Think Gray is actually evil, or just a really convincing double-agent?
Gray has a hate boner for END. Kinda sad, considering...

But more important than Graysuke, Gajeel and Pantherlily are looking badass as hell!

It only pisses me off even more that Happy hasn't shown anything else except his restraint.

Hopefully Happy still has something under his non-existent sleeves. Because he is the kind of character that would think that his restraint is more impressive than some fighting technique. Hell, for all we know he could be able to break the sound barrier while flying.

His max speed technique is about the most impressive thing he has under his belt that other cat's haven't outright trumped him with yet so that's pretty much the only thing he has going for him. Which saddens me since I like the mascot or less humanoid characters being obscenely badass if given the right incentive, see Chopper.

Granted Fairy Tail Juggles an absurd amount of characters already when compared to most in terms of keeping them consistently relevant, but it's kinda sad that PantherLily has his badass transformation and sword, and Charle has foresight and can transform too, but Happy can just fly fast in pressing situations, which arguably they might be able to do too.

Really though the fact that Lucy got a pretty amazing upgrade is in itself more relevant, but still I like to see Happy get some moments too.

New chapter up on Mangastream.

Virgo continues to be a Masochist, and Natsu proceeds to kick ass and give no fucks about not taking his enemies names.

It was interesting to have the little clown guy be named Abel and it being confirmed that he got the Mr. Cursey Doll from Grimoire Heart's Kain. No word on what this means for Kain himself and Abel went down before he could do anything noteworthy.

And finally Natsu and Gray meet once more.

I'm glad Natsu is still stomping people left and right. He was confirmed to be on Gildartz level, which would put him in the top 10 in the world in terms of raw power. It wouldn't make sense for him to struggle with normal people. That's one thing Mashima does so much better than other authors; he understands power scale. He's clearly defined Natsu as being a powerful mage (with ridiculous potential) from the beginning and has been scaling his power upwards ever since, and it shows.

And I like that Natsu, despite growing more mature and confident, is still Natsu. He's very intelligent, but he's straight forward. He knows the other mages aren't really any threat to him, and he knows there's a time limit to stopping Gray from killing Frosch. And I'm really liking Lucy's new magic, and the comparison to Erza. It's a good indicator of her growth, and not an innacurate comparison in terms of how their magic works.

Overall, it's one of the manga I really go out of my way to read each week still.

So 429 and 430 is up.

And Graysuke is no more thankfully. All in all, a fairly nice way to start the inevitable beatdown to come to the Avatar Guild.

Also, Cell phones are apparently really fancy Lacrima controlled devices.

More like he never was and jumping to conclusions right away means the author did his job in taking you for a ride and surprising you pleasantly =)

Oh I knew he wasn't. It was just funny how similar the situations could've ended up to each other that I couldn't help but make the parallels.

That, and I actually got the Graysuke thing from Mangastream, and it was a funny nickname so I went with it.

Still pissed that Happy is still just a mascot character, but everyone else is fucking awesome.

Also, Juvia inherited Gray's stripping habits I see!

Oh Juvia.
Juvia and Gray are married. That's all there is to it.

The two newest chapters are out, and 436 is probably the best chapter we've gotten the entire series.

435 is basically what you'd expect. They beat the bad guy and celebrate along with some newcomers.

436 is a look into Zeref's past, how he made END, why and ENDs true identity. It also reveals Acnologias true form.

It may just be me...but Acnologias looks a lot like how Natsu did when he had long hair.

Think there's anything of the original, non-Etherious Natsu buried somewhere in the current Natsu? Or maybe he's a completely separate existence that owns the body/name now.

OK see, now I am hella confused at what the deal was with Edoras sp? Natsu. Is he an Etherious too? Or, given that most folks in that world didn't have active magic, maybe Zeref had a totally different magical effect on stuff.

Well, I could be wrong, but I think Natsu is Natsu. I can't see Zeref settling for a demon just inhabiting the empty husk of his brother, not to mention, Natsu has the same, all loving personna that Zeref had before his curse really drove him into a corner. The etherious can transfer from body to body. I'm thinking Zeref found a way to bind Natsu's soul, turn it into an etherious and reanimate him. Igneel probably just managed to cut that etherious aspect away from him.

Emerald, I don't think Edolas Natsu was an etherious or anything but a simple human. Nichiya was a cat, Wendy was all grown up, etc.

Also, something really interesting of note is that apparently there's a second Fairy Tail movie confirmed, and Natsu will turn into a dragon. This could be absolutely epic.

And, this to me, really signifies why Natsu being able to one shot Bluenote, the whole of Avatar and even the god makes a lot of sense. Dragons are the absolute rulers of the world. Zeref himself has stated that Acnologia's power is enough to rule. Natsu has the same DNA and arguably magical potential/prowess as Zeref, the single greatest wizard to have ever lived, bar none. Combine that with the fact that Zeref super charged him by making him an Etherious. And he also was trained by the strongest dragon and will almost certainly turn into a dragon. Everything about Natsu's lineage screams that he should be a physical god, and it's shaping up to be that way.

You know, the more I think about this, the more I realize how brilliant Mashima has been. People have been seriously complaining, and Ive still enjoyed the series, but he's been giving us all kinds of crazy foreshadowing for a long time.

When I have more time, I'll do a breakdown of all the hints, foreshadowing, etc Ive seen since I re-read the series, But for now, there's one really interesting question thats been nagging at me:

Is Mavis also an etherious? If you notice, her body is being preserved in the same kind of crystal as Natsu's was. And she learned some of her most important magic from Zeref, and given how familiar they are, it's pretty obvious their history is much greater than that few days they were together and he taught her some magic. And she also declared herself a black mage, perhaps jokingly. And Lumen Histoire was also once referenced as Fairy Tail's darkness.

Never forget.

It was stated by Igneel and the others that they hid away in the dragon slayers' bodies to provide antibodies to prevent them from turning in to dragons like Acnologia. Not to say that it's impossible, since new stuff can always be revealed, but what we currently know would suggest that he won't become a dragon.

Although we also now know it's possible for a dragon slayer who became a dragon to return to their original human form, at least temporarily, so...

The new movie coming out's poster is Natsu turning into a dragon with the word Dragonify on it. And I actually re-read the chapters last night, and Igneel said that there is almost no chance of it happening, not zero chance. And that the process had already begun anyways, but their antibodies should prevent it from going any further. Presumably, dragon force is the in between step, and up to that point, no one but Natsu had it achieved it naturally.

Page where Igneel mentions dragonification.

Actually Wendy did herself right before that, in a similar fashion to how Natsu did both times, absorbing energy from an empowered source.

I'm talking about how Natsu did it during the Mard Geer fight when Natsu did it on his own, no elemental or energy source absorption. He's the only one to do it without an outside energy source, until Wendy did it during the battle between Lamia Scale and Bluenote's guild.
