TBH it seems like a copout to explain the lack of (even attempted) relationship progress in a coupling involing a man in his early 20s. But oh well...
It seems it was the contract or the system or whatever that was doing it, rather than Belldandy actively messing with his head. But the sisters were still aware and said nothing of it.
Moreover, while the series has been running something like 20 years, in-universe it's only been like.... 4 years?
Still, I'll be annoyed if Keiichi just shrugs this off. He really should be pissed. And it's the first potential bit of relationship drama in fucking years. That the majority of the drama is external to the relationship is something I really like about this series, but I've certainly wished for just a little tension between the couple now and then.
I am a bit curious though. I mean, Kei has shown apparent lust several times over the years. So that was, what? His libido raging so hard it could momentarily get through the seal?
Also a little disappointed in Hild here. She could've been like, 'interfering with the hearts of mortals over a contract, such is the way of Gods... Make a contract with us. We're fine with being lusted after.'

Dammit. I hate my humanities courses. Now every time I read fiction I have to dissect it into the components of the Hero Cycle. In this case, K1 is still on the Road of Trials, has met the Goddess (multiples of them in fact), experienced Woman as the Temptress (multiple times again), and is coming upon Atonement with the Father (or mother it looks like in this case). He will then achieve Apotheosis (reconciliation with what happened to him, thus obtaining a new zen or something) and obtain The Ultimate Boon (Belldandy's hand in marriage, or at least the consent for this to happen), and then it will be the journey home. I really don't think they can stretch this story any further, you've pretty much reached the climax here unless you want to stretch the engagement period another 20 volumes. Then again, it can be like Soap Operas where someone goes missing and something happens and the couple never gets married. But yeah, bravo on the trolling there. Not only was the main character trolled, but all the readers got trolled to.

Honestly, it feels like a retcon. Copout like what OniGanon said? *shrug* IMO, it's a good one at least. Still a retcon.
Now, things MUST change. If Fujishima tries to make the series be like before, or paper overs this revelation, it just won't work.
Now what I'm expecting is, that this is some way for K1 and Bell to get over their differences, and boom, love/inter species wedding/smex, etc. etc. Happy End for everyone... uh, at least K1/Bell. That's what I'm expecting. And if Fujishima does do this, it better be good and not a serious copout.

Like Simmy, I'm also a long time fan of this series, and even with going away for a couple of years and coming back and reading up on all I've missed; my fellow fans will agree, even with this vague feeling of ret-con thanks to the latest arc's shenanigans, we have never really seen a real reason why K1 and Bell haven't been bumping uglies for the past (in universe) 4 years... until now.
After all the shit he's been put through; there is NO reason why the All Father shouldn't or wouldn't give that man (and his recently discovered epically raging hard-on) his well deserved reward.
And yes, there is much drama to be had, <George Takei>Oh! My!</George Takei>
Hild will be there enjoying every fscking minute of it, because seriously, there is proof of a previous inter-species relationship... she has one black wing and one white wing, has a great rack and always dresses nicely.
I expect the better part of a year or two more for cleaning out the fallout of the current arc, resolution and finalization.
I remember him being involved in Gungrave, which also wasn't all sunshine and lollipops... (or did he only do mecha design?)

I'm kinda hoping it turns out the libido supression thing went both ways. Partly because it'd be funny/hot to see a suddenly randy Belldandy trying to get Keiichi to forgive her so they could proceed to the epic make up sex. But mostly because it would make more sense.
I mean, if the goal was to stop a divine and a mortal from bumping and grinding, why would only one of them get sealed?
But yeah, Belldandy wasn't dumb. She used Keiichi's faith in her to force him into a new contract, where if he refuses to stay with her through whatever trials they may face, he never sees her again for the rest of his life. The big problem here isn't the mind rape on Belldandy's end. After all, she worked to get that negated. No, the issue is that she was never going to tell him that it had happened. Which fits with her past behavior when things happened that made her worry about losing him. Hild of course, wouldn't let that go past her though.
