Finally Sambakza has released the third installment of the There she is series. A charming and cute Korean flash series about the relationship of Doki and Nabi in a city of Cats and Rabbits where the relationship between the two 'races' is frowned down on. The animation is amazingly well done, there always a lot of funny details and it mixes well with the music. It's a sweet story over all...

The story so far...

There She is!! Step 1

Step 1 - Doki (the bunny) falls for Nabi (the Cat) at first sight and begins pursuing him with stalker-like fevor. Uncomfortable with going outside the social norm (and Doki's rather scary persistance) he flees though in the end eventually gives in and starts seeing her, perhaps falling a little himself but waves it off...

There she is!! Step 2: Cake Dance

Step 2 - It's Doki's Birthday and Nabi has picked out a cake for the occasion having a treacherous trek across town trying to keep it all in one piece. Crowds pusha nd knock him over , gets chased by several strays (including a rhino o_O ) and end sup faced off against a group of rabbit thugs who think he's forcing himself on Doki with some rather smooth moves...

Doki waits patiently for Nabi positive he will show even turning down a nice cake brought by someone else. Nabi finally arrive sonly for the cake to be destroyed by the thugs right at the shop. The party goers and doki don't take well to this and give the thugs a lesson. Doki takes the ruined cake and loves it none the less showing her affection in the usual over the top manner and the party goes well until they get kicked out of the shop (reasons apparently because of their mixed relationship). It ends with nabi helping a young bunny navigate the streets with a cake of her own, again denying the growing affection he has for Doki.

There she is!! Step 3: Doki and Nabi *New!*

Step 3 - It's there first offical date, Doki remarks the occasion with her usual over the top attitude while Nabi avoids the madness with a rather bored, expected look. Despite that they both seem to be getting on well until Doki tries to take his arm. The stares begin and Nabi immediately shakes her off though tries to blame one of the no RabbitXCat romance signs that are seen around the city. Doki doesn't take it well and chases him a breif bit. The strays return and it's revealed that Doki take care of them even giving them green scarfs like Nabi wears. It finally seems Nabi's affection has grown to where he cant ignore it anymore... He tries to make a subtle move in the theater but it's missed.

Things look to get awkward after this, the thugs show up again getting in Nabi's face but Doki casually pwns the leader (who likes Doki) and they move on. They grow a bit distance here, even Doki seems to get the vibe. Nabi drops her off and starts to head home but seems to get an idea from all of the props Doki used earlier. Doki is reflecting on the date when Nabi returns with a small banner of his own... asking for a second date. Something readily agreed to.

The ends that night with Nabi getting off work and meeting Doki they share a snack and a kiss in the moonlight... though it ends rather ominously with a brick throw Nabi's window...

Step fours is scheduled to come out a month and a half from now and I really can't wait to see where this goes. They tells a sweet story with a good moral... high quality animation, great music and fun visuals... recommended to anyone with a heart.

I love this series, I always wonder just what the songs are saying though.

if you go to the English version of Sambakza's site there's a FAQ that has the translations of all three songs.

heh been three years since Step 2, I had been looking for it almost on a whim when I spotted it on new grounds. Hopefully it's true that the next one is coming out in a little over a month.

Ehh...

I don't think this one is up to par with the first two, personally. While the animation and such is as nice as ever, the problem is that it seems to be taking itself too seriously. It was cute, but not really in the same manner as the first two. Additionally, while the whole racism issue has always been part of it, there was also that whacky, high-pace spin on things.

*shrug* it's the progression of the story... with nabi finally acknowledging the relationship the story still needs to move forward. I do see a little of what you mean though I'm still interested to see where it goes.

Hehe, I did like this. It was more sombre than the previous Steps, but still rather enjoyable.

Anyone catch this? :p
