I know several people who have stated that Bolo's are about on Par with an ImpStarDeus. That means it is pretty damn powerful

It's a Star Destroyer on threads, all right. I don't think anything short of a bona fide Super Robot can take on a high end Bolo and get out of it in one piece.

Only mecha that I can think of that could easily take down a Bolo is Megas...

The high-end Supers can do it (Ideon, Gunbuster, Genesic GaoGaiGar, Shin Getter, Mazinkaiser, Neo Granzon and Dis Astranagant, plus maybe a few others here and there), but even the Great Mazinger, which is pretty powerful, would be hard pressed to match a Bolo.

And I really can't see anything besides Super 01 match it in Evangelion. Or rather, Super 01 can probably TANG'D the pilot, but Bolos don't nee pilots - they are self aware, and even if you take the pilot out, they can still blow you up. It depends on how you see Super 01, I guess.

Your asking why to put a reacter in a mech when you list a mech from a series where they put a nuclear generator in the most powerful mechs?
No no, i ask why they DON'T put the reactor in the tanks, especially considering it's a fusion. :sisi:
They can put reactors in tanks and it's actually quite the weight saving as well as allowing much easier use of energy weapons. However, this makes tanks significantly more expensive so usually the reactors are saved for Mechs (that are used by the relatively elite soldiers).

Also, tanks and other ground vehicles are somewhat more limited in what terrain they can handle. They tend to be given specialised roles compared to Mechs, which are pretty much workhorses that can fight almost anywhere. Plus, as one of the novels puts it, the limitation of tanks is that they can't jump up and down on top of other tanks.
now you make much sense to addled brain of mine. thank you

Making tang out of the pilot would likely just piss off the Bolo, well, as much as they get pissed off anyway.

Ah. But still, it's a fusion. the damge it causes is micro compared to fission. make sure your tanks are far enough apart, and you'd be okay, wouldn't you? i'm confusing meself now
I imagine the reason would be that one generally expects a tank to get shot at, and remember that the first atomic bombs had enough power to wipe out most of a city, while a reactor has much more power.
Anyway my favorites the Guren Nishiki from Code Geass. Its agile, red, and has a cool microwave weapon for a right hand. Did I mention that its red? I think theres a law that says every good female pilot uses a red mecha.

For some reason the image won't show up.

Kiryu is also pretty cool, could probably kick the rear of just about anything that gets in its way

granted. however, bombs are fission. that has a far greater potential, neh? anyway, all a fusion reactor would do is realse a LOT of heat, along with the shockwave. way cleaner than radiation.

Tallgeese as in the original Leo-prototype, Tallgeese. If I'd meant TallgeeseII or TallgeeseIII...well, I'd have numbered them, Immolo-han. :p

Iblis is an Orbital Frame in Zone of the Enders: Fist of Mars. It's pretty sweet, too. B)

Why would you like Wing Zero Custom? WHY? It is so awful. It can't transform and for some reason it's cannon which can cut through colonies doesn't slice through the president's mansion thing into swiss cheese.

The thing with the Buster Canon can be explained somewhat, in space you have nothing to stop it and the system can easily target fuel lines or other things that would make a nasty bang. The only time it was used against an armored target was in the final battle with on a chunk of one of the spacebattleships, but even there it was a trashed ship that was falling through the atmosphere.

The bunker at the end of Endless Waltz was a fortified bunker reinforced against just about anything and the thing still did enough damage to get through it.

Bah! Just give me a cluster of Mad Cats, and I'll get the job done!
I am not going to mock that comment.
Well.. not too much.
Timberwolves, agaisnt a bolo? heh, even agaoinst a mid level one, they'd be toast and this is without briging BT range issues.

Keep in mind a Mk33 masses over 10.000 tonnes and that the primary helbores can reach geosync without any problems.

MK XXXIII Bolos were capable of going toe to toe with alien warships while said bolo was planet side. And you think a mere cluster would stomp it????

Thanks I needed that.

My favorite mechs... yes I like the origional Robotech Aka Macross designs...I like one other franchises designs as well

Sorry, but Bolo vs. Battlemech is unfair... the Bolos are the /pinnacle/ of modern technology who get steadily improved, whereas the Battletech technology is in a steady - rapid - decline.

And, oh yeah, WH40k titans... pure, massive overkill, but awesomely so xD

Wow, someone ELSE played FoM. Yeah, Iblis was sweet, although I was always partial to Razma's Dreizehn...

Dreizehn had the big-ass cannon, right? The one that would give most of the Gundam cast penis-envy? Yeah, blowing stuff up with Driezehn was cool. I liked Warren's...was it Caliburnus? Or was that Semmy's?

I do, however, wish they had given us some kind of bonus - playing as Jehuty within the FoM setting, or using Iblis itself would have been freakin' cool. ^_^

Is this a "favorite design" or a "favorite mecha" thread?

Anyway, my favorite designs are:

-Zeta Gundam
-Black Selena (Nadesico)
-Huckebein (SRW)

And my favorite mechas overall:

-Genesic Gaogaigar
-Shin (New) Getter Robo
-Banprerios (SRW)

The funny thing is that the Dreizehn is a simple LEV, not an OF. And despite that, he can give most OFs a run for their money as far as firepower goes. It's like a Zaku beating a Gundam in a 'who blows more shit up' battle...
