The last call for the train echoes over the platform. The dean could not be there, so Takamichi is there in his place. Covered from head to toe in bandages, Naruto glares death at Jiraiya behind the windows, who waves with a cheeky grin. Takamichi sweat drops. The whistle sounds and the train takes off, quickly disappearing into the distance.

A sigh. “Hey, Takamegane, could I live with you for a bit? The apartment I was living at with Ero-sennin before was being paid for by the dean and I don’t really want to rack up anymore debt.”

“Actually Jiraiya-san and the dean already worked something out for you.”

Blue eyes blink. Look skeptically up at the bespectacled teacher. “Huh?”

“You’ll be living with another in the service of the Konoe family in the student dorms. Actually, I think the two of you might get along pretty well.”

“Really?” the two turn to leave, walking alongside each other, Naruto’s eye-blindingly orange outfit drawing nearly as many stares as the bandages visible through the ruined orange fabric.

Takamichi nods. “I can take you to meet them if you want to before tomorrow but there are some things we need to take care of first.”

A small flame is generated with a click of the lighter, igniting the end of the cigar that hangs lazily between his lips.

“First we need to get you acquainted with the area. More than likely Konoemon-sama will just have you run errands unless something
important comes up. After that we need to go shopping. Towels, soap, a tooth brush and a new set of cloths.”

Naruto blinks. Looks down, just noticing the ragged state of his trusted orange jacket and pants. The only pair of cloths he has in this world. There is a guttural rumbling and he grabs his stomach in embarrassment, chuckling sheepishly. Letting out a chuckle of his own, Takamichi smiles.

“Though I guess we can get something to eat first. Is there anything you want? My treat.”

Twelve bowls of ramen later finds one satisfied Naruto and one slightly despairing Takamichi at a clothing store. Konoemon had granted the whiskered boy a small sum of money that he wouldn't have to pay back to buy him new cloths, if only to help the boy appear more inconspicuous. Orange and black seem to be the colors the whiskered boy favored most, choosing most of his clothing in such a pattern.

Takamichi is pleasantly surprised. Apparently the boy did not dress like an orange eyesore just to dress like an orange eyesore.

The rest of the afternoon goes by fairly quickly. The two make their rounds, stopping to buy whatever Naruto might need. They talk,
Takamichi lecturing Naruto about magic and the things he needs to know about this world.

“So this person is kinda like my senpai right?”

His torn up jacket and pants have been replaced by an orange hoodie and black pants, orange strips running down the sides. The bandages have been discarded, his minor wounds from his scuffle with Jiraiya long healed. The headband bearing the symbol is his village rests in his pocket, the scroll containing his bags in his other pocket and the green gem of the Shodai's necklace rests on his chest.

"I guess you could say that." Takamichi responds. The train is relatively empty, only the odd few running last minute errands the day before the start of school. The sun has just begun to dip below the horizon, engulfing the sky in the color of flame.

The train jerks to a stop, the conductor announcing they have arrived at their stop. They stand. Exit the train and continue on their way.

"Konoemon-sama has a job for you tomorrow." Takamichi says as they enter what appears to be the student dorms. "A young mage by the name of Negi is going to be taking over one of my classes for his training. He's a friend of mine. Very smart, very talented but he's still just a child. The dean would like you to watch over him for his first day here and make sure that he stays out of trouble."

“Alright. That sounds easy enough.”

Ascending the stairs, Takamichi stops at one of the doors. Curiously Naruto glances at the nameplate.

'Sakurazaki Setsuna'

"Setsuna-kun should have been notified by Konoemon-sama. If anything comes up, feel free to contact me or the dean.”

They exchange goodbyes, leaving Naruto alone in front of the door. Wondering what kind of person his roommate will be, he knocks on the door with his friendliest smile.

The door opens to reveal a feminine face, a few centimeters taller than him. Brown eyes, pale skin and black hair tied into a side
ponytail, the two stare at each other for a moment. A single black eyebrow perks.

“Can I help you?”

Naruto blinks. Once. Twice. He allows his eyes to roam from sharp brown eyes, to the school uniform, to the skirt and legs and back up. Not out of perversion but for an entirely different reason.

