This is just a little thread for To Aru Majutsu no Index/Railgun discussions. Mostly dedicated to talking about favorite characters, theories, ideas as a whole on the subject as well as discussing anything else you might come up with, even fanfiction ideas. The main reason for this thread was basically inspired by discussions I've had on MSN and AIM with individuals of TFF about the Imagine Breaker, God's Right Seat, Kazakiri's powers and potential and Accelerator himself of course.

Which one of the girls interested in Touma do you think would suit him best as his girlfriend and potential wife, according to personal POVs?

For some reason I'm currently partial to the clone Misaka 10032, even though the Misaka network would probably make her share most of her experiences with Touma.

Logically? Fukiyose is his best social relationship, he gets along with her most naturally and with a lot less "rollercoaster syndrome". As for his "according to preferences?" The only one who fits the Archetype is Kanzaki, who's had the role of Older Sister to Index, though she's not exactly a landlady. Touma has a higher preference towards women older than him and more so towards "Onee-san Landlady" types. And yes Imouto is awesome and also gives Touma the biggest harem anime has ever seen..........ever.

But yeah, for me:

1. Itsuwa
2. Mikoto
3. Misaka 10032

To make it clear, I'm just referencing women that TOUMA might like or prefer, I'm not taking into account who loves him more/most

as long as it's not index. She's too immature, a leech, and keeps on biting his head.

Index is more of someone you "take care of" rather than a romantic partner. In other words, at best she's just a little sister(lol irony)

I found him so uninteresting that after watching Index I almost didn't watch railgun, which would have been a shame, as Railgun is awesome. So I guess I ship ToumaxBus.

One question that I can think of that some people will fight over is:

Do you think Touma is stupid?

I tend to think that BECAUSE He's in Academy City, they're going to give out homework related to esper abilities/Quantim Physics he's going to have trouble with that (just like most people would). Also wouldn't you say that lower level people would have the same problem? I think that if you tested Touma on normal non-esper related problems, he would do relatively well.

It's mentioned/shown in volume 20 when Lessar stated Touma is extremely smart in some aspects, but not others and that Touma has a decent grasp on Physics when he calculated the flight path of an HsB-02 flying past.

I admit that he has foot-in-mouth syndrome from time to time and that he does his moments of stupidity, but I don't think that he truly IS stupid.

Like most people, he has his moments. Some people have no common sense. And that's fine.

Touma isn't an idiot, but he also isn't a genius.

Though in terms of fighting prowess. He is able to learn tactics very well, and you see him improving his fighting ability and knowledge of fighting magicians and such over the series.

Though I wouldn't say he was a fighting genius either. A lot of his wins have been from being underestimated, a random incident that allows him a chance, or just pure endurance on his part.

I'd say he has average intelligence for the most part.

I've gone over this with ADD before but my theory on how the different powers work in To Aru.

Magic: External guide for the power. Basically you are using outside means of directing power.

Esper: Internalized guide for the power. Basically put, you are designing your own magic book inside of your mind and body that decides how the energy flows through you.

Saints/God's Right Seat: Borrows designs from a Divine type of Being to guide the power.

This would explain why Saints/Espers can't use normal magic because their bodies are already set to flow power a certain way and the outside influences tears through the already set path.

You forgot that class, :p

Touma is an extreme version in the Saint category.
... who made Accelerator feel like his head was about to be ripped in half, when he tried to analyze Touma's power. Has Accelerator encountered Saints, and if so, what effect did they have on him?

Like I said, he's an extreme version.

And by extreme version, I mean he's pretty much the most powerful type of Saint there possibly could be.

The Imagine Breaker, He hasn't encountered a Saint but he has encountered the angel Gabriel and has recently become one himself, it had no effect on his mental state none whatsoever and neither has Aiwass affected him in a similar manner other than ignoring his defences.

Just how does Imagine Breaker work? We know it can block attacks, but it apparently blocks teleportation and telepathy. Is there any indication why that is, and what other type of attacks it blocks without raising his hand?

It pretty much destroys all other types of powers.

Yes, but what if the telepathy was aimed at his head? Because it could be it was just shoved through his body. Are there certain types of powers that he's just plain immune to, instead of the ones he has to block with his fist?

It seems any power that requires involvement of his right arm in any way is nullified.
