@Spooky316- You need to at least write the part of your story in the US, so other people can cross over into it.
Right. I'm working on a thing with Nemi in NO now, but I'll write up how Eva gets to the US and such next.

EDIT: @Nemi - The final part of my story will explain some of what we talked about, how Burgundi assigns me to locate and possibly get rid of Ceridwen, which leads me to the US and New Orleans, which will lead into our crossover. I'll work on that some now, but I'm not sure how much more time I'll have this weekend.

Alright, clockwork. I've written up my side of our crossover. Tell me if you've got any problems with it.

Phase Five
Welcome to the Big Easy
Following the records he had recovered, Derek made his way to New Orleans. He quickly found an empty house and purchased it. But once he had a living area set up, Derek decided to get his ear back on the street. He started by visiting some bars, most of them normal but some of them catering to the more supernatural crowd.

During the barhops, especially the supernatural ones, he continued hearing the same name: David. Just David. Whenever he was mentioned, the conversation became hushed until the topic was changed. A few discrete inquiries told him that David was regarded as a mercenary by some, and a straight up hitman by others. No matter what he was, he was who people went to when they had a problem that needed a final solution.

Derek sought David out, and the two had a little conversation. They parted an hour later, with Derek gaining nothing from the talk except the knowledge that David was a bit scary and vague promises to talk in the future.

To DerekÆs shock the conversation paid dividends almost immediately. Another man, a civil servant by the name of Mark Guilder found Derek the next day, saying that David had told him to speak with Derek. Apparently, there had been an assassination attempt on MarkÆs life. Nothing bad, just a ghoul, but enough that Mark was scared for his life. Derek didnÆt even think to check why Mark had assassins after him: in exchange for a nominal fee and an oath to pass on anything newsworthy to him, Derek took the job.

DerekÆs services were needed almost immediately when Mark was attacked again the next night. As Derek killed a pair of ghouls, Mark let his get away on purpose. Derek tracked it back to itÆs source, a Red Court Vampire low in the hierarchy. Five minutes and two bullets from his sniper rifle later, the vampire and his ghoul lay dead. Derek returned to Mark, collected his payment, and left with MarkÆs grateful thanks.

Guest Staring: AKA David Masters, Mark Guilder

Aspect: Professional Courtesy (Changed from Everybody Needs Friends and then from Slice and Dice for a Price)
------------------

Also, I've added two more stunts to Derek. Here they are.

Rocket in my Pocket: It may not be healthy, but Derek gets a great deal of confidence when heÆs armed. When Derek is carrying a concealed weapon, add 1 to both his Presence and his Intimidation.

Boom! Headshot!: Derek is good with a pistol, but much better with a Sniper Rifle and bit of time to prepare. When Derek is armed with a sniper rifle and has had a period of time to prepare, he gets +1 to guns, and adds 1 damage to his shots.

This gives Derek a final refrest of 2. I'm considering removing one of the earlier stunts.

Looks good to me, normally Mark doesn't freak easily, (good conviction, fair discipline) but for the first encounter with the supernatural it makes sense, and I liked the bit about letting one get away to track it.

Just to help me keep track of everyone I've complied a list of "group skills" listing whoever had the highest skill in each catagory and what skill level that is.

Meh, worth remembering that were in New Orleans. I'd be surprised if Nugar didn't force us to go out into the bayou, so I don't doubt survival's going to have it's uses.

And please don't feel constrained by my chart, it was more an overall breakdown of what we're good at as a group., not a "WE NEED THESE THINGS OR WE'RE GONNA DIE".

Yeah, but I'd bring it down from Great into Good and do some rearrangement.

I need to take craft as part of my character concept, so juggling. But my brain is failing right now so I don't want to think.

EDIT: Brain is coming back

Great: Discipline
Great: Craftsmanship

Good: Survival

Phase One:

Alec was born in Britain, in Sheffield early in the 60's. He doesn't remember much of his mother as she died when he was a toddler. Growing up, he always knew he would be inherting the family fortune as the eldest son(he has two younger half-siblings) which required a certain degree of academics even his early education, but he was fortunate to have an inclination to academics anyway.

Alec did not have many friends growing up, due to his tendency to prefer a book to read than a ball to kick or throw. He was quite willing to put his books aside at the request of his siblings, however, to entertain and play with them. Alec, perhaps due to his reading, was highly opionated at even a young age and often debated with his father about this or that. Despite an occasional temper flare from either or both of them, Alec and his father enjoyed these debates.

Aspect: Big Brother

Phase Two:

When Alec was old enough, his father ensured that Alec would get the kind of education he both desired and needed by sending him to Warwick University. Focusing on economics, his first year proceeded much as Alec had expected it to. There were a couple odd occurences, but Alec chalked those up to stress and moved on.

However, during his second year, Alec began to see things that were... off with the way he understood things worked. It wasn't frequent, but it happened enough to make him question his sanity.

The answer came nearly by accident. Alec stumbled upon a practioner within his school as Alec was returning to his dorm late one night. The practioner, a young man by the name of David Kelson, was involved in active magical ritual, unaware of his audience. Alec watched and was amazed at what he saw. Approaching David, Alec Leopold was introduced to magic.

Life took on new complexity for Alec after that. Learning about magic, learning about the world that hid itself from mortal eyes, Alec had discovered a new passion; learn everything he could about this aspect of the world.

For a time, Alec labored under the belief that one day, he would be able to marry magic and technology to improve both. However, as David and his own observations told him, this was a fool's quest and one he gave up eventually.

Aspect: Insatiably Curious About Magic

Phase Three:

Over the years that followed, Alec learned about magic, and how to use it but this was largely self-taught after his friend David left for elsewhere. In his learning and practice, Alec came to the conclusion that formal, hermetic magic was the most effective method and that the sloppy methods often referred to as evocation were a waste of effort.

In the mid 80's Alec decided that he would be better served by moving elsewhere himself. So, he immigrated to the United States, and eventually settled outside of New Orleans, Louisiana. Using his background in academics, Alec was able to land a job as Head Librarian of a small suburb library. It wasn't much money, but his family ties and knowledge of economics allowed him to increase his income by enough to live comfortably.