When Naruto had been informed he would be living with someone he assumed it would be a boy. For the simple reason that most would say it is inappropriate for boys and girls to be living together at his age. That belief was enforced when Takamichi referred to his roommate as ‘Setsuna-kun’. While Setsuna is a fairly gender ambiguous name, -kun is typically used to refer to males. So one could not blame Naruto for assuming his roommate to be a male.

The gears in his head begin to turn on dilapidated, rust covered hinges, the memory of a certain far too feminine boy drifting to the
forefront of his mind, and Naruto, in typical Naruto fashion, opens his mouth to ask without thinking.

“Are you a boy?”

'Sakurazaki Setsuna'

"Setsuna-kun should have been notified by Konoemon-sama. If anything comes up, feel free to contact me or the dean.”

They exchange goodbyes, Takamichi quickly taking his leave. Alone, Naruto stands in front of the door. Wondering what kind of person his roommate will be, he puts on his friendliest smile and knocks on the door.

The door opens to reveal a feminine face, standing a few centimeters taller than him. Brown eyes, pale skin and black hair tied into a side ponytail, he idly notes the absurdly large katana clenched in their hand. A single black eyebrow perks.

“Can I help you?”

Naruto blinks. Once. Twice. He allows his eyes to roam from the sharp brown eyes, to the school uniform, to the skirt and legs and back up. Not out of perversion but for an entirely different reason.

When Naruto was told he would be living with someone, he assumed it would be a boy for the simple reason that most would say that it’s inappropriate for boys and girls to be living together at his age. That belief was enforced when Takamichi referred to his roommate as ‘Setsuna-kun’. While Setsuna is a fairly gender ambiguous name, -kun is typically used to refer to males. So one could not blame Naruto for assuming his roommate to be a male.

Yet the person standing in front of him, the person who is most likely the one Konoemon and Jiraiya arranged for him to live with, most definitely appears to be female.

The gears in his head begin to turn on dilapidated, rust covered hinges, trying to consolidate the idea of his ‘male’ roommate with the image before him and failing miserably. The memory of a certain far too feminine boy drifts to the forefront of his mind, and Naruto, in typical Naruto fashion, opens his mouth to ask without thinking.

“Are you a boy?”

-0-0-

“Ouch!”

The medicine stings against one of the many cuts that litter his body. He hears voices from behind the door to the dean’s office. The sound of Setsuna, or as Naruto recently dubbed her ‘crazy sword bitch’, arguing with Konoemon.

“Honestly, Naruto-kun.” Takamichi sighs, applying the bandage to Naruto’s cheek. “What did you do to Setsuna-kun?”

From what he remembers, the girl was far more reserved than that. Luckily the streets were fairly empty and the few that bore witness to Setsuna chasing Naruto through the streets with had drawn their own conclusions.

“I didn’t do anything!”

Takamichi fixes the boy with a look. The same look he would use on children that refused to admit what they did wrong.

“Naruto-kun…”

“Ok, I may have asked her if she was a boy.” he admits with a petulant pout. “But I still don’t think that warrants getting a sword pulled on me!”

"Ah..." In all honesty, Takamichi isn't too surprised. Not that Setsuna snapped and tried to slice the whiskered boy in two but that Naruto was able to so easily piss off the normally calm and stoic swordswoman.

Really. The boy has a kind of gift.

Still, if there is anything Takamichi learned from being a teacher it is that there are always two sides to any story. Naruto's brief moment of stupidity really shouldn’t have been enough to get someone like Setsuna to come at him with her blade.

He can only imagine the thoughts that had gone through his former student’s head to get her to react like that.

“Wait. Why did you ask her if she was a boy?”

“Well… when you told me I’d be living with someone I kinda thought they’d be a guy.”

At Takamichi’s questioning look Naruto shrugs.

“Remind me to tell you about Haku sometime.”

Before the teacher can respond, the door to the dean’s office slams open. A familiar dark haired girl stomps out, sword in hand, and fixes Naruto with a glare.

“Fight me.”

Why would Setsuna just challenge Naruto upfront like that? Is it because she's heard that he's supposed to be helping her guard Konoka or something?

