Transition issues (just a place to report them)

Figured this would be a good place to put general known or recently known issues users might experience as we transition from the invisionfree boards.

First thing that should be fairly obvious is that you guys will have to remake any links you have made on the invisionfree board. They have come up as just text showing how that board codes a link or something.

The links will be fixed momentarily.

And by momentarily, I mean they are. Enjoy.

Are other people seeing punctuation characters among other things occasionally being replaced with "" in pre-move posts? Or is it just me? I don't really see a set rhyme or reason to why certain characters were replaced and others weren't...

Sorry if this has already been addressed elsewhere. I imagine it is just a move issue, but I just wanted to ask. It's probably also not really fixable from the ACP or something like that, so I guess I'll just deal with it... *sigh*

It's an encoding error. We're looking at options to fix it. There aren't many, and none of them are great.

nick012000 reports that his account here is already banned somehow. This is from the old TFF. I don't know the details, I'm just putting it here from there.

A general... perhaps not 'problem'... is there any need for individual members, some of whom haven't posted in years having their own rant forums?

I've never talked to Genocide Heart or Israfel, and I'm never going to enter a forum specifically for these people to rant in. And Hawk doesn't even use TFF anymore, let alone this version.

Are they going to stay?

I actually remember talking with you in miscellaneous topics here and there. So it's not like we're total strangers.

Why don't you pop in my rants forum and check the topics there out? You may actually find something you may like to give your input on. I don't mind if you disagree... my posts in there are meant to spark debate and cause differing points of view to be presented. ;)

Hope to see you there sometime.

Anyway, transition issues... I'd suggest making the lemon forum a membership group thing, since the option does exist on this board. Having to input a password every time is annoying after a while, and saving it in the browser isn't an option as it overwrites the password for the login, at least on Firefox.

And of course, the coding issue that causes all "s to appear as question marks in a box.

Two points I'd like to... well... point out:

1) "Mark All Forums Read" doesn't seem to work, it just gives "Authorization code mismatch. Are you accessing this function correctly? Please go back and try again." Individually marking forums works alright.

2) Is there any plans for adding that "members are celebrating their birthday today"?

Hello, thar. Meinos Kaen here... On a new account, because someone filled my inbox JUST as the PMs were going out. Can I be merged with my old account, please? I'd like to keep the old nickname, please.

GH: For the password thing, I was able to get it to work in Opera by clicking the checkbox for saving password for this page only, If Firefox has something similar, that could solve your issue.

kuopiofi: For the birthday thing to work, you will have to re-enter your birthday. I noticed that mine was not kept in the transition. I don't know if that function is on this forum or not though.

Hey everyone, this is preb34 from the Icyboards support forums.

1) "Mark All Forums Read" doesn't seem to work, it just gives "Authorization code mismatch. Are you accessing this function correctly? Please go back and try again." Individually marking forums works alright.
This thread should provide a fix:
http://forums.icyboards.net/showthread.php?tid=644

Just pointing this out :)

That function works with the 'Default' theme already. It seems that it might have issues with the 'Use Default' and 'Nostalgia' themes.

It started working for me as soon as I switched to the default theme.

Mark as read is fixed.

Encoding I'm looking at options for. None of them are good.

We're looking at various options for the restricted forums and what to do with them- we know this isn't optimal. Hang tight!

Additional issue: Most links to the old forums and to external sites display only partially, having ... in the middle somewhere. This is not just for the text, but also for the href address itself. You may have to pull them again somehow, because that's a lot of data gone.

Note that this doesn't seem to apply to text which was manually hyperlinked, only to addresses that were written in plain text and hyperlinked automatically.

Ehm. "Mark as read is fixed." Not for me."Authorization code mismatch. Are you accessing this function correctly? Please go back and try again."
The link is just http://thefanfictionforum.net/misc.php?action=markread&fid=50
That's from trying to mark Ranma 1/2 talk forum as read.

This isn't exactly a transition idea, but I don't feel like starting a new thread for it. Is it possible to change the code for the glasses smiley from B) to B-)? I've seen many cases where people do a) b) lists and the second gets turned into a smiley.