A number of years after Alec moved to New Orleans he was approached by an elderly man called Platt. He introduced himself as a Warden of the White Council. Alec was told of the Laws(none of which he had ever broken), and informed of the Warden's roles as peacekeeper and wizardly sheriff. And he was made an offer. Join the White Council, and learn how to really tap into his power as a Wizard. Alec refused, politely, citing his belief that the White Council's methods of magic were ineffecient and wasteful. Platt accepted the refusal and departed, leaving behind a warning about the Laws.

Knowing that there were other practioners around, Alec made it a point to occasionally get more often after that, to listen and observe. He found a teaming magical culture in New Orleans that he had largely avoided by living where he did.

But, in mingling more with the local population, Alec attracted attention his way. A small voodoo cult targeted Alec, for reasons unclear to him. After his wards fell to a summoned spirit, Alec was able to banish the spirit with a very hasty ritual and aided by the threshold of his home. Trying to find out why they were after him, and finding a way to stop them from trying again, Alec had to do so under the watchful eye of Platt and the White Council.

Aspect: His Way Is Better

Phase Four: Guest Starring In The Quiet Life(Vladimir Nabokov)

When a man of Eastern European descent comes into his library and introduces himself as Vladamir Nabokov, Alec is intrigued. When the man lays out a simple request for the services Alec is known to provide at times to people that can pay his fee, Alec is even more intrigued.

A summoning and bit of research in his private library later, Alec has fulfilled his part of the bargain; he located a Red Court Vampire recently arrived in New Orleans.

Aspect: Information Is Power And Favors

Phase Five:

Greyon, remember, ritual is a cheaper option for Thaumatugry.

And it's only 20 skill points for feet in the water, not 25

He spent 20, even if he noted 25. So that's still good.

Yeah, my bad on that.

And I wanted thaumaturgy, not ritual. Ritual costs 2 for one aspect of thaumaturgy, and for a point more, you can have the whole deal. Plus a point of specialization.

Okay, I think this is the last of the people you can consider potential friends or contacts. I got a few more people in mind but at lot of who else I throw out there depends on where your characters end up living and what kind of local story you have. Of course, there's a lot more normal people you might know, but they're by and large irrevelent in the larger scale of things. More like, the young lady who hands you your food at the Burger King drive through.

These contacts cover most of the people you, as outsiders, would have run into, hence most of them either being involved in the tourist business or as an official of some sort.

A minor talent ectomancer who runs walking tours of the older parts of the city, including cemetaries and places with a lot of dark energy, though she's aware enough to avoid the places where there's so much evil that it's actually dangerous. She sees herself as more providing entertainment to the dead than the living. Spooky is a pretty young white girl in her mid twenties, a liberal arts major from North Carolina, but she finished her degree in NO and never left.

Carter is a black man, early thirties, and from Tennessee, and is just magically sensitive enough to not be considered completely normal, but there's enough power floating around the city that his 'oh, shit' alarm has gone off enough for him to notice and trust it. He seems to have a knack for knowing which cargo ships have illicit goods, but due to machinations over his head he rarely gets to do anything about it, and that frustrates him. Still, he's saved lives and cost money to most of the groups of badguys, and it gets him to sleep at night. He'd sleep considerably worse if he knew how close he was getting to crossing the line from cost of doing business to actual inconvienience. He has some inkling of forces at work beyond what he sees, and lost an ensign to SOMETHING that lurked in the water, which took a full clip of pistol rounds and several mags of rifle ammo from his crew before it swam off and left them shaken and doubting their memories.

Petty Officer 3rd class Marie Gosney is an attractive young black woman, atheletic and trim, who should be looking at a promotion to command of her own small cutter somewhere, preferably somewhere pretty in Florida, way the FUCK away from the forboding dark waters of the swamps and canals around New Orleans. The oft racist locals don't even register to her anymore, and the fact that they actually seem to know a little about strange monsters that live in the water has actually raised their estimation in her eyes. She still has nightmares about the thing that got one of her fellow coasties and can't seem to get it out of her mind. Unfortunately, her dogged insistence that it wasn't an easily explained hazard of the local wildlife has gained her a reputation as unreliable and she's pretty much stuck with Carter as her superior officer, because he knows when to keep his mouth shut. However, much to her delight, Carter managed to get a mounted .50cal on his cutter, which Gosney takes considerable comfort in the maintenance and manning of.

Warden Grover may be encountered pretty much anywhere on and off the water, either riding around in a big Fish and Game 4x4 pickup covered in lights, or buzzing around talking to boaters in his airboat. He writes a lot of tickets and that makes him pretty unpopular with some of the locals, but he's a decent guy and irritatingly honest. He won't take bribes, so don't even try. A white man from Pennsylvania, he's baffled by some of the local customs but unfailingly polite, and has been flirting with Coastie Gosney for more than a year now. All he knows about the supernatural is rumors and superstition, which he doesn't believe, which may be hurting his pursual of Gosney more than his skin color. He's getting used to the local custom of being armed to the teeth but he'll still ask why you're carrying firearms if he sees any.

Cooter is an old white woman in her 60s who owns the general store in the little old suburb/town that Alec lives in, and runs it like its still the 1970s and there ain't a big Walmart supercenter in the next town over. On one hand, she doesn't have guaranteed low prices and she never does a rollback. On the other hand, she'll order anything from maxi pads to assault rifles, never opens the package, and never asks prying questions about anything except who you're dating. Just don't ask to put it on credit, it's cash only in her store.

...eehhh I'll post this, supper's ready. I got more coming.

David Ray is Jessie Lee's brother. He's white, of indeterminate age, with a scraggly beard, medium length, lanky hair, and a general smell of fish, river, and alcohol. He's fun to fish with but never loan him anything you want to see again, and don't give him the keys to your house. Perpetually broke, he's only the tip of a vast clan of people living here and there, but he's more commonly seen than most. He seems to know just about everybody, but remains remarkably ignorant about everything else. A highly supersitious man, he'll flee at the first sign of trouble if alone, but will stick with family like glue. Though considered harmless by everyone, his family has a bad reputation as a hard, mean bunch.

Wizard Hewlett is an apothecary, healer, and alchemist, and is remarkable for somehow taking all the kindness and caring out of keeping someone alive. If you live, he can generally put you back together, eventually. You'll owe him, though, and he'll make damned sure you know it. He hates the war against the Red Court and wishes there could be peace again, but he's no vampire sympathiser and knows full well how nasty they can be. He has little to nothing to do with Wizard Platt's little outreach program, and won't willingly talk to anyone not a full White Court Wizard unless its in his own best interest.

