Well, due to the 'Digimon Fanfiction?' Thread in the Talk secton, I have recently seached hrough the Digimon section, and though I was pleased to find a number of good fics, it quickly became obvious that, as with most sections, the large majority sucked.
So I figured that I'd try to do something about that. Hence, this thread. I'll start.
The first ideas that comes to my mind when I think about Digimon are the crossovers between Seasons. I, however, think it's appropriate to do things a bit differently then how it's usually done.
In most Digimon Season crossovers, the respective groups immediately (or at least quickly) team up. Personally, I think it makes much more sense for the opposite to happen.
The different teams have a number of differences that woud likely put them at each others throats. The Tamer's, for example, might come off as villians to Season 02 or even Season 01. This is because the Tamer's could (and probably would) be seen as ruthless. How many digimon have the Tamer's killed? More then they have left alive.
A lot more.
Off the top of my head, of the digimon they fought, the Tamer's only left three digimon alive (I may have missed a few though). The digimon Yamaki caught, Beelzebumon, and Zhuqiaomon. The first was because Yamaki interrupted before Takato could kill him, the second Takato was going to kill (in the translation by PositronCannon, he even said 'I'll send you to hell with this lance') before Juri kept him from shoving Gram up Beelzebumon's ass, and the third Henry wasn't able to kill, and Takato just didn't get a chance before they were interrupted. But both Henry and Takato looked like they were going for the kill.
To the much more peaceful Second Season, they'd probably look like murderers. Maybe even to the first. Especially since the Tamer's (knowing what Wild Ones are like) generally skip the talking and go for the kill.
In addition, Seasons 01, 02, and 04 were really big on protecting the Digital World, while Tamers was focused more on protecting the Real World, though the Tamer's also helped out in the Digital World.
Furthermore, there would also probably be issues because of how far each team is willing to go. Tamer's is the best example of this, because, unlike 01, 02, and 04, they are more knowledgeable of the dangers. Leomon dead, and Juri went through a lot. The closest the other seasons came to that is Angemon being reduced to an egg, and Kari and Ken's troubles. The former was purely temporary, and Patamon was back in a week or so. As for the latter, both Kari and Ken had friends that helped them pretty quickly. Imagine how much further the Tamer's would be willing to go? After all, they actually saw an ally get killed, and a friend get tortured. They'd probably be willing to do a lot to keep either from happening again.
Hell, even before any of that happened, when Takato saw Culumon get kidnapped, he promptly decided that he was going to the Digital World to get him back, despite knowing what Digimon acted like in Tamer's and the Deva's.
As such, I personally think that (should they meet each other when non-partnered digimon are involved), things would quickly get violent. And a Battle between the respective teams could probably form a story all by itself. Add in dealing with each other when in, say, school, or some other setting in which promptly throwing down isn't a real option, plot points, and conflicted interests, as well as plots and plans made by the groups to go against each other, and you have a whole story.
Thoughts? Or other ideas?