Edited the last scene a little. I'm horrible at transitioning power levels across manga so I have a question for those that are better than me. How badly would a pre time-skip Naruto get his ass kicked by Setsuna?

Think... Neji fight, only since his chakra isn't getting sealed with each blow, he won't have to rely on the Kyuubi to fix that.

Pretty much, Naruto will be loosing the fight, only to deal critical blows at openings created by being henge'd into something else, pretending to be a clone or having hidden himself a while ago. You know, like a ninja. Which reminds me that Neji's Byakugan wasn't able to distinguish Naruto from his clones.

On the other hand, Setsuna may have some sparring practice against/with Kaede, which means that she won't necessarily fall to the first ploy. But for all that this fight is Pre-timeskip, it is post-VotE, where Naruto has done nothing but come up against enemies with higher power, higher skill or both and either survived or thrived.

tl;dr: Think of how Setsuna would fare against Neji, and then realize that Naruto won that fight not by overpowering the other kid but by out-ninja'ing him.

Not bad at all to be honest.

First of all, stat Naruto. Loosely at least. Think of where he is in terms of power. This is not the same kid who gets his ass kicked in seconds by Rock Lee in the Chuunin exams. This is the guy who went at with Sasuke in the VoE. The implications there are huge. For one, it means Naruto has the speed to hang in there with a guy who has that level of super speed. Then take into account some of his physical stunts like being able to stand up after a gigantic snake falls on his leg.

Then Setsuna. She's pretty badass. Granted, she's not at her end manga levels (not even at her tournament levels to be honest). But she has get some good stats from her ki enhancement (even someone like early Asuna got to be knife proof... though that may be thanks to the amount of power Neg supplied come to think of it) and can casually slice boulders. Plus, the standard swordsman from her style can apparently block bullets if we take Tsukuyomi at her word. She also probably has some ranged ki attacks at this point. I think.

Now for the limitations, neither Naruto or Setsuna are going to go all out. Especially Setsuna due to the whole hiding she's part demon thing. No wings for her. Similarly, Naruto is not going to use Kyuubi chakra and he's probably not even going to use a Rasengan. Not one even remotely close to full power at least, 'cause really that shit is dangerous.

Edit: All that said, Setsuna asking for a fight in the first place is not really Setsuna-ish.

She's too... respectful I guess is the word. If Konoemon gives the order, she might not like but she'd grin and bear (okay not grin because Setsuna, but she'd bear it).

Yeah, I was actually thinking that too. I rewrote the part starting from when Naruto asks Setsuna if she's a guy.

Takamichi pauses, looking back in the general direction of where he just came from.

“Why do I get the feeling Naruto just did something really stupid?”

A moment passes. And he shrugs, continuing on his way home.

-0-0-

“Are you some kind of idiot?”

The reply is not unwarranted. In fact it summarized how Naruto felt about himself pretty well at the moment. But even so, he has to be sure.

“I’m really sorry but I am very confused at the moment and this is something I really need to know.”

His- Her- Their eye twitches and their hand seems to inch towards the package on their back but nevertheless, they answer.

“Yes, I am female. Who are you?”

“And you’re Setsuna, er, -san.” He says, pausing to add the honorific at the tightening of the pale skinned girl’s expression. No need to dig himself a bigger hole than he already has.

“Yes.”

“Sakurazaki Setsuna-san.”

“Yes.” She says, the subtle signs of irritation slipping through her stoic mask.

“…I am going to kill Ero-sennin when I get my hands on him.”

“If you have no business with me then I would ask you to leave.” Setsuna says, anger slipping into her tone. “I am expecting someone and don’t have the time to keep fooling around with you.”

“Er, I think that might be me.” At her questioning look, he sighs. He really should have expected something like this from the old pervert.

“My name is Uzumaki Naruto… and apparently I’m your new roommate.”

She blanches.

-0-0-

Konoemon looks up from his signed, limited edition Icha Icha at the frantic banging on his door. Of course he knows who his visitors are. He’s been expecting it since he first arranged it with Jiraiya. Slipping his precious book away he folds his hands over his desk, for all appearance looking to be the veritable old wizard that he is.

“Come in.”

The door slams open. Loudly. But what follows is even louder as Naruto stomps into his office, Setsuna following behind at a slightly more sedate pace.