Delphiki is a Greek born wizard, male, and the most recent appointee to Southern Regional Commander of the US wardens. He's the sixth warden for the New Orleans area in recent memory, and a few close calls and death threats have made it abundantly clear that there are a lot of beings out there who seem ready to go for number seven. Keeping his head down and firmly attached to his body makes it difficult to do his job, but he approaches it with determination and a healthy tendancy to flinch and flee. It's not paranoia when they really are out to get you. His dealings with red court vampires, sorcerors, warlocks, and other threats has evolved into a short, sweet, and simple approach. Keep your shield up, take the head, and get back to secure ground. However, he does approve of Wizard Platt's outreach program and does what he can to train and assist people that Platt has marked as likely WCW candidates. He's quick to call in backup and slow to assist when called for backup, but when he does arrive he shows up armed for bear. Big, monsterous bears with magical claws three feet long, possibly backed up by shoggoths. Delphiki is grimly determined to survive his job, and if that makes him a little trigger happy, well, can you blame him?

If you've been in New Orleans longer than a year as of beginning game time, you might have met Warden Desmarais. She was a pretty French wizard, a magical prodigy by the time she was twelve and a darling of her instructors. Friendly, skilled, and on the rise, she had a string of wizards following her like lovesick puppies, ranging from starry eyed apprentices to older wizards who really should have been more jaded. She was the fifth appointee to Southern Regional Commander, and with pluck and courage and a can do spirit, she was going to do the job right, fight the Red Court Vampires, help Wizard Platt's recruitment program, protect the good people, fight off the bad, and be a hero. Fortunately for her, she had the skills and the power to back up such wide eyed youthful fervor, and took down several RCVs and really cleaned up some of the sorcerors and warlocks who thought that just because she was young, pretty, and enthusiastic she wasn't deadly. She made a lot of enemies. After a little more than two years on the job, she disappeared from right outside her home, leaving behind only a bloodstain. That was about six months ago. Hopefully, she had a quick death.

The man, the myth, the legend... Wizard Platt is old. Rumor has it he saw the british get their ass kicked in 1812. He probably owned slaves prior to the civil war. They say he was childhood friends with the current Merlin. No one really knows but other wizards as old as he is, and they don't talk about that kind of stuff with youngsters. Platt lives on a 'restored' (it's actually doubtful it was ever allowed to fall into disrepair) plantation two hours northwest of New Orleans called Ville Platt. You've all been there multiple times, and it's a wonderfully relaxing place. A minor ward on the area keeps the mosquitos from biting, the air is heavy with honeysuckle and magnolia, and the spanish moss hanging from the trees gives it a shady, cool aspect rather than a forboding one. He has a large library, a work lab, magical circles both indoors and outdoors, a number of servants, a couple of apprentices, and a ton of magical defenses. In addition to wards both on the estate and the buildings, there are also a number of golems that patrol the place, mostly in the form of immense mastifs, not unlike the Wardhounds, and golem alligators, which hide in the flower beds and along the banks of the river that runs through the estate. He's been there a few hundred years and almost never leaves, even for official WCW business. All his moves are through proxies, and guess what?

You're his newest ones. Try not to die.

On the bright side, the benifits are good. If you can be healed he'll make sure Hewlett heals you, you get paid in both mundane and magical ways for the work you do, he's a great teacher, and he honestly wants you to grow up and be all that you can be as White Council Wizards. He understands personal goals and vendettas and never stands in the way, though if he thinks you're being foolish he's going to try and encourage you to shift your goals somewhere else.

Oh, and for the purposes of this game? Every goddamn one of you has the aspect 'Owes Wizard Platt'. This is purely to resolve some of the nightmares I'm having with like a dozen players all running around.

Hmm.

I do believe that Alec would get his groceries from Cooter, simply because she seems to be aware of practioners. And, hey, repeat business with someone with the reputation of discretion like she has, well, that's just good sense.

Alright. I've made some changes to my aspects, plus some to my stunts. So, I figure I'll post my completed character here.

----------------------------------
Character: Derek Matherson
Template: Pure Mortal
High Concept Aspect: Mythical Hitter
Trouble Aspect: Overactive Conscience

Background
Derek was born to a loving family who lived in the northern part of the united states. Sadly his family disintegrated when he was five, when his mother ran off with the pool boy leaving Derek in the hands of his loving but inept father. Despite that, Derek grew up as well as could be expected from a boy in his circumstances. He had the best tutors in everything, including many forms of combat including marksmanship, swordplay, and unarmed. When he worked up the nerve to ask his father why he was being trained so hard to defend himself, his father paused for a moment before saying that he had to be the best.

Aspect: Born to be the Best

Rising Action
When Derek hit his early twenties, his father began training him to take control his the familyÆs business empire. During one of the lessons, one on honest book keeping, a visitor showed up at the house. The visitor managed to charm his way though security and right into the room that Derek and his father were in. DerekÆs father drew a dagger he had hidden, but was killed. Before the man could turn to Derek, Derek snapped his neck. To his surprise, the man was still alive. But Derek managed to gut him with his fatherÆs dagger.

After some research, greatly aided by notes his father left him in his will, Derek was clued into the supernatural world, as well as some of his fathers, now his own, companyÆs shadier business dealings. One of those dealings (a hidden brothel in Maine) had brought his father into direct conflict with one of the many houses in the White Court, who had seduced DerekÆs mother away and killed her. DerekÆs father shut down those sides of his business, but instead began gathering power in the supernatural world. The Vampires discovered that, and had sent one of their low level operatives to kill Derek and his father.

Derek installed one of his most trusted advisors to be CEO of his company and took a leave of absence that goes on to this day. He swore to find the house that killed his parents, and annihilate them to the last member.

Aspect: My FatherÆs Bloody Dagger

The Story: Slaying for Summer
On DerekÆs journey to discover the killers of his parents, he ran into what appeared to be a harmless little girl being chased by a group of goblins outside of Charlotte. Derek managed to hide her from the Sidhe, but later discovered that she was really a messenger for the Summer Court.

Derek delivered her to her destination, and met Ruskala, handmaiden to one of the elder ladies of the Summer Court. She offered him a bargain: in exchange for finding out who sent the trolls and eliminating them, she would give him a piece of information about the Vampires he was searching for. Derek agreed.

