Who are the biggest jobbers in anime?

If anyone is a jobber in El-Hazard, it's Diva.
Actually, I'd say Londs and the average El-Hazard Soldier.

Inspector Zenagata - Lupin

Kyouichi Saionji - Revolutionary Girl Utena

B-Ko - Project A-Ko
* Zenigata: Grade AAA jobber... he may be a competent sleuth, but when Lupin's involved his job rate raises exponentially

* Saionji: he was one of the strongest duelists, until Utena took him down and 'rescued' Anthy from his 'evil evil clutches'... he does a commendable job and makes the pink haired 'prince' look cooler

* B-ko: even with the Daitokuji Zaibatsu she just cant win... I like her even if her JOB level is pretty high

Blame the Anime for that... from what i gather there's a different Zenigata in the manga.

Y'know, now that you mention Itsuki, I just thought of one character who might well be the ultimate jobber in anime.

Kyon, of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu.

Think about it: he wins and loses all according to the Will of Haruhi (in other words, the script), and neither happens due to his own apparent ability. He just kinda coasts along, doing what he's gotta do.
It could be argued that his very existence is a job.

If that's not the very extreme of jobbing, I dunno what is.

You know...Koizumi would probably be a better example. Kyon makes a conscious decision to follow through with what his future self has already done (and, indeed, himself mentions that he can throw everything into disarray easily with only two words), but Koizumi...

Nearly all of Koizumi's actions noticed by Kyon have a motive that has to do with Haruhi. It's not just a job, it's a role he lives in.

Besides, everyone know that Kyon is made of pure WIN. I mean, the world hasn't been destroyed (permanently) yet, has it?

"Seiryo Tenan" from Tenchi Muyo and Tenchi Muyo GXP!

basically a pink haired Kuno who sees humans as inferiors, and always loses.

They actually save Ash's ass (making him look like a moron to boot) several times. So they don't really count as jobbers. They had their fair share of victories and shining moments.

Here I thought he was one. A nice one, mind you. But one nevertheless.

Well, Ash *is* a moron (you have to be to participate in what is essentially glorified, legalized cockfighting), but he generally doesn't look like one because he travels with Brock, who makes even a rock look smart. :snigger:

no... Brock is just horny and desperate to get away from his family
but yes, he does seem to make others look a lot smarter just by association

I'm surprised no ones mentioned this yet, Rock Lee anyone? He has the baddest Taijutsu out of anyone and yet as soon as someone higher on the character totem poll comes along he's there to put up an epic fight and inevitably lose in the end.

To be fair, Lee has gone up against some very dangerous people. Dosu was one of the more dangerous genin in the test, and Lee was handicapping himself badly in that fight; Gaara...is GAARA; and Kimimarou, even at the brink of death, is a goddamn monster who I don't think anyone short of _kage level could stop one-on-one.

Hey, what about Kentaro Sakata from Love Hina?

The first time we see him, he's the heir of a multi-million dollar corporation with designs on Naru. Practically the next time he shows up, he's a dogsbody for Haruka at the Teahouse.

Despite him being my favorite DBZ character, I nominate Vegeta.

Typical Arc Plotline:

1. Discover new enemy.

2. Realize new enemy is far too powerful (Even though the last one you faced was "The Strongest One in the Universe").

3. Train to become stronger than new enemy.

4. Watch Vegeta get his ass handed to him by said enemy after cockily flashing his new powers.

5. Goku comes in and saves the day.

Poor sap. :(

I'd say it's cosmic payback for being such an imperious shitwad in his youth.

That's mainly the reason I'm content to wait for US book releases, less annoyance for a while
