peace was gained after the war dance precariously on a sword's edge. Avatar Aang, in his never ending quest to truly and completely bring the nations together as one, takes the world upon his shoulders, leaving little time to spare for his wife, Katara.
The Avatar decides to host a summit of sorts, where the dignitaries and rulers of various states could come together and work out their problems in a civilized manner with himself as the mediator. Crown Prince Zuko, forcibly accompanying Fire Lord Iroh to Aang's summit, can hardly bear to be in the same palace as the Avatar's wife and the woman he loves, not that she seems to care one whit about his feelings.
Zuko has a chance at love. Katara has a chance at freedom.
Love is rarely honorable and never fair.