Derek went through the supernatural underbelly of Charlotte not with a torch and drawn sword like he was tempted to, but casually and gently. He infiltrated places of power, and usually managed to escape undetected. Eventually he traced the goblins back to a mortal practitioner who had struck a deal with a couple of goblins. Without waiting to find out what the deal was, Derek took off the practitionerÆs head with a clean headshot.

Ruskala made good on her deal, telling him that the White Court House that heÆs looking for feeds on hatred. She also made it clear that he can contact her again if he wishes to make another bargain.

Derek was wary of the offer, but thankful for the information given. After some research, he discovered that none of the dominant, and therefore known, houses fed on hatred. So he went south, hoping to find more information

Aspect: Suave and Stabby

Phase Four: You Can Checkout Any Timeà
DerekÆs journey then took him to southern Tennessee, where he checked into a hotel for the first time in a while. While he tried to sleep, he felt nervous and wary, something that hadnÆt happened in years. But his nervous sleep was good, as it saved him when a red court vampire came in and tried to eat him.

Luckily Derek is always armed, and put four bullets into itÆs skull at point blank range before carving itÆs heart out with his fatherÆs dagger. While he was completing his gristly work, he heard a scream. Before he could think, he was out the door and in the room. But by the time he was there, the occupant of the room had already killed the vampire that had tried to feed on him.

The occupant was Jon Earthwalker, who despite having some magical powers of his own had no real knowledge of the supernatural world. The two joined forces, at least for the moment, to find out what had happened in this hotel. After looking around and amassing three more kills between them, they discovered that this hotel was controlled by the Red Court, who used the travelers that stayed there as a buffet that no one would miss.

Derek and Jon went through the hotel with a torch, killing a few more reds and freeing more travelers. On the way, they managed to break into the records the Red Court was keeping there, which pointed at an abnormally large vampire concentration in New Orleans. The two made their escape, and checked into a different, vampire free hotel. Derek took this time to inform Jon of what it was theyÆd just killed before moving further south to follow his leads.

Aspect: Sleep Lightly and Carry a .44

Guest Staring: Jonathan Earthwalker (JiigarGhen)

Story: Welcome to New Orleans

Guest Staring: AKA David Masters, Mark Guilder (clockworkchaos)

Aspect: Professional Courtesy

Skills
Average (+1): Guns, Rapport
Fair (+2): Athletics, Fists
Good (+3): Resources, Lore
Great (+4): Endurance, Weapons

Stunts

Dude Youæve Been Stabbed!: Derek has been wounded many times by conventional weaponry, as well as seeing it happen to many other unfortunates who got in his way over the years. As such, Derek has become quite proficient at fixing up people wounded by weapons. Derek uses Weapons instead of Scholarship for first aid, but only if the wound was caused by a normal weapon.

You Killed My Father: Derek has researched the vampire courts extensively, sparing absolutely no expense in tracking down anything even remotely related to them. Derek gains a +2 to his lore when it refers to Vampires.

Sliced Head to Toe: With the death of his family, Derek has quite the pool of rage hidden inside of him. And that rage has a way of popping out when he has a sword. For a Fate Point, Derek can add two damage to any attack that heÆs caused with a sword. This stacks with any other damage boosting effect.

Platinum Card Member: While Derek doesnÆt use it often, he knows that he has money. And he carries himself like he does as well. Derek uses Resources instead of Presence to determine Social Fortitude.

Refresh Level: 2 (6 for Difficulty + 2 for Pure Mortal - 6 for Stunts)

Stress Boxes:

Physical (Endurance): 0000
Mental (Conviction): 00
Social (Presence, Changed to Resources due to Platinum Card Member Stunt): 0000

And a few little notes, just to help nail down some spesifics. Plus, I wanted to set up some more ties with characters without rewriting my phases.

-Incurred is Owes Wizard Platt aspect by asking the man for information a couple of times. Mostly to fill in gaps in his supernatural library.

-Ran into the Coast Guard Duo a couple of times while he was trailing a RCV into the swamps. Has an amicable relationship with Carter, but a mildly frosty one with Gosney after hitting on her the first time he met her.

All I can really think of right now.

Hmmm. After some thought.... what I have so far:

Heather McGwire

High Concept: Changeling Troubadour
Trouble: Courted By the Powers

Skills:
+5 Superb (0)
+4 Great (0)
+3 Good (3) Rapport, Performance, Presence
+2 Fair (3) Resources, Empathy, Conviction
+1 Average (5) Endurance, Scholarship, Intimidation, Fists, Lore

Powers:
Glamours [-2]
The Catch (Cold Iron) [+2]
Inhuman Recovery [-2]

Story:
Background:
Heather was raised a scion of wealth and priviledge, a child of the immensely wealthy McGwire clan, industrial magnates in the American Northeast. She attended the best schools, had a maid to clean up after her when she made messes, and generally wanted for nothing save her family's love. (Affection, the family had in plenty. Love, that is a rarity, and a danger.) She learned early on to manipulate people and to be patient, though - the family insisted on a certain amount of discipline from its children, and it had its effects. She found an early love for music, so the family paid for lessons from the best, including piano, violin, voice, and dance.
She had no idea that her real father had been a Lord of the Fae, the child a product of her mother's youthful dabbling with magics.

ASPECT: "These trousers cost more than that pickup you're driving. Do you really think I'm impressed?"

Rising Conflict:
High School brought what seemed like more of the same, at first. She was one of the most elite of the school, of course, and many of her fellow students looked up to her. Still, there was one clique that paid little attention to her. This offended her, at first - she wasn't used to being brushed off and ignored when she turned her considerable charms on anyone. At first she dismissed them as beneath her, belittled and insulted them. As time went on, however, she became more and more curious. Eventually she followed them on one of their nightly outings... and found herself the hostage of their target, a Black Court vampire who'd been preying on the neighborhood. It was here that she discovered her own magic, under the tension of the situation, veiling herself and making her escape. Her contribution to taking down the vampire was the introduction she needed to win over the clique, and they welcomed her aid.

ASPECT: "I'm a persistent bitch. I always get what I want in the end."

The First Story: CHASE SCENE
Having pursued the master of the Black Court nest from her hometown all the way to New Orleans, can Heather find a way to defeat him without crossing the White Council or the other Vampire Courts? And who is the seductive singer that's stalking her?

ASPECT: "You meet the most interesting people in this business...."