“Oi, what in the hell oji-san?! Why’d you arrange for me to live with a girl?!”

“There, there, calm down Naruto-kun.” He turns from the whiskered boy to the girl silently fuming behind him. “I assume you are here for the same reason?”

A nod. “When you told me I would be living with someone who working for you I was under the impression that they were a female. It is inappropriate for boys and girls to be living together at our age.”

“Yeah! So why’d you stick us together old man –ttebayo?!”

“So that when and if the time comes, the two of you will be able to work together.”

Naruto tilts his head in confusion. Setsuna’s lips thin into a straight line. Konoemon opens a single eye to gaze upon the two teenagers.

"To pay off his debt, Naruto-kun's master hired off his student's services as a shinobi until the time arrives when they are able to find a way home. For the most part, Naruto-kun will simply be acting as an errand boy. My hands and ears in the academy so to speak."

"However, I am not naive. I do not believe the grounds of Mahora to be an impenetrable fortress. When the time comes that either of your strengths alone is not enough and the two of you find yourselves where help cannot reach you, I wish for the two of you to be able to work together. To produce something greater than the sum of their parts."

Naruto grumbles. The value of teamwork is one he knows well, but at the same time...

He turns back to the old mage to try to somehow convince him that it is wrong. Immoral and inappropriate. But before he can, a voice interrupts him.

"I... understand Konoemon-sama."

His head twists to the side so quickly he is sure there is a snap. Gaping he stares at the girl who avoids his gaze, eyes hazy as though she is seeing something else.

"If that is your intention then I have no qualms with this arrangement." she says, unknowing or uncaring of Naruto's plight. "As long as we are able to respect each other's privacy-"

"Now, hold on here!" Naruto sputters, heat gathering in his cheeks. "If you want us to work together isn't there some way other than us living together? Can't you just send the two of us on missions or something together?!"

To his side, Setsuna shakes her head. "No, I would be too busy with school, training and other duties. While not ideal, this is the most convenient method..."

"Hohoho, and there you have it. Why so reluctant Naruto-kun? Most boy's your age would be more than glad to live alone with a girl."

Setsuna twitches, glaring slightly at the dean. Naruto snarls, slamming his hands on the dean's desk.

"How did he do it?" he all but hisses. "What did Ero-sennin use to bribe you? This reeks of that deprived pervert's work!"

"I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about." the old mage shrugs, discreetly nudging a certain small orange book further into its hiding place. "If you feel that strongly about it, I could arrange for you to live on some other part of the campus... of course you would either have to pay rent or start attending classes so that we could register you as a student."

Konoemon meets Naruto's glare, the boy's resolve crumbling before his eyes at the prospect of having to return to school.

"Really it’s your choice."

I'm worried I overpowered Naruto in this. My headcanon is that shinobi are superhuman compared to civilians and while Kuu Fei is super strong, she is still a normalish human.

Continuing the trend of a younger Naruto pissing off every girl he meets(I might expand on the Chachamaru scene later):

-0-0-

They walk through the streets of Mahora, back to their dorm room. Setsuna is silent. Naruto grumbles about ‘perverted old bastards’ and ‘ridiculous rodent looking super eyebrows, at some point devolving into how he wouldn’t become a pervert like just about every adult figure in his life.

“I don’t get it. How is living together even supposed to help us work together?!”

“It will allow us to get to know each other better.” He pauses, looking behind him as his new roommate speaks for the first time since they left the dean’s office.

“One of the most important aspects of teamwork is trust. After that it is simply reacting to each other’s queues and acting in tandem. I suppose the point of us living with each other is simply to build up trust. The rest will follow.”

“Ugh… I guess…”

Soon enough they part ways, Setsuna returning to their living quarters, Naruto opting to explore for another hour or two before dinner.

“This place is huge…”

Exploring Mahora he munches on a nikuman, a free sample handed to him by a girl with long green hair and weird attachments on her head where her ears would be. At his thanks the girl merely nodded, recommending a place called Chao Bao Zi whilst staring at his whisker marks the whole time.

“They do kind of standout…” Naruto mumbles with his mouth full, finishing his snack. “Oji-san told me it would be best if I could blend in with the students… maybe I should get something to cover them up.”

