My genjutsu idea would work too. Tsunade could have put a seal on him to make him look like Arashi or something.

The main problem is twofold.

One, Tsunade's perma-genjutsu is tied in to her Genesis Rebirth seal, which is why it doesn't drop even when she's injured. Unless she put that same seal on Naruto, I can't see a way to make it permanent.

Second, and much more relevant: Tsunade was NOWHERE NEAR KONOHA when Kyuubi attacked. Jiraiya mentions he hadn't seen her since several years before the Kyuubi attack, if you recall. And she's the only one who knows how to do that particular genjutsu, apparently.

Again, KISS. Making up an excuse for Tsunade to be in Konoha for the occasion would drag in the not-irrelevant question of why the Third Hokage didn't order her into taking the Hokage mantle herself. He'd have the authority to do so. And she can't get anywhere near the kid without his permission anyway.

It'd make things complicated, and complicated is bad.

Looking at how "devoted" Soi Fon was to (mistress)Yoruichi, I'd say the chance of having Soi Fon as Naruto's mother is slim to none.
I mean when Yoruichi left Soul Society, Soi Fon was so affected that she held some sort of grudge against Yoruichi for a very long time(forgot the exact number but its a very long time)
Another reason is Soi Fon's rank and her team's role in soul society, i mean there's never a dull moment in her squad and her active lifestyle wont allow her to take some time (9+ months) to get out and have fun.

100+ years. Yoruichi left Soul Society (or whatever you want to call it) over a hundred years ago. Meaning Soi Fong has Sasuke beat for pure emo power.

Indeed, in order to use Soi Fon in this idea you have to make signifigant changes to her character. Any story where you have to change a character just to start the idea is awkward and almost never works well.

The only way I see the Soi Fon angle working just as well as using Yoruichi is if you write a fic about Soi Fon meeting Yondaime and put it up before this one. And that would be a very difficult fic to write.

Soi Fong was a fangirl more or less. She was shy before Yoruichi left. She admired her and when Yoruichi left, she felt betrayed, resulting in her cold personality afterwards. She originally was like Hinata.

I should point out that going by that same logic, if Yoruichi is Naruto's mom, the chances of him hooking up with Soi Fong are basically zero, if not less than that.

Thus, if a Naruto/Soi Fong pairing is planned, forget about the mom being Yoruichi. It's bad enough that Naruto is a clone of Ichigo personality wise, and Soi Fong dislikes Ichigo with a passion, but a clone of Ichigo who's the son of the person Soi Fong felt betrayed by? It'll be a cold day in Hell before anything besides insults and violence happens between them. Long-lasting grudges always hit the offspring, too. Sins of the fathers (or mothers) and all that.

Unless I'm mistaken, what Soi Fong dislikes in Ichigo is his tendency to act like a moron. From that point of view, he and Ichigo are identical.

And while she did partially get over it with Yoruichi, I still have a very hard time seeing her displaying any sort of interest towards Yoru's kid. Resentment doesn't simply go away, and you can tell she still resents her some. And that kind of feeling is generally projected on the immediate family of the recipient. In this case, Naruto.

Granted, you COULD try it, but it's going to be overly hard to believably pull off, because that kind of psychological setup causes things to develop slooooooowly. And by slowly I don't mean one chapter. I mean two or three COMPLETE MULTICHAPTER FICS. In real world terms, we'd be talking a couple dozen years just to get comfortable around Naruto, and that's with a normal, human-type grudge leftover.

Soi Fong angsted over Yoru for a HUNDRED YEARS. In her case, it's literally going to take a lifetime. Anything less, and it will look forced, especially given how she finds optimists irritating. And Naruto is King Optimist of the Puniverse, pretty much - seriously, hoping a bunch of bigots will change their minds even after 13 years of non stop mistreatment...

I don't seem to remember any scene in both anime and manga displaying Soi Fon's dislike towards Ichigo. I mean was there any scene where ichigo and soi met, crossed blades or just sat and talk? Her "deal" wit Ichigo was purely business, just following her orders. I don't even seem to recall her starting a dialogue where ichigo's a subject unless its about the ryokai incident.

Also the chances of having Soi and Naruto(having Yoru as his mom) hook up is higher than you think. Looking at Soi's submissive nature towards her mistress, opens up the posibility of her also submitting and loving her mistress' son.

I'm not sure about the interactions with Ichigo, but I'm pretty sure that she won't be kind towards Yoruichi simply because of the relation. Respectful, yes, but not submissive.

If anything, she'd be harsher on Naruto because he would be Yoruichi's son.

If a relationship did form, it certainly wouldn't be where one was simply submissive over the other. Even if it was, that would just be...boring.

Really, though, I don't care about what possible pairing is available when picking Naruto's mom. In the end, you can still build a better case for Naruto ending up with the canon characters, after all.

It would be easier to do if the back story was changed so that Yorichi actually said goodbye to Soi. That might also screw with too much to be simple.