Still considering powers, it'll partially depend on how the crossover stories go.

By my understanding everyone should have two (2) guest stars in their first story, and guest appearences in two (2) other first stories.

So, I still have one of each I need to fill in.

With that in mind here is an up to date version of Finn...

Fredrick ôFinnö Finnian, 23 y.o.
Template: Changeling
High Concept: Half-Fetch Vigilante.
Trouble: My Fathers Tastes.
Background:
In retrospect itÆs no surprise that Finn was raised by his mothersÆ side of the family. Of course hindsight is 20/20. Throughout most of his school life, despite his small stature, Finn was something of a bully, loving the rush that came from having others fearing him, in his young life there were no sweeter elixirs, or greater triumphs.

A capable student in most subjects, he excelled in psychology and philosophy, but relied on heavy tutoring to scrap through maths. It was in these tutoring sessions that Finn finally began to make genuine friends with James, a nerdy class mate. Finn soon found himself, through his friendship with James, as something of a guardian for the same people he has spent much of his life terrorising.
Background Aspect: Few Friends, Many Foes.

Rising Conflict:
It was college before Finns blood would out. JamesÆ ridiculously attractive girlfriend, Sasha, invited them both to a party. Late that night shit met the fan, when he accidently walked in on James, prostrate on the bed, just in time so see a large, disgusting bat-like thing finish feeding on him, and slit his throat with itsÆ claws.

Both shocked and enraged by the murder of his friend, Finn let go of his mind in favour of vengeance, throwing himself into battle with a superior foe. After taking a severe beating Finn was forced to unwittingly call upon his lineage to try and level the playing field, awakening the Fetch within his soul just to force a stalemate. The vampire escaped, and Finn swore vengeance against it.
Rising Conflict Aspect: Better Dead than Red.

First Story: Red Square Madness
Still adjusting to his newly discovered heritage, Finn sets out on the trail of JamesÆ murderer, an unidentified Red Court Vampire, he suspects is Sasha. However, the awakening of his fae blood doesnÆt go unnoticed in the Nevernever, and soon, his mission is complicated as Finn finds himself at near constant dead ends, and hounded at every turn by servants of both courts, who are not always working at cross purposes.
Guest Staring: Mark Guilder.
The only concrete leading to Sasha, leads Finn to Mark Guilder, an uptight auditor and enemy of Corazon en Paz, a Red Court holding. The initial clash of wills eventually led to FinnsÆ unpractised glamour failing, literally unveiling his nature.

Interest piqued, Mark agreed to aid Finn, and together they attempted to infiltrate a club believed to be connected with the Red Court. This did not go well. FinnsÆ youthful enthusiasm for the revenge clashed with Marks quest for dirt on Corazon en Paz and their affiliates, leading to their discovery by a Red Court enforcer.

Whilst Finn was able to bring down the beast, the attention the fight had drawn forced Finn to accept Marks wise suggestion of retreat. Aided by Marks responsible demeanour and understanding of the system the two were able to escape the scene safely. Finn continues to hunt Sasha, though with tempered bravado.

Guest Staring: Vladimir Nobakov: The Quiet Life
Things weren't going so well for Finn, a lead on Sasha led to a beating. Outnumbered and out gunned, Finn was pretty much screwed... that is until a surprise Smash-and-Save pulled his fat out of the fire, a few dead reds later, and Finn had found himself a new friend.

First Story Aspect: No Dark Deed Goes Unpunished.

Guest Star in: Mark Guilder: Audit #666 (see above)
Guest star Aspect: So... Um... Plan B?

Guest Star in: The Quiet Life
ôOnce in New Orleans, I tried using the standard methodology for locating and eliminating targets: find someone who knows anything. Apply force, find someone who knows more. Repeat.
In the Big Easy, it wasàharder. Should have spent more time getting the feel of the place, but I was close and didnÆt want this one to get away. Bagged a known Red associate and dragged him out to a junkyard so we could talk without interruption. Had the radio on real loud to drown out the whining from the trunk. (Can you blame a man for wanting a little peace, quiet, and Cash music?)
Drove around the corner, and slapped myself in the forehead. Of course. The Reds would like nice secluded places too. And damn but they were beating the shit out of that guy.
So I sighed, put the truck in a higher gear, and floored it. Got two of them real good like that. Reds - not so tough when their spine is in seven different pieces, none of them adjacent.
And then one of them went for the door. I was screwed; theyÆre too fast to deal with unless youÆre thinking ahead. I went to slam the door open, fumbling for reverse all the while, but it wasnÆt necessary. That bloody hunk of flesh theyÆd been beating on got to the Red first. Ahh, it was a good sight. IÆd never seen a manÆs fist go all the way through a rib cage before. Apparently the Reds do have a heart! ItÆs small, ugly, and made a satisfying noise when the guy squished it.
I grinned like a madman. Now this was a man who knew how to deal with the Reds.
More of them came, this time with guns. A few rounds hit the trunk of my car. From the squealing back there, IÆd probably just lost my ôcontact.ö
I turned to the man, whose arms were still covered in the ichor vampires called blood, and grinned wider.
ôGet in the car.ö
We hit them fast and hard, like the dogs of war. It was a good killing.
And afterwards, I introduced myself. The other manÆs name was Finn, and he was on a similar quest. We teamed up for a few weeks, but our leads eventually diverged and we parted waysö

Okay, I've pulled all my previous character related posts and put them together here for convenience. Anything new will be added to this post as well. Also for kicks I changed my avatar and sig to reflect Eva. ^_^

***

Character: Evangeline(Eva) Einhorn
Template: Emissary of Power
Musts: An emissary of power must have a high concept aspect that speaks to the bargain or pact they have made with a patron of great power. Must also take "Marked by Power."
High Concept: Stricken Intermediary of Burgundi
Trouble: Verdammt Vati, leave me alone!

***

Background

Born in Germany to Irish immigrant Iris Morgan and Graf Otto von Einhorn. Has a little sister named Elsabeth, whom she calls Elsa. At an early age Eva contracted mild Tuberculosis, leading Otto to confine her to their (admittedly large) estate in order to keep a close eye on her. She was never made want for anything, however family and servants alike treated her like glass, save for Iris (who tried to act normal, but whose eyes still betrayed her anguish) and Elsa (who was too young to understand what was going on). Eva quickly became disenchanted with this treatment and longed for freedom. Aside from Elsa, her only escapes were books and stories, which she would read and imagine herself on all the adventures.