The image of him wearing a face mask in the same style as Kakashi pops into his mind and he grins. He still has to find out what his sensei is hiding under that mask of his once he gets back home.

He walks around for a bit more, taking in the sights in the areas he didn’t visit with Takamichi before he comes across trouble. A group of shady looking guys surrounding a girl with tan skin and blond hair done up in twin tails. When they move to attack her he acts without thinking for the second time that day.

One would think he'd have learned by now.

While Naruto’s taijutsu was never something to brag about in the academy, it was one of the first things Jiraiya fixed after coming to this world. While still nothing to brag about, it has improved by leaps and bounds.

There is no chakra cloak of the Kyubi to supplement it as his teacher intended, but it is still more than enough to handle these schoolyard bullies.

They go down easy enough, the power behind Naruto’s blows being enough to fell a grown man with one strike. Yet as he finishes the last of the attackers, a large shirtless man with boxing gloves, he can’t help but feel he has done something terribly, terribly wrong.

“Hey, are you-“ he turns to ask only to duck under a palm strike and block the elbow follow up. “Oi, what the hell –ttebayo!”

“You are strong –aru! I’ve never seen you around here before!” his attacker's eyes sparkle and he blanches as she strikes again.

The blows flow into each other and Naruto jumps back to make some distance. The tan skinned girl launches herself at him and he anchors himself to the ground with chakra, catching her arms. “Why are you attacking me? I was just trying to help!”

“You mean you aren’t here to challenge me?”

He frantically shakes his head. The girl’s shoulder’s slump for a moment before her eyes light up once more.

“Well then I challenge you! My name is Kuu Fei! Fight me –aru!”

The newly identified Kuu Fei twists in his grip, leaping into a kick, all while flashing him with the short skirt of her school uniform. The same one Setsuna was wearing, he idly notes. Throwing her back he takes his stance, a small grin on his face.

He wasn’t supposed to train today… but if someone challenges him then there’s nothing he can do about it is there?

“My name is Uzumaki Naruto!" he shouts with a grin. "I accept your challenge –ttebayo!”

Leaping forward he takes the initiative, Kuu Fei meeting him with gusto. He kicks at her and she dodges, landing two, three, four blows to his chest. He throws two jabs, forcing her to break her combo before jumping and kicking her back.

There are no holes in her stance, no openings for him to exploit. Whatever form of taijutsu the girl is using, she has honed it to perfection.

He blocks a punch with both arms, lashing out with a kick before she can flow into another series of strikes. He belts her across the face, slamming his elbow into her stomach and kicking her back.

"You're good. Really good." he grins. "I haven't fought anyone as good at taijutsu as you since Neji."

"You're not too bad yourself -aru!" she grins, rubbing her cheek and the bruise she can already feel developing. The form he is using is sloppy but he takes her blows without even flinching and hits like a truck. Tensing she lunges at him, fist cocked back.

He deflects the punch, steps back to avoid the elbow strike and catches the knee. He retaliates with a punch and she ducks, wrapping a hand around his bicep and slamming a palm into his chest.

He stumbles back. An elbow strike follows a punch and he manages to recover just in time to flip back from a sweep aimed at his legs.
She follows him, leaping through the air with a kick and flashing him once again. Ducking under the flying girl he spins, fist cocked back.
She catches his punch, throwing a punch of her own that he catches as well.

"Is this your hundred percent?" he asks, the muscles in his arms straining slightly to hold the tan skinned girl. She shakes her head.

"Not quite -aru. You?"

He answers her with a grin. Using brute strength he pushes her back, the tan skinned girl's eyes widening before she is thrown into the air. Kuu Fei lands, quickly regaining her barring only to find herself on the defensive as Naruto falls upon her.

The first punch shatters her guard, the second driving into the her gut and driving the breath from her lungs. Powering through the pain she catches the third punch, turning and preparing to throw her opponent.

Only for him not to budge.

Knuckles drive into her spine, and her back forcibly straightens, his arm slipping from her grasp. Naruto brings his hands together and he says, in an almost teacherly and sage-like voice.

"You should never let your enemy get behind you."

