While i have no problem with metal *actually it seems that i'm getting metal all the time.... * and my deuterium reserves are faring quite well, i could part with some crystals once my raiding party returns.

Eh... you'll have to send less than 5000 deut then. Cargo ships also include the deuterium for the trip, which is used up at takeoff. Sucks, but is true.

How about 4500 deut for 14000 metal?

Not really. The cost of deut is negligable if you're trading any real amount of resources. It only costs about 25 deut to send a Sm. Cargo into the neighboring galaxy at top speeds. If you're trading in the thousands, the cost is close to nothing.