Background Aspect: Dreamer

***

Rising Conflict

In her mid-teens, the Tuberculosis took a turn for the worse. Eva was now permanently bedridden, to the despair of her family. In her grief, Iris did the one thing she promised herself she'd never do after leaving the Isles: she returned to her magical roots.

The Morgans had had previous contact with a... being... that Iris was sure could heal her daughter. She went through the appropriate motions and made an unknown deal with an avatar of the goddess Brigid*, the results of which were Brigid agreeing to visit Eva and talk with her. Brigid (or Burgundi, as she was known in Germany) introduced herself to Eva and explained that she could heal Eva, but not without something in return. Eva had to agree to be Burgundi's hand in the mortal world, since Burgundi could not manifest through an avatar for long (in fact, she was stretching it even now...). Eva agreed, partly due to her imagining it would be like the stories she always loved, going on quests for a goddess.
*Brigid was the celtic deity of healing, among (many) other things

Burgundi commenced with the healing, but due to her spending so much time in the mortal world already, the healing was flawed. Eva's disease was gone, yes, but she was still prone to occasional debilitating bouts of coughing.

Rising Conflict Aspect: Not giving up yet!

***

The Story Part 1 (aka the pre-story)*
*Basically an explanation of the trouble aspect

This was Otto's first brush with the supernatural, and he wasn't quite sure how to take it. Though he did note Eva's apparent recovery, he didn't fully believe that something so fantastic as "magic" could have possibly healed her (this view was not helped any by her continued coughing).

Otto still refused to let Eva outside the mansion, though she was given full reign of it once more. Eva was not thrilled, to say the least, but she knew with her new job as Burgundi's emissary the confinement couldn't last. This was brought to a head when an avatar of Burgundi appeared with Eva's first assignment. It wasn't much, seeing as Eva was still very green, but it did require her to leave the country. Otto flat out refused, insisting that Eva had to stay home where it was safe. Eva argued that she owed her patron everything, and now that she was actually able to live her own life that Otto didn't have the right to keep her there anymore. The argument raged for a while, with words like "imprisoned" and "for your own good" thrown about, until Burgundi interrupted. She said it was not Otto's decision, lifted a hand, and vanished along with Eva.

This was the turning point for Otto. He came to view the supernatural in an evil light. He truly wanted what was best for Eva, but his viewpoint was now skewed. He believed that Burgundi had kidnapped Eva to twist her into a brainwashed servant with dark magics. Iris tried to explain that that wasn't what had happened, but he wouldn't listen. All he knew was that his "sick little girl" had been taken prisoner by an "evil witch." Using his considerable influence and wealth, he hired multiple agents to locate Eva and bring her back to the Einhorn Estate, irregardless of her wishes.

The Story Part 2: Training Montage, Interrupted!

Eva spent the next few years studying in Great Britain under various tutors introduced to her through Burgundi, learning such things as was expected from a goddess of wisdom & knowldege's mortal representative.

After she was judged to know the more conventional subjects well enough, Eva began her apprenticeship to an old-time blacksmith. She absolutely did not see the point in this, as there were quicker ways to work metal now. This opinion was further expounded by her near spectacular failure the first time she attempted to make a sword.* Unfortunately this would prove to be a sign of things to come, as she barely improved at all. She was finally able to craft a decent pair of knives but that was it. She swore never to pick up the blacksmith's hammer again, much to the amusement of her master.
*Let's just say she coughed at the wrong time and leave it at that

Of course, now that she had the knives there was no way she was going to let them go to waste. She began studying how to fight under a friend of the blacksmith, which she took to with gusto, never having been allowed to do anything similar before.

During this same time period, Burgundi reappeared and introduced Eva to a druid named Blaise (he of the deep blue robes and oaken staff), who was, in his own words, "here to introduce you to the mysteries of the universe, and advise you in matters arcane." Which basically translated into magic teacher. It was quickly discovered that aside from the talent lent to her by the goddess, Eva didn't have much aptitude for magic. This did not dissuade Blaise, however. He insisted that even though "much may be beyond your ability to perform, but nothing is beyond your ability to know." She took to it as well as she could, but there were still things that Eva felt flew right by her. Blaise claimed it would make sense in time, to which Eva scoffed. Aside from knowledge of the occult, Blaise also helped Eva develop the pyromantic abilities gifted by Burgundi (whom Blaise referred to as Brigantia).

It needs to be said that throughout this time Eva sorely missed her family, especially Elsa. Yes, even at times her father, despite his (as she thought) poor intentions. However freedom still meant too much to her to consider returning, not to mention what Burgundi would think.

It was during one of these lessons that Otto's first agent appeared.

The Story Part 2 Aspect: *sigh* Alright, what do I have to do next?

***

Pre-Phase 4

Eva's latest assignment for her patron brought her to the United States of America for the first time. She was to travel to New Orleans and see if the recent disappearences were the work of Burgundi's former servant, the ancient witch Ceridwen, and if so to "deal with the situation." Right. Just how in die H÷lle was she supposed to "deal with" an immortal witch? Whatever. The first step was figuring out what was going on though. If it did turn out to be Ceridwen, well she'll burn that bridge when she gets there.

Phase Four: Guest starring in Dex Darvit's story

Eva had unfortunately discovered that it was Ceridwen. Since she didn't think she was up to handling everything on her own, she recruited the help of the local warden, Delphiki, much to his disappointment. Since Eva had found out that it was mostly a certain gang that was being taken, she and the warden went to see the newest member to be released from juvie. He turned out to be a budding geomancer named Dex, who agreed with reluctance to help them. Eva and Delphiki tailed Dex until he was snatched by a skeletal minion of Ceridwen. They followed Dex and his captor back to a small warehouse in what seemed to be an abandoned area, with the assistance of Jeffrey "Wild Feather" Lang, an eagle shapeshifter who acted as their eye in the sky. Eva and Delphiki blindsided the skeleton before it could enter and freed Dex; now all that was left was to go inside and finish the job. Both Eva and Dex agreed to take care of any skeletons while Delphiki handled Ceridwen. He was the warden, after all.

Luckily, the plan went off without a hitch. With Eva's pyromancy and Dex's geomancy they were able to handle the mooks long enough for Delphiki to pull a Highlander on Ceridwen. The remaining skeletons fell apart afterwards, no longer having the witch's lifeforce to power their animation ritual.

