Fuck... just fuck, man this chapter, you need to see it, almost cried.
This is the kind of thing that makes you love Adventure Time, yeah it's silly and jokes and then wham they do things that makes you remember, this it's a show about a post apocalyptic world, with much more deep stories and characters that would indicate at first sight.

So this is why Marceline refuses to open her heart again. Everyone she's allowed in has hurt her in some fashion or the universe has consipired to take them away from her.

Man... I just saw the Simon/Mar episode and I'm Bawling like a Baby...
Poor Marceline... even more poor Simon godlike power... only to trade it all for everything that made him him... And it really couldn't have been easy to watch your caretaker slip further and further into complete insanity and senility without even understanding why it was happening.
Episodes like this are what MAKE Adventure Time pure greatness.
