Hmm. I'll make one such topic for every fandom, I guess.

My first idea: What if Shinji was actually Tabris, the 17th Angel... while Kaworu was the human? Role reversal ahoy!

It'd certainly completely muck up the Dead Sea Scrolls prophecy, since this role reversal would definitely make the prophecies invalid.

Well... what would stop Gendo from getting it the first time he does something to annoy Shinji? He could.. dunno activate his AT field in a fit of rage and slice him...

No berserker state either (unless 01 wants him dead, but in that case it wouldn't work against angels...)

Raised? :unsure: Well, she wasn't raised as an Angel I guess but, I'm not sure raised is the right word (grown maybe? But not raised).

Hmm. But I'm going to assume, if you're raised human, you are act like a human. So, if Shinji was raised like the screwed up kid he was, he'd probably still be like that, even if he had a few things that were clearly NOT human.

Meh, if you're just going to shuffle the people around then that's all ready been done a few times, the first with a Random fic called 'Shufflebout' which is no longer posted anywhere and the second with Innortal's 'True Angel', I'm pretty sure anyway.

No, no. My idea is that Shinji would STILL be the Third, but at the same time he's *also* Tabris. Not just some man-made Angel, like in Innortal's fic... the 17th Angel himself.

Yes, it'd completely screw up the whole final part. It also could be an interesting idea.

Now the question is, would Shinji/Tabris KNOW he's the 17th..and if so, at what point of the story would he know this? Before the story begins? After arriving on the 'Over the Rainbow' with it's cargo of Kaji and Adam? Would give the kid a whole new reason to be fucked in the head at an rate. And how would you handle the whole Kawouru thing? Would he be another of the angels,just a different number, or a human dedicated to SEELE's ideals and genetically modified to use the EVA's as he sees fit? Though since Gainax came out with that XX series of Angel toys I've enjoyed the idea of Tabris being a girl. Beats the hell outta Shinji batting for the other side.

So... practicly if third impact does take place the outcome is going to be totally different. The angels fullfill their objective in the most unexpected way. This time around Shinji's probably be the one in control of the end/birth of a the world.

I say Shinji should never know about it, until later in the series, that way we can get more psychological trauma problems to go with all the other ones. I mean come on the kid would probably have a nervous break down trying to decide what to do.......destroy humanity and get his wish to not have to come in contact with people......or keep things the way they are.


As to Kawouru.....hrm. I say we leave him the way he is. Instead have them both be the potential 17 Angel, just that one has to destroy the other in order to obtain the title.

Okay, so maybe it's not a new idea. But it is one worth exploring, if for nothing else than the comedy potential.

I mean, hell, this just about automatically makes the Touji/Hikari thing a tsun-dere couple.

But here's that same idea inversed in a disturbing way, wrong topic, but whatever.

Negima: Gender-reversed.

And you know what that means, don't you? Negi-chan with a WHOOOOOOOOOLE lot ta' male's bumbling around for her affection. ^^

Which is exactly why I think we shouldn't do it. I don't know why but the female Shinji idea has never sat well with me, and I mean more over, think of the Misato/Shinji interactions. When it's a older chick doing that to a guy, it's okay. Older dude though, teasing a little girl, eh, comedic value just isn't there ya know?


Still female Kowaru.....I think that should be explored.

Well, the kind of teasing Misato normally dishes out would, IMO, not happen if it were Dude!Misato. Guys the world over know that the stigma of misbehaving around minors applies double to you if you possess a Y chromosome. Dude!Misato would likely tease Girl!Shinji about her personal life, maybe make an offhand comment about her "development" when a little too deep in his drinks, but not be all touchy-flirty. That's something a female can get away with that a male can't, and I think any male in first-world society would know this lesson well.

And, as a bonus, we'd almost certainly get to see Boy!Asuka getting all territorial over Girl!Shinji, and then spending twice as long denying it. ^_^

Still female Kowaru... I think that should be explored.

GH, I know that getting off topic get deter from an idea at times, but you're being a bit overwhelming. I passingly mentioned another idea for a different fandom and you're getting on our case. That sort of reminds me of some stuff at Fukufics. <_< Talk about restrictive.

That's not the problem, F1. The problem is that I'm interested in that Negima idea, but this simply is the wrong thread to talk about it, and there IS another topic for misc ideas... simce I'd like to discuss this, could we use the appropriate topic so as not to make this one derail into another fandom that has nothing to do with NGE?

I'm not exactly a saint myself when it comes to thread hijacking, but when an idea interests me, I'd like to discuss it in the right thread, is all.