Once the cleanup and congrats were through, Eva decided to stick around New Orleans for a while. Unless her goddess had other plans, of course.

Phase Four Aspect: Warden's Little Helper

***

Phase Five: Guest Starring in Heather McGwire's story

A while after the Ceridwen incident, Eva was once again contacted by Burgundi. This time she was to meet one Heather McGwire at the airport and assist her with a Black Court Vampire hunt. Heather wasn't alone, however. She was in the company of what Eva immediately recognized as a Nixie. This made Eva take a closer look at Heather, whom she pegged as a changeling. For the moment Eva kept this to herself.

The three of them searched for a bit to no avail, and Heather decided to call in a friend of hers to assist, a man named Derek Matherson. The three of them continued the search, during which Eva revealed Heather's heritage to her. Due to some of Derek's contacts, they were able to locate the vampire and finish it off.

Phase Five Aspect: Eva the <s>Vampire</s> Undead Slayer

***

Skills, etc.

To start out: 6 refresh pts, 20 skill pts, skill cap at "great."
Musts: Must take "Marked by Power," any supernatural powers taken must reflect Brigid/Burgundi.

Skills (3 good, 3 fair, 5 average):
  • Good - Alertness - Eva is always on the look out for anyone sent by her father.
  • Good - Conviction - Conviction is needed to make use of the magic granted by Burgundi.
  • Good - Discipline - Also required for magic. Eva doesn't want to set herself on fire <s>anymore</s> after all.
  • Fair - Endurance - As goddess of healing, Burgundi grants Eva greater endurance.
  • Fair - Stealth - Likewise, sometimes Eva finds it easier when they don't even find her to begin with.
  • Fair - Weapons - As a project during her tutelage, Eva was required to take up blacksmithing for a short time (which Burgundi is also a goddess of). She wasn't all that good, but she learned how to use the pair of knives she made anyway. Sometimes they come in handy to disable would-be kidnappers, when using magic isn't an option.
  • Avg - Presence - As an emissary, having a "presence" sometimes makes all the difference.
  • Avg - Athletics - When confronted by her father's people, sometimes the easiest thing to do is <s>run away</s> strategically withdraw.
  • Avg - Empathy - Eva derives a certain amount of empathic ability from Burgundi's aspect as a goddess of the home & hearth.
  • Avg - Lore - Druidic knowledge falls under Burgundi's purview as well, but studying up on the magic she provides isn't Eva's favorite thing.
  • Avg - Scholarship - Another of Burgundi's responsibilities is a goddess is wisdom, so she likes Eva to be knowledgeable. Also, having parents from two countries, Eva is fluent in both German and English. Though she does tend to swear in German even when otherwise speaking English. Eva normally speaks English in an Irish accent (due to her mother teaching her), but when she gets emotional it fades and her original German accent comes to the for.
Stunts:
  • Alertness - Paranoid? Probably (Gain +2 to Alertness when rolling against surprise.) - Eva has spent so much time dodging attempts by her father to reclaim her that paranoia is hardwired into her by now.
Refresh cost = -1 (Total refresh pts left so far = 5)
Powers:
  • Marked by Power - Eva has been chosen as Emissary of Burgundi. To those with eyes to see, this is displayed in the form of Brigid's Cross tattooed upon her brow.
Skills affected - Empathy, lore, scholarship (all falling under Burgundi's domain)
Refresh cost = -1 (Total refresh pts left so far = 4)
  • <s>Wizard's Constitution</s> Burgundi's Blessing - As emissary of a goddess of healing, Eva is blessed with long life and the ability to recover from injuries a little better than the next guy.
    Skills affected - Endurance
Refresh cost = -0 (Total refresh pts so far = 4)
  • The Sight - One of the first things taught during her esoteric lessons, Eva is now able to perceive the magical world in great detail. The downside here is that the often phantasmagorical images are burned into her brain - never forgotten, always vivid.
    Skills affected - Lore, Discipline
Refresh cost = -1 (Total refresh pts left so far = 3)
  • Channeling - Burgundi is goddess of high-rising flames. She has granted Eva the ability to use pyromancy.
Channeling provides two free focus item slots. Eva has modified her knives so they also suit this purpose. One knife provides offensive control and the other provides defensive control.
    Skills affected - Discipline, Conviction
Refresh cost = -2 (Total refresh point left so far = 1)
End total: Refresh points = 1, which translates to 1 Fate point.

Skill modifiers:
Alertness = +3 (+5 if rolling against surprise)
Conviction = +4
Discipline = +4
Endurance = +2
Stealth = +2
Weapons = +2
Presence = +1
Athletics = +1
Empathy = +1
Lore = +1
Scholarship = +1

Hey, yall, we need to start some more detailed discussions than forumposts. In particular I really need to start going over your characters with you to get a better idea of who you are and who you're going to be, so I can make sure that the campaigns give you plenty of opportunities to shine.

So I need every one of you to contact me, and not through PMs. I suck with PMs. I forget about them.

My AIM is nugarthebarb
My yahoo is nugarthebarbarian
my ICQ is 37606443

And I'm gonna try to get in an IRC room fairly soon. I already had one in mind, but I want to swear that Vesvius told me about another place where instead of having to interpret normal dicerolls they actually had a fate dicebot that I could invite? Somehow I seem to have lost that information. So Ves, or whomever it was, since I'm a little name scrambled right now, could you post that information again in this thread?

We also need to start figuring out available times for everyone. I'd like to get everyone together in a big sit down hashout for finishing up our characters with each other at some point this week.

For the purposes of game mechanics, you're limited to the two crossovers, but for the puposes of knowing each other? Go to town. You can crossover as many people as you want, as far as I'm concerned. You're all gonna end up working with each other at some point, anyway.

Also, Lamb (Predhack on here) has bailed on playing, but is gonna hang around as a DM assistant. Considering the size of the group I was gonna need an assistant for some of the split up scenes, and I'd originally planned on asking some of you who'd already DMed, but it actually works out better this way. I'd prefer to keep you as pure players because believe me, I know how it is to be a DM and never get to play. <_<

Yeah, I made some spelling and word choice mistakes in those public character sheets. It's Delphiki, not Dephiki, and Council, not Court, when talking about the wizards. Too many Courts, not enough councils.

