I'd forgotten about that. If things stolen by the Kid get returned a day later - is there any real need to capture him? It would be far easier to pretend that the item was never stolen in the first place.

Considering that cat-woman likes to keep her goods, beyond admiring Kid from a distance, he's the kind of villain Batman wouldn't bother with unless no-one else was around. With the cat - you need to catch her, or you'll never see your jewellery again. With the Kid, it's just a question of waiting a day or two.

Batman might, after researching the kids exploits, flag him for intervention. It's all well and good to hunt the murders of your father and to seek to bring those who think themselves above the law to justice. However, it wouldn't hurt to give the kids some guidance from more experienced heroes.

Oh man now I really want to read a Batman/Death Note crossover fic. Hunting down a serial killer who can kill remotely from anywhere in the world with nothing but the victim's name and face using only his intellect and detective skills would be right up Batman's alley.

About the death note - does it work on stage names? I mean, if Batman were tasked with hunting Kira down, wouldn't it be a simple matter for Kira to write 'batman', imaging his face (shouldn't be too hard to get a picture) and kill him with a heart-attack? Even if Kira never learned Batman's real identity, would it matter?

Doesn't Batman consider Bruce to be his acting role? Or am I misremembering?

1. The death note still might require his birth name not the name he's taken.
2. The mask still obscures enough of his face that Light couldn't be exact in his mental image.
3. Light doesn't know that Batman considers Bruce the fake ID so even if that were a thing...Light wouldn't think to try it.

Now I'm imagining someone with the death god's eyes figuring out Batman's secret identity because they met Bruce Wayne and noticed the name over his head was "Batman."

That reminded of something I've long wondered about how the death note works. What defines what your name is? The name your birth parents gave you? The name you consider to be your real name? The name that most other people believe to be your name? Can your "deathnote-able" name ever change? Can you have multiple names that will all work with the death note?
