Any good fics would be appreciated, but I'd prefer to find some Toph/Aang romance.

I'd recommend most of the stuff written by ardy1, although her stuff is mostly about Sokka and Zuko... surprisingly enough, she's also written some Sokka&Zuko, but it's not Yaoi, more like a buddy-cop movie.

World Tour

It's Aang/Toph and begins a few years after the series ended. It's a little serious but mostly its just funny as hell...

Eh, the author of that story lacks knowledge of basic grammar and sentence structure. And it looks to be a Zuko/Katara ship.

That are a lot of bad points.

I've hit more than a few rough grammar patches as I read, and some scenes feel a little off, even a bit forced or contrived, but it's... not that bad. Yes, it looks to be a Zutara and is guaranteed to be Taang, but unless you ragehaet the ships or are Anne L. Retentive, it's readable. I'm 3/4 through chapter 6 and the Zutara is still in the repressed snarking phase that made the "opposites attract" believers sail the ship in the first place. The author did, though, kill Zuko/Mai rather dead. Breaking it off via mail is rather... insensitive.

edit: I'd like to mention that the writing itself gets better as you go on. I think he got a progressively better proofreader starting at around chapter 3 or so.

The Gentleman of Weapons.

By Menamebephil.

AU: In a different world, can a mysterious and ancient Order possibly defeat a ruthless Fire Lord? No. They're utterly screwed, actually. A proper For the Want of a Nail this time around. Pairings to be revealed.
Avatar: Last Airbender - Rated: T - English - Mystery/Adventure - Chapters: 14 - Words: 52,717 - Reviews: 53 - Updated: 10-28-09 - Published: 7-3-09 - Piandao

The point of divergence here? Iroh is the Fire Lord. And the war is still going on, worse than ever, so Master Piandao -Grand Lotus (acting)- has made a grand plan that is the last, best hope of the world... Pity that the reapparition of the Avatar is about to throw a monkey wrench into the works.

Just the Girl
Summary: Zuko finds help from a very unlikely source. Who knew a blind earthbender, a banished Prince and a retired general could take on the world? This chapter: The end and the beginning!
My Summary: Up to chapter 14 it's a interesting fic where Toph decides to travel with Zuko and Iroh not with the Gaang. After that she romps through the world, kicking ass and creating world peace. Which isn't bad but it definitely isn't as good as the first half.
Favorite line: ôNow enough talk. IÆm planning a program of grueling mental and physical labor guaranteed to make a warrior out of you. That or kill you. Whatever comes first. Letæs start with a practice match so I have a better view of your mistakes.ö

Teaching Toph
Summary: Aang is training, and Toph is once again trying to beat the airbender out of him. Wanting to explain his situation, Aang tries to teach her a bit about airbending.
My Summary: Aang teaching Toph about the various styles of bending, and related skills.
Favorite line: He took a few steps until he was right next to her, and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. He thought she would be able to go by herself, but it was fine. He still had one more thing left up his sleeve though. Katara had actually given him the idea when he overheard her talking to Toph about teaching him, using 'a gentle nudge'. And that was what he gave Toph. A gentle nudge. Right over the ledge.

Embers
Summary: Dragon's fire is not so easily extinguished; when Zuko rediscovers a lost firebending technique, shifting flames can shift the world...
My Summary: It's by Vathara. What else needs to be said?
Favorite line: "The Avatar is a child! An idiotic, na´ve, hyperactive little airbender who thinks everybody deserves to live! And people think he's going to save them? How? Ask the Fire Lord to think really, really hard about the war and decide to play nice?" Knuckles were bone-white in clenched fists. "You want somebody to save you from the Fire Nation? Grow up and do it yourselves!"

Second Nature, by lazyartisan

Summary: Destiny is a funny thing - Zuko's season 2 story arc takes a radical turn after he is captured at the North Pole. One event can change so much - and so little. Plotbending, character exploration and a grittier more realistic portrayal of the Avatar World.

My thoughts: I found this one to be excellent.

Burn My Dread Complete

The online summary is pretty crappy so I'll give a brief outline for it. It's an Avatar/Persona 3 fusion fic that's unique in the fact that it tries to be original. For example, the Punny Bastard analogue is revealed during the First Full Moon monster and they're essentially trying to half-ass through their fights.

It utilizes some concepts from Persona 4 as well that I won't elaborate on. There are a few scenes that are directly ripped from the TV series and games (Kings Game, Yakushima Beach, Beach House party, etc...) but those are rare to find. The writing is excellent and while the characters may feel a little different than from the series, they are still recognizable.

It's very long and fortunately complete. It also has a sequel on it's way with 4 chapters up as of now.

ôI thought they separated nuns and monks. You know? The Northern and Southern temples for the men, and the Western and Eastern temples for the females?"

ôYes, thatÆs true. But once a year we all came together for the festival.ö

ôWhat festival?ö Toph asked.

ôThe Hrish festival.ö Their silence told him that they had no clue what he was talking about. ôYou know, to make airbender babies?ö

They let this sink in.

ôOh, by Agni!ö Zuko exclaimed after a moment, scandalized. ôThe monks had fertility festivals?ö

ôMore like ærelease the tensionÆ festivals.ö Aang said.

ôSweetàö

ôToph, shut up You shouldnÆt even be here.ö

ôSoö Toph asked, curious ôDid you ever participate?ö

ôNo. Official ritual age was sixteen.ö

ôThanks the Spirits.ö Zuko mumbled.

ôAt 12 we were only allowed to watch.ö Aang continued happily.

I got to be honest I could barely get through the first chapter much less the first paragraph without having to force myself to finish it, so I have to ask, why and HOW did you like this fic?

Indeed, it is a good read. I wish the author had updated in the last six months, though.