I got a milk run game planned out at the moment for our first session, which, actually, will start out as a straight up sparring session with Wizard Platt and Warden Delphiki, with everything ranging from fisticuffs to magical kicks in the shin, and a pop up target range on the estate. This is to reflect your training under the wizard. If you're an character with high ranks in one form of combat or another, you're there as a supplementary instructor.

The reason we're doing this is so that everyone gets at least a few dicerolls of practice in dealing with the entirely new game system. If you have used it before, your advice will be invaluable. Talk to me before the game starts, I have questions, and you'll be a source of reminders as we game.

Hopefully, that won't take long, and then I've got a fairly short adventure planned for after that with multiple routes of resolution.

After two or three minor adventures everyone's going up to 7 refresh 25/skill, and we'll start gaming in earnest after that. Lots of reshuffling opportunities in these first adventures, so don't sweat it if you suddenly realise that your build isn't what you really wanted.

Contact me!

Edit: And if you do add me on AIM or whatever? Send me a message as well, okay?

I still need a second crossover. Anyone willing? Post-Phase 4 with Nemi I'm in New Orleans, fresh from an adventure involving an immortal, former emissary man-eating witch, which we dealt with along with Warden Delphiki.

Phase One:

Jeffrey grew up in the mountains of New Jersey, in a small town called Hardyston. Far enough away from the big city (or indeed, any city, as Sussex county is a mix of farmland and forested mountains that keeps away shopping malls, clubs, and -mostly-trouble) to retain a slightly more relaxed style of life, yet close enough that big city entertainment is possible, Jeffrey dutifully enrolled in one of the towns favored programs, Boy Scouts of American, where Jeffrey learned an appreciation for all things natural. The forest would forever hold a magic to Jeffrey that sometimes, other people just didn't get. Evidently, other people didn't "Get it" enough that Jeffrey had a very hard time socializing with others, but of the few he could he close to, Jeffrey is incredibly protective of. While his middle-class parents have done the best they could to help him "fit in" inevitably, Jeffrey's protective nature, while ensuring he formed close bonds with a few people, disallowed him to make any bonds with others.

Jeffrey's naturally inclination towards nature -the forest in particular- combined with his natural proclivity towards readings books, has educated him of the many mythos of fae, faerie, and rarely, the seelie and unseelie. Of course, such study took time that should probably have been spent socializing with his peers as he studies for his degree in Criminal Psychology at a nearby college, but his frequent treks into the forest kept him suitably interested.

Phase Aspect: Territorial Loyalty

Phase 2:

Jeffrey, naturally, continued his Boy Scout career to it's apex, an Eagle scout. Still, time spent dedicated to learning useful, albeit outdated methods estranged him from his peers, and his many charitable works did not leave him a lot of time to make friends. Socialization was of a low priority for him, and while Jeffrey is fiercely protective of his friends and property, he isn't a friendly person by nature. As a result, he was almost at both his middle and high schools unconditionally labeled as an outcast from most cliques. The few times an olive branch was extended to him by people outside his circle, they turned out to be tricks. And sometimes, on his progressively more often camping trips occurred, he began to notice something suspicious about his much beloved forest, though for the longest time he'd been unable as to decipher how and why...

Phase Aspect: Suspicious Nature

Phase 3:

It had started as a bit of a joke, one between friends. Sure, Jeffrey had a smattering of Native American ancestry (to be technical, he was more Native American than any other nationality, but it didn't really mean anything, right?), but that didn't mean he put any thought into their mysticism. While he was intellectually aware it was a bit foolish, and probably not well received by his peers, he couldn't help but be a bit curious if there really was something more than he could see with his own two eyes in that forest. Rumor had it that one of the more verdant glades within the forest played host to a spirit of the ancient Mooshkiingw, a hero of the tribes who'd held this land before the English had forced them off their land. A little preliminary research had lead him to believe it was best to bring fresh fruit and/or vegetables, and he took both with him on a trek up the mountain. Stopping at the summit, he found a flat surface and drew a circle, closing it to be the best of his knowledge. Perhaps he'd just been lucky, or he'd done sufficient research before attempting this stunt, but as he tried to invoke anything magical, something appeared.

As to what, he wasn't exactly sure, nor what it wanted, but it appeared to eat his offering of food. That was good, he hoped, as he paced about, wondering what exactly he wanted to know. Native American tribes were well known to have a strong symbolic bond with nature -animals in particular- so, possibly it knew a way for him to, at will, morph into one, while still controlling his mind and body? Yet, how to phrase such a request, and better still, how to pay for it? Knowledge is something that generally cost in some way, and had to be earned. What did he have to offer any being that understood how to bend or distort the laws of physics? Eventually, a deal was struck. Jeffrey would learn how to change his body into that of a bald eagle, while retaining his mind, and in return, he'd owe the spirit a favor, so long as he didn't have to do anything against his moral code. At the time, it had seemed like such a steal, but then again, at the time, Jeffrey hadn't known he was dealing with a wylde fae.

Still, life moved on, and Jeffrey successfully completed his degree in criminal psychology. Anxious to leave the area, Jeffrey searched around the job openings available to him. There was one in New York, but that seemed a little close to the -now increasingly suspect, but also worrying- deal he'd made with a wylde fae. He then heard of an opening near New Orleans, and in his gut Jeffrey felt like that was the right place to be. And, to be honest, that was the better paying of the two jobs, and he did need to start paying those student loans back soon. As soon as he'd moved and settled in, however, he began to encounter (at least a distance at first, there were some perks to being an eagle) some things that go bump in the night.

It didn't hurt that one of his friends- that he'd thought was enlisted in the navy- was also down in New Orleans too. And while Mike had never seemed like the religious type after he became an adult, Jeffrey was very surprised to see he'd taken up a voodoo life-style. Too surprised, in fact, and with his recent spotting of some... Not so natural things, Jeffrey began to a do a little investigating of his own, in between hours at the police station interviewing suspects.

Guest Starring: Spooky

Somehow, Jeffrey got mixed up in the shenanigans of a newly released juvenile offender. Admittedly, these were supernatural shenanigans, and mostly, Jeffrey provided recon and made if easy for them to get in and out without any nasty surprises, but Jeffrey couldn't help but feel a close bond with the pair he'd met, and eventually, helped defeat an evil witch with. Maybe it wasn't so bad to be with people, as long as they weren't better than he was at what he did, at least.
