he Linebarrel mechs look a LOT like the ones in Z.o.E., wonder if that's coincidence...
It actually looks alot like the mecha designs from Xenogears as well.

And Okami+Gundam=Bergelmir?

Ungh. Personally I believe most Btech designs are rather hit or miss; the Blood Asp and Shadow Cat showing two of my most common gripes. Why, oh why make the location of your cockpit so hideously prominent and vulnerable? The Vulture has a more sensible layout, and reduced field of view from things beneath...? Easily solved by a gun-camera. As for the Blood Asp; missiles. Things that explode. Right at the center torso. Where most people would normally aim at, as a matter of course. Granted, many other designs do this, but at least the Atlas puts the launchers at an angle, off to the sides, and we take it for granted that its primary saving grace is a monstrous amount of armor.

That said, the Uziel:

Protected cockpit, rounded armor, missile pod location less critical to the 'mech in case of blow-out... seriously, I'm surprised why this is said to be not so well-armored as it appears to be. The leg structure's a bit complex, but it's a very well-rounded mech suited for mass production.

edit:
Well, it IS a mass-production 'mech, after all. What's the hate-on for mass-production types in most mecha media? It's where you distill the most elements that make sense; THEN spam them at the enemy. Never are heroes all the most badass as when they do it in a mass-production or until then second-tier machine; proving it's the man that makes the mecha dangerous, not vice versa.

Not Wing's plot armor, though. That's just lame.

Amuro kicking ass in melee with a Guncannon? Awesome!
yea, but then there's the kinds of mechs that you send in a squad of and the only way to beat the bloody thing is send in enough troops(more like fodder) that they run out of ammo/armor.

Also battletech mechs i believe have something called a CASE system(can't remember what it stands for) that detects an imminent breech of ammo stores and purges the whole thing seconds before it can detonate.

but back to my point, about the only damned thing that could get rid of this monster is an orbital/aerospace fighter strike or possibly a equal number of the same class of mech. That said, if I were stuck in the BT universe this would be the ONLY mech you would ever find me in if I had a choice.

I dare you to find a more powerful beast of awesome power in the same universe as this one. I laugh in scorn at your Blood Asp.

Turkina's not bad - actually there is a lot that is good about it. But the weapons layouts aren't great (a common fault with Omnis). I'd take a Blood Kite.

I was originally going for the Timber Wolf and to those who don't know, the original Mad Cat. Not the Mk II. That thing is a deus ex on legs. But like I said in my post, there's no good images of it which is heavily disappointing.

If we're just going by pretty pictures I'm a might partial to this one.

Just going by the aesthetics of the Mecha, I just love the look of the Highlander IIC.

If where talking favorite design I'd have to go with the munched out 2 ER PPC, Gauss Rifle, 4 ER Medium, TarComp all Clan tech Marauder II Bounty Hunter. The Bounty Hunter himself is a combination of Dread Pirate Roberts and Boba Fett and used to paint at least his old Marauder green with gold cbill symbols.

Apologies for the necro, but I was watching some SRW Z vids recently. I happened to come across some footage of Destiny Gundam. Having dropped SEED Destiny long before this little marvel appeared, I was pleasantly surprised by its capabilities.

In terms of its design and armaments, it's an impressive generalist. Energy Wings, Afterimages. Neither as good as the UC originals, but developed in a fraction of the time. Positron cannon for sniping at capital ships, beam rifle and boomerangs for mid-range combat, Anti-ship sword, hand-lazor and boomerang-sabers for close range combat.

<s>Don't even get me started on the awesomeness of a sword with a beam-saber in the middle. Energy blade with physical weight and heft?</s>

SEED's tech has some seriously awesome stuff happening. OK, so I find the plot lacking and the characters inconsistent. And Shinn is a particularly clumsy expy of Kamille, with none of that character's redeeming features. But the technology and certain mecha and weaponry concepts were brilliant.

So, yeah. Destiny is now on my list.

Reals

Zeta Gundam
Hi-Nu Gundam
Destiny Gundam
Alteisen
Weissritter
R-Gun
Gundam X-Divider

Supers

Neo Granzon
Astranagant
Gurren Lagann
Iblis
Thrudgelmir

EDIT: for the Sword of Magus.

Which R-Gun? The R-Gun Rivale can fight evenly with the SRX, which is a Super Robot, so it'd probably count as a Super itself...

Vanilla R-Gun. Not Powered, and not Rivale. It's technically the weakest, but it's got the widest pilot base, and the Metal Genocider is nothing to sneeze at.

I'll try to give it a shot here.

The Hunchback, the medium battlemech I always seem fond of when I want a brawler.

The Thanatos is a fun mech that I love to use to wreck havoc on my foes.

Who doesn't love the Atlas when you need an assault battlemech? I enjoy using a self-configured Awesome, but the Atlas is also fun.

Too bad none of the games allow you to literally brawl. The last picture would be so fun to emulate.

I would certainly wish for a Mechwarrior game where you can brawl. Imagine axing other mechs to scrap metal with a Hatchetman or its big brother the Axeman or emulating the Atlas pic.

I could imagine that FASA could finance a gaming company to make a Mechwarrior game where you can emulate mech brawling from the Battletech boardgame, if they want to.

Not Battletech, but it does have giant robots with replaceable parts beating each other into scrap metal with bare hands.
Look interesting in that you practically can act like a Frankestein and create your own mech monstrosity.

The mech depicted her makes me think of the Hatchetman battlemech equipped with jump jets, only that the axe or hatchet's been replaced with a buzz saw.

I vaguely recall that game from ages gone by.

Still

If you're want constimizable mechs with an option to brawl..

Armored Core Series is as close you can get from what I've experienced.

The mech I've had the most fun with is the MechWarrior Merc's Puma.
There's nothing like running around a battlefield filled with 100 ton assault mechs in a 35 ton light mech carrying a LBX20, ER large laser, ER small laser.