In that instant she feels it. A sense of foreboding, as though something horrible is about to happen and there is nothing she can do about it. A memory sheared into her mind for the rest of her life.

"Konoha Hiden Taijutsu Ougi: Sennen Goroshi!"

For the all adult figures in Naruto's life are perverts, this remind me a fic where Naruto learned fuinjutsu as child and tried to use this knowledge to send Kyubi to the Shinigami and ended to send her, yes her, to the summon realm.
To thank him for freeing her, she activated his genes for the rinnegan but to take revenge on the "try to send her soul to the shinigami" took most of the abilities outside the five elemental affinities to remplace with abilities oriented toward manipulations of pain and pleasures, and give him a specific set of her memories and screwed with Naruto's subsconcious to give him something that for him was a curse:MAKING HIM A PERVERT.
Oh the sublime
that followed.

Better, Chakra!Kushina appeared after this and said that she managed to save his chakra chains from the changes but that she is not so upset about it because she wants a lot of grandchildren.
And later, we discovers that before her death she has the complete collection of Icha Icha.

Well, you're kind of right. Naruto ninja do have super human stats since early on. Beginning of the manga Sasuke could probably break most our Olympic records to say nothing of Post Wave Sasuke and Naruto... and even Sakura. On the other hand, if you're treating Naruto as super human and Ku Fei as not, then the lack of super speed from Naruto in comparison to Ku Fei kind of jumps out since super speed is the most notable stat for Naruto ninja for a long time.

Which brings to the next point, is Ku Fei not super human? 'cause really, the girl knows how to use Ki. She obviously learned it at some point, but it's hard to say when did she do it. What we do know is she's definitely inferior when compared to someone like Mana (and by extension Kaede. Setsuna too to be honest).

Edit: Also, ouch. I feel for you Ku Fei. I really do.

My memory is spotty on this, but I'm fairly sure Kuu doesn't really master Ki until after the tournament. Before that her Ki abilities were minor.
She used it subconciously to buff herself before then.

So Kuu is by no means a normy, but she's not knowledgable enough to effectively use her super powers.

But she's uses her pure skill to make up for that until she eventually learns about magic in general.

As for Naruto, he's (probably) at about this level of strength.

Isn't it canon that Naruto is physically stronger than Sasuke though?

Well, I'm not sure if I'm getting fanon mixed up with canon but I'm pretty sure that one of Naruto's biggest problems was his speed until he got Sage Mode/Kyubi Mode(Sasuke had speed but Naruto had raw, brute strength). That's why Kuu Fei is able to keep up with him until he goes full power. Also Naruto kinda cheated by using Chakra to anchor himself to the ground and create an opening.

As for Kuu being a normal human I mean normal in the scope that she can't use Magic or Ki(yet).

That said here's another kind of short snippet. I might have to break the trend of Naruto pissing everyone off just because I'm not sure how he could piss off a certain kunoichi. But I guess that might not be a bad thing.

-0-0-

“So how did Naruto react to his new roommate? Anger? Shock? Disbelief?”

“All of the above.” Konoemon chuckles. “Immediately he accused his teacher. I’m beginning to think he believes all the adults in his life aside from you are perverts, Takamichi-kun.”

“It’s a phase.” Smiling Takamichi hands the dean a folder. “I went through something similar while I was with Ala Rubra. He’ll grow out of it.”

Leaning back into his chair he takes a puff of his smoke. “So what are we going to do about Naruto’s training? Jiraiya-san wants him to keep working on controlling the power of the Kyubi but I’m not confident we’ll be able to contain something that powerful if it goes wild.”

“Indeed. This ‘Biju’ Jiraiya spoke of is cause for concern… though there is one person who should be able to handle it…”

Takamichi frowns, knowing just who the dean is talking about. “I’d prefer not to get her involved but she would probably be able to help Naruto more than me. I’m not very good at magic theory and would only be able to help him develop his natural instincts. She’d probably be able to help him develop his particular system of magic as well, maybe even aid him in controlling the power of the beast inside of him.”

A nod. “I’ll talk to her later this week, after Naruto-kun’s had a few days of rest. It shouldn’t be too hard to convince her to take the boy in. She’s already expressed interest in meeting him.”

