Hey, I recently sat down and watched this anime I never heard of, just the first episode to see what it was about. 12 hours later i had whatched the entire first season and the first five episodes of season 2. Yeah, no sleep for me before work that day. Anyway, this got me interested in seeing what fanfiction was out there for this, so I started looking around, and sad to say, there isnt much. Still I got on Fanfic.net, and one particular fic got me thinking. Its called Code Geass: Lelouch of Brittania ? by Cal reflector. It was a what if about Lelouch not giving up his princehood and rising to power through Britannia rather than going through exile. Its only 22000 words but it was interesting to me at least, and also pissed me off cause I dont really think it will be continued. So I have decided to write my own fic, my very first.
This is the outline I am working on right now, its not finished, and will update as I get more done, just wanted to get opinions on what i have so far.
updated Outline for Code Geass Fic
Outline for Code Geass Fic
1.Lelouch Vi Britannia's (Lelouch Lamperouge) motivation is currently destroying Britannia, though at the time I start the story, he has not yet taken the mask of Zero. He is also wanting to make a world where the strong may not trample the weak due to his sister Nunnally who was crippled in an attack on his mother by an unknown party that also killed his mother. Lelouch also hates his father, the emperor of Britannia, with a passion, because he feels he didn't bother to even try to protect his mother, nor did he show any care about the fact that his mother was assassinated. It is this attitude that made Lelouch hate the strong trampling the weak. May modify Lelouch's personality a bit here, to make him care more about protecting his weak sister rather than the weak in general, maybe make him empathetic towards the Japanese plight, but not so much that he is willing to risk Nunnally to become Zero.
2.Thinking of giving Lelouch an attitude similar to Suzaku Kururugi towards changing the system from the inside, due to the rather unrealistic possibility of actually managing to break away from such a vast empire as Britannia. The initial breakaway is of course possible, but actually maintaining such a state after accomplishing it would of course not be possible, with the EU and Chinese Federation out there who would be more than happy to jump in and take over with fresh troops. The Federation would of course be the more immediate threat, and there would still also be the possibility of a fresh invasion from Britannia as well. Thinking he can take the mask of zero within the Brittanian Army in order to hide his identity as the presumed dead Prince Lelouch Vi Britannia until such time as he has gained enough influence to come out of hiding under his father's meritocracy. At that point I think I will end the first arc of this story and begin the next.
3.The reasoning behind joining the army will be gaining political and military influence in order to begin gaining information regarding the assassination of his mother, as well as satisfying his need for power to protect his sister. May bring his sister into a command role as well, after his revelation that zero is in fact the Black Prince, Lelouch. Reasoning behind this is the 5th episode in the second season. That little twist intrigued me enough to want to experiment with it, but this wont come around until the second arc I think.
4.The Black Knights will be in this story, and in order to show compassion towards the Japanese, will be composed of only Japanese, particularly those that made up the Black Knights in cannon. Will make the JLF particularly vicious and uncaring of civilian casualties in order to facilitate this possibility. May use the Geass to lower resistance to this idea, or at least get the Purists out of the way long enough to form them. Maybe by making them think the idea is doomed and they just have to sit back and watch it fail. The Black Knights will also be a rallying point for the Japanese people as well, a symbol that it could indeed be possible to attain a form of independence within the Brittanian system.
5.Clovis La Britannia will be assassinated by the JLF at some point in order to get Euphemia to Japan. Before that happens though, he will become reacquainted with Lelouch and Nunnally. He will also be the one to arrange Lelouch's entry into Britannia's army. Clovis in the past was close to Lelouch's mother and sister, and to Lelouch himself. This relationship will be renewed before Clovis's assassination and thus cause Lelouch to be very angry with them, and will be the basis for his formation of the Black Knights. Still working out the time line I want this to happen in.
6.Euphemia Li Britannia will be brought in after Clovis's assassination, along with her sister Cornelia Li Britannia. It will be her that helps the initial formation of the Black Knights and her backing in particular that allows them to be composed of Japanese citizens. Her role as puppet Lieutenant-Governor of Area 11 will be the same at first, but her interaction with Lelouch and Nunnally early on in her career will help change that, particularly Lelouch's determination to gain power to protect Nunnally. This determination will inspire her to become stronger in order to protect what she believes in. This will be reflected in her increased effectiveness in statesmanship and actually helping to rule Japan. The first noticeable proof of this I think will come in the Chinese Federation invasion with the Japanese government in exile.
