Weltall from Xenogears fucking kicks ass. Seriously, a gear that can kill God, what more do you need?

Hmm, while not as powerful as other series giant robots I like the Battletech Mechs.

My favorite is probably the "Stormcrow" (I unfortunatly have no pics or schematics on hand so I can't list everything) It's not nessecarily the best looking mech, but it's versatile as hell.

It's a middle weight(I think 55 tons) mech with 4 ( I believe it was 4 anyway) different configurations

It's base model is basically a laser platform, I don't believe it has any ballistic weaponry, but if it does it's small calibur. In most mech having that many Lasers on one mech is often a bad thing as it could overheat the mech, but the Stormcrow had great heatsinks.

Other models of the Stormcrow include what is basically a mobile missle platform, another with one arm made into an autocannon and the other loaded with pulse lasers. I'm not sure but I believe there is also a Stormcrow varient with a gauss cannon.

It's got good speed for it's weight class, The stormcrow's one disadvantage though is that it's armor is not as heavy as other clan mechs in he same weight class. Though I believe it's still better defended or at least equally so to Inner Sphere mechs of the same weight class.

I mentioned back on the 23rd of last month that my favourite Mech is the Battletech Universes' Mad Cat/Timber Wolf-class mech.

Behold, 75 tons of sheer power and menace...

And here are her stats.
woot! a good picture of a mad cat :X

couldn'T find one in over two hours of searching - it is the sleekest, meanest, most kick-ass machine to ever appear in the mechwarrior games. (yes, squeaky mecha fanboyism here. I still get the shivers from the mechcommander intro :D )

now I know that in battletech/mechwarrior the tonnage of a mech means alot but the tonnage on those mechs is a freaking joke as a the current main battle tank of the us army weighs almost 70tons

that said I have way to many mecha designs that I like to pick a favorite

The usual weight for a battle tank in Battletech is between 60 tons and upwards (although there are many lighter tanks). Battlemechs are explicitly about the same weight as tanks but rather larger.

Too bad the 'God' was just a freaky mutant bioweapon that was pathetically easy to kill even with regular Gears. Siebzehn did all the job for me. :snigger:

Here's one of mine :

Can you say BIIIIIIG gun ? On the model (18cm high), the gun is 25cm long :snigger:

Edit : forgot the name

This one is the MSZ-006C1, also known as the Zeta Plus C1 variant.

Every time I read those pseudogerman names - in -any- anime or japanese product, I get angry shivers.

Why?

Because a.) they make no sense, b.) are always written/spoken completely wrong and c.) don't fit into the setting ,one bit.

It is like saying "Feuerball no jutsu" - something I wish to gouge my own eyes out for even writing (Feuerball = Fireball, and I'm a strict "Stick to one language - say Grand Fireball technique or Goukakyu no Jutsu, but not Fireball no Jutsu. ever."-believer.)

Aside from that: FASA knew what to steal from, at least :D

If tanks weigh that much in battletech they should be a hell of alot harder to kill then mechs since they would have more armor per sq/in in addition to having just as heavy a weapon system as mechs have

bleh its not like its actually a big deal but I've always thought the mechs were way to light in comparison to there abilities

mechs usually have the benefits of a massively higher payload - a 60 ton tank fields three gauss cannons at best, a BM of 60 tons can have a gauss cannon, several S/L-RM packs, (impulse) lasers, autocannons and whatnot, plus there's no need for refueling every few hundred KM thanks to the fusion reactor.

Pardon a simple person who knows barely anything regarding battlemech, but why not put a reactor in the tank? :huh.:

Your asking why to put a reacter in a mech when you list a mech from a series where they put a nuclear generator in the most powerful mechs?

Eh, I'll take a Bolo over any Mechwarrior contraptions any day of the week.

Granted, Bolos are like the Gundam of tanks...

No no, i ask why they DON'T put the reactor in the tanks, especially considering it's a fusion. :sisi:

In that case the answer is obvious. If you blow up a reacter you have abig explosion. A big explosion is good, except when it destroys your own allies.

Ah. But still, it's a fusion. the damge it causes is micro compared to fission. make sure your tanks are far enough apart, and you'd be okay, wouldn't you? i'm confusing meself now

Basically a smaller tank that weighed the same as a much larger mech that was using the same technology would most likely be significantly more powerful and durable. Of course I understand that anything mecha is badass, it should just make more sense that its badass.

They can put reactors in tanks and it's actually quite the weight saving as well as allowing much easier use of energy weapons. However, this makes tanks significantly more expensive so usually the reactors are saved for Mechs (that are used by the relatively elite soldiers).

Also, tanks and other ground vehicles are somewhat more limited in what terrain they can handle. They tend to be given specialised roles compared to Mechs, which are pretty much workhorses that can fight almost anywhere. Plus, as one of the novels puts it, the limitation of tanks is that they can't jump up and down on top of other tanks.

Bolos are to Mechs what the Death Star is to the GDI Ion Cannon - they're both machines, but thats where the similarities end.

At least if I'm correct with the Bolos - those are the self-sustained AI-equipped tanks with anti-orbital firepower, yes?

You got taste. The only gundam that does not look like some oversized candy or a digitized action figure (rather, something digital that got made into an action figure, woot!)

I found that pretty cool

Yeah, that's them. A single Mark XXX and above Bolo can take on a heavily defended planet alone and wipe all its defenses out. They kinda define 'overkill'.

Man, NGE would have been rather anticlomatic if Shinji got his hands on a Bolo.

"The Angel raised it's AT Field! O NOES, it's unbreakable! Whatever shall we do?"

*THOOM*

"...uh, well. That was... effective."

That is like going ZA WARUDO on a frog. including the steamroller.

Bolos fit in pretty much no fandom, since the PTO / PTS capabilities make it so ridiculously overpowered (planet to orbit/space, respectively) that it'd destroy all sense and meaning.

tho, Harry Potter in his Bolo vs Voldemort or Naruto vs. Ninja World ("Yo, can you get to me before I go Hellbore on you?"), that would be nice to watch :D