Takamichi perks an eyebrow in question. Konoemon shrugs.

“She can sense the demon behind the seal, even with Naruto-kun’s massive amount of Ki masking its presence. The only reason she hasn’t already made contact is because I bribed her with Icha Icha. It’s keeping her occupied for now but soon she will seek another outlet to relieve her boredom.“

“Well, at least it’ll shift her focus away from Negi-kun for the time being. He-“ There is a ringing that interrupts him. Reaching into his pocket Takamichi takes out his phone and Konoemon gives the man a moment to answer it.

“Yes. Thank you for telling me Shizuna.”

The phone is closed. Slid into his pocket and the bespectacled teacher, slowly and without a word, palms his face.

“Did something happen Takamichi-kun?”

“Naruto got into a fight in the captain of the Chinese Martial Arts Club. In the center of a crowded street.” He removes his glasses, rubbing his eyes in frustration. In exasperation.

“He beat her with a super powered kancho.”

Well he did stop a giant snake, even if it was while he was juiced up by Kurama...

Isn't it canon that Naruto is physically stronger than Sasuke though?
Not really.

It's never been stated at least.

You could make the argument that he is, but it would be fairly arbitrary. In Shippuden I could believe it. During the time-skip though? Any difference would be minor.

Naruto's speed has never really been a "problem" though he is slower than Sasuke. The only time I remember it being a problem was vs Kiba when he had fucked up chakra control, then Sasuke because Sharingan.

What I was trying to say is Kuu Fei can use Ki at this point in the story. Its just she has no formal training for it yet, so no Ki blasts, only Body Buffs.

Pro Tip: Keade hates / is scared of frogs. What animal can Naruto summon at will?

Answer:

Toads.

But they are so similar in appearence you can get away with it.

Yeah, you're kind of getting your fanon mixed up.

Naruto is not as fast as Sasuke. That's not a knock against him. That's saying Sasuke is really fast. Kind of like how Naruto supposedly doesn't have Taijutsu skill when that was actually the one thing he was good at back at the Academy.

Let me put it this way, any ninja, by default, has super human speed. Even Sakura.

As for Naruto, this is him back at the chuunin exams:

By the time of the VoE, if there is a difference in speed, it is not a big one going by the results of Naruto and Sasuke rushing at each other (one of them with a Chidori in hand so we know it's at top speed):

Strength and durability wise you have Naruto doing stuff like this in the Tsunade Arc:

He and Sasuke should be in the same ballpark to be honest.

Ugh, this is why i suck at trying to transition power levels. So is
Naruto holding back < Kuu Fei without Ki < Naruto < Kuu Fei with Ki about right with Naruto winning by outlasting Kuu?

Two more snippets, the next two girls Naruto will meet. I edited the end of the Kuu Fei scene a little to include Naruto's speed as per TC and Ashaman's suggestions. But other than that, I think I'll leave the Kuu Fei scene as it is because I want to save Kuu Fei using Ki to use for an all out fight scene rather than just the introductory scene. As far as Kaede goes, even with her dislike of frogs I don't think she would get too angry at Naruto because of that. Annoyed maybe but not angry.

The first punch shatters her guard, the second driving into her gut and driving the breath from her lungs. She powers through the pain, swinging at him only for him to disappear in a blur. From behind her she hears, in an almost sage-like and teacherly voice.

The scene with Takamichi and Konoemon would go here.

“Thank you for bringing her here Naruto-kun. That was very responsible of you.” Shizuna says, putting the unconscious Kuu Fei to rest in one of the cots in the infirmary. Following behind her, a boy with whiskered cheeks, scratches said cheeks with a single finger.

“Ah, it’s no problem. It’s not like I could just leave her there.”

Shizuna smiles at the boy, beginning to understand why Takamichi is so fond of him just a bit more. “Still I thank you. Would you like to lay down for a bit as well?”

“Ah, no it’s fine. The ninja back in my world are made of tougher stuff than most normal humans!” He says, bringing up an arm and grasping his bicep before wincing in pain as the motion makes his whole body ache like a sore muscle.

Chuckling Shizuna ruffles the boy’s hair. “Just make sure you’re well rested for tomorrow, okay?”