7.Cornelia Li Britannia... This ones gonna get complicated. She is initially one of the suspects of Lelouch, along with Prince Schneizel in the assassination of his mother. This particular suspicion will be reduced by Euphemia early on, though not completely eliminated. Will not initially know about Lelouch and Nunnally, though Euphemia will be working on Lelouch to tell her. Think I will make the revelation an accident somehow, or maybe have Lelouch be forced to reveal his identity to save her at some point. Also, cause I'm a perv, I like the idea of Cornelia and Lelouch together. This wont happen at first though, it will be a follow up to a failed relationship. May kill off someone for this to happen, don't know yet. She will be brought in at the same time as Euphemia, just after pacifying Area 18. Her distaste for the elevens will remain in place, but will be eroded by Lelouch and the Black Knights bit by bit as time passes.
8.Schneizel El Britannia Don't know a whole hell of a lot about him, just what I can find in wikipedia. Still trying to decide weather to make him a protagonist or antagonist. He does openly declare his intention to challenge the emperor and I could see Lelouch backing him simply to see the bastard fall, and this could be a plot device to get Lelouch's and Nunnally 's royal status restored. Also the only real lead on his mothers assassination once he finds out Cornelia had nothing to do with it. Could also make him a rival as well. Could go either way really, need to think on this.
9.Suzaku Kururugi almost forgot him. Obviously, his and Lelouch's goals don't really conflict in this story. He is still gonna be Euphemia's knight though, like that particular couple. Maybe have a bit of comedic interplay here, since he wont know about Lelouch being zero, and Lelouch doesn't know he pilots the Lancelot right off either, could have some fun with that. Make them rivals without knowing who the other is for a while. Lelouch's goal of achieving some measure of equality for the Japanese people is all mostly based off his friendship with Suzaku as well. Think I will bring in the Mao incident in this to reveal the patricide incident as well, throw in some emotional bonding and whatnot there.
10.C.C. Before I do anything with her, got to consider the contract obligations. In particular, what exactly she is supposed to get? What the hell is her greatest wish supposed to be? Guess I'm gonna have to decide this myself before I can plot out her role. There is also the initial conflict with Clovis as well. He was supposed to capture her, so Lelouch cant reveal her presence to him. But also, the project she was involved in as far as I know was pretty much only known to Clovis and the scientists involved, and those scientists are mostly hidden away in the basement or whatever, so after Clovis is assassinated there will be more leeway for her to move around. Now, I don't think she has any actual hatred for Britannia, save for some anger at being experimented on maybe, so I wont have her wish be to destroy Britannia, that would be counterproductive to my story. I think I will give her a part in the Black Knights as well, seeing as she is also a good Knightmare Frame pilot. I'm not gonna have her romantically involved with Lelouch, more like a sibling relationship.
11.The initial story will start right at the point where Lelouch shot Clovis in cannon, this Lelouch will be considering all the possibilities before him of what could result from this action. Not to mention the emotional pain of considering killing what was once a friend of his family. It will be at this point that he will come to a decision, realizing that yes, he probably could incite a successful rebellion in Japan and win, but even then, that will not get him revenge on the ones who killed his family, nor will it ensure the safety of Nunnally or himself. There would still be the Chinese Federation, who would be salivating at the chance to swoop in and conquer a severely weakened Japan and its Sakuradite ore mining facilities, as well as the EU, and Britannia itself would hardly be out of military forces to send in to try to retake Japan. It is this consideration that will prompt the realization that a rebellion would only get him so far, and even then the death toll would be horrendous. Worst case would be they liberate Japan, only for it to become a battleground between the three world superpowers. Chances of survival in such an environment would be very low, particularly for his wheelchair bound sister. This realization leads him to lower his gun and spare Clovis and talk instead. This will be the basis for the first chapter and lay the foundation for Lelouch's return to power.