He nods, bidding goodbye to the nurse. Exiting the room he walks through the hallway, his task done, turning the corner to leave, only to run into someone about his height. There is a feminine cry and the sound of metal clattering to the ground.

“Oi, watch where you’re going!” he yells on instinct, reeling from the impact.

“I-I’m sorry.”

He blinks, blue eyes focusing on the person that ran into him. Surrounded by fallen medical tools and a discarded tray, she sits on the ground. Short hair the color of ice, a uniform the same as Setsuna and Kuu Fei, and red eyes looking up at him full of fear.

“Ugh, er-“ he looks uncomfortably to the side, the girl looking very much like a kicked puppy. Damn it. Now he feels like an ass. He sighs, closing his eyes and offering her a hand. “No, it was my fault. Are you alright?”

“Yeah.” He hears, feeling fingers wrap around his own. “I-“

Her voice cuts off and he feels the fingers tighten around his hand like a vice. He peeks his eye open to see the thin, almost unnoticeable stream of blood that dripped down the arm of the hand clamped around his. A wound created by a wayward scalpel that fell and split open her skin.

‘She must have gotten cut when I ran into her.’ He thinks with a wince as the pressure on his hand increases. He looks to the girl and starts. She stares at the blood with wide, unblinking eyes. Trembles wrack her body and her breath coming in short, increasingly rapid gasps.

“Hey, are-“

That’s all he can get out before the girl’s grip vanishes and she pitches backwards in a faint.

After Naruto beat Kuu with the sacred technique passed down to him by Kakashi-sensei, the crowd that had gathered around them went rabid. He didn’t know it, but his little scuffle with the captain of the CMARS more or less threw any chance of him blending in with the student body out the window, rumors already circulating about the whiskered blond that beat the winner of the previous Mahora Martial Arts Contest. The fighters, whom Naruto and Kuu Fei previously beat the crap out of, had gotten back onto their feet, all wanting a piece of the mysterious boy.

Needless to say, Naruto quickly got the hell outta dodge, only stopping to grab the unconscious Kuu Fei before he fled.

He managed to slip away, just long enough to create a clone to drop Kuu Fei off at the infirmary before his would-be challengers were on him again, this time chasing him all the way past the outskirts of Mahora and into the forest where he finally managed to lose them.

Why he decided to let himself be the distraction instead of his clone is beyond him. Maybe he should take Ero-sennin’s advice of thinking before he acts someday.

“Takamegane is going to be pissed…” He mumbles, hanging upside down on a tree branch as he watches the last of the disgruntled fighters give up and turn around to go home. He shrugs. “Meh, she attacked me first.”

“Who attacked you first –de gozaru?”

It is pure strength of will that stops Naruto from screaming and dropping to the ground. He looks back up at the branch he clings to with chakra to see a girl with dark green hair, a few strands of hair tied back into a super long ponytail, wearing a revealing purple outfit.

“Hello there.” She says with an easy going smile, observing him with squinted eyes. “What brings you out here?”

“Just, uh, hiding from some unwanted admirers I guess.”

There is a loud rumbling and he looks up(down?) at his stomach. Cutting off the flow of chakra to his feet, he twists to grab his former foothold, flipping onto the branch. Chuckling sheepishly he looks up at the tall girl who returns his grin with a more relaxed smile.

“Hey, you got anything to eat?”

“There’s a river just over there.” She motions with her head. “I was going to catch some fish to cook for dinner."

"Would you like to join me?”

Quick Edit: I think I might just take out Naruto's interaction with the other girls and just keep his interactions with Setsuna, Takamich and Konoemon for the first chapter and introduce/develop the other girls later by means of Konoemon assigning him jobs.

...Aren't they the same age? I mean by this time Naruto is like 14.

Yeah, that's true. In my head I'm seeing Naruto be like a foot shorter than Kaede and her thinking he's alot younger while Naruto thinks she's alot older. I'll just go back and edit it really quick. Also I think I'll take out the part with Ako and have her and Naruto just meet during one of Konoemon's tasks. That being said I'm starting to learn towards just having the first chapter be focused around Takamichi, Setsuna, Konoemon and Naruto while having him meet Negi and the rest of 2-A next chapter.
