Hmm does DW Lucifer (Bastard) count as a mecha? Cause that thing defines the term badass.. as far as machines go^_^

Astray Gold Amatu Mina Custom's final upgrade....the Okitsu-no-Kagami beam shield.

Combined with the Trikeros shield system on it's right hand...It's now officially the staple Gundam of CE in terms of offensive/defensive weaponary. :hail:

The Dragon Warrior Armor does indeed count as a super robot, since it's a machine that needs a pilot to do anything. It should be noted, though, that the pilot has to fuse with the Dragon Warrior Armor to use it.

But yeah, it counts as a mecha. It has the size and it has the power, in addition to being essentially a magic-based Super Robot. In SRW terms, it'd be a Masoukishin...

Well, than I'm off to find a good picture... Can't leave it as the sole mecha in the thread without a picture. ^_^

Sigh.

Few things are as ultimatively destructive as any of the imperial titans - even if it's the smallest model (at least I think it's a Warhound....)

The Big'Unz (Emperor-class Titans) .... good-bye anything. Enough firepower to eradicate cities, shields strong enough to withstand anything short of another of its kind....

AND THEIR UPPER TORSO IS A BIG-ASS CASTLE.

Yes, you read right. Biped mecha with a giant castle for a torso. A super-fortified and equally heavy armed castle.

Seriously, though, Emperor class Titans are broken in terms of power. (but this is made up by the fact that they're so freakishly rare that few ever get to see one.)

Mine would have to be the Gouf from "Mobile Suit Gundam: 8th MS Team".... or it might just be that the guy piloting it was an Ace and made even the shows star look like an noob. :hail:

But either way, its officially my MS of choice.

Some History :yay:

Intended to be a replacement for the aging MS-06J Zaku II, the ground combat MS-07B Gouf proved effective in close combat, but was limited by its lack of long-range weapons. Production of the Gouf was soon halted when the Zimmad Company produced the popular ground-skimming MS-09 Dom. However, some pilots preferred the Gouf, and limited development of that model continued at Side 3. A flight-capable Gouf was finally perfected in the form of the MS-07H8, and parts from that model were used to produce a high-performance upgrade of the standard ground model. This high-performance upgrade was called the MS-07B-3 Gouf Custom, which had the same capabilities as its MS-07B predecessor but enabled it to be more effective in long-range combat. The original 5-fingered machine gun left hand was replaced by a normal manipulator hand, and instead a 3-barrel 35mm machine gun could be mounted on the left forearm. The original thick tentacle heat rod, somewhat limited in length, was replaced with a magnetic grappler mounted on a thin cable, allowing the right forearm to store a much greater length of heat wire and giving the weapon a much greater reach. Another major improvement was the option of a 75mm Gatling gun on its shield, which could be ejected at a moment's notice when the heavy weapon ran out of ammo or became a burden in close combat. The Gouf Custom proved to be an excellent unit, with one of these rare mobile suits operated by Colonel Norris Packard out of Zeon's Southeast Asian research base. Two units were also used by the Midnight Fenrir team at the assault on Jaburo and later at the defense of the California Base.

Maybe it's the nostalgia, maybe it's the different weapons and how (to a child) they are so 'cleverly' made (or named, the spanish dub was quite enjoyed by me) or maybe it's just the fact that the hero gets a neat little airship that flies into the mech's head to activate it .. but here's mine.

Cannot forget the flying apparatus. This thing was like Superman, the robot mech version. It had eye beams, hurricane breath, it could fly (with the gilder? flying apparatus, Damn if I remember the real name) could shoot his fists at things, and his chest had heat beams that could melt just about anything.

Hey thanks GH. See, if I wasn't a moron I would've noticed it cuz it's in the pic I put up.

Gilder, or jilder, or something like that, is vaguely what I remember it was called in spanish. but yeah, Mazinger is the .. erhm. Cool. and I only know of one place where it's on DVD, and I Mean the original, not the new Mazinkaizer stuff, or whatever. sundevildvd is the one place, $88 for the season. I wonder if anybody else knows a place to find it for a better price (other than on eBay, where i'll have to look again, been a while since I researched that.)

Agreement. Imperial Titans are just... insane. No other way to put it.

How can you like the Wing Zero Custom? The regular Wing Zero is far superior in both looks and firepower. Also with those stupid feathered wings on the custom it can't transform into flight mode. The only advantage it has is it can enter the atmosphere and I'm not sure if the original Wing Zero couldn't do that anyways.

The only thing I can think of that might explain the angel wings, is that they 1) act as shielding from Beam weaponry, or 2) allow finely controlled bursts from feather-mounted thrusters.

This is the official explanation. (warning it is from wiki so it might not be completely correct)
In the Ground Zero manga, the difference between the anime Wing Zero and the OVA Wing Zero are explained as Heero wanting to (and succeding in) reconstructing the design of the Wing Zero based on an idea he wanted to see through. Duo compares this to "customizing a sports car". The plan to send the Gundams into the sun was revealed late in the manga.
But in reality they just wanted to make so the Wing Zero looked more angelic. Just like they made the Deathsythe Hell more demonic and the Altron more dragonic.

Just say NO to Wing-Dings on giant robots! And FEATHERS ON A ROBOT ARE HERESY! They failed in GWing, it failed in RahXephlol, it fails everywhere else. Strike-Freedom of GSDestiny at least has the kick-ass mind-controlled beam thingies as an excuse (since they're mounted on those pseudowings)

edit: just finished watching Gundam SEED. Cagalli is Teh Awesome.

She pilots a GIANT - PINK - ROBOT and looks good while doing so. How much more kick-ass can you get?

Sadly, when she uses it in Destiny it turns her into an emo.

Then she uses the Akatsuki, the Gold Giant Robot (confers a high degree of badassness anyway, (see the Knight of Gold)) and turns into a politican. Shudder.

eh, most characters in gs/gsd have all rights in the world to be emo, what with the series being a chain of one tragedy after another.

that said, Lacus in her Three Ships Alliance (late-stage GS) outfit looks awesome. She makes pink hair look good, unlike Sakura of Naruto infamy.

And, drakensis.... uhm, what's so bad about Cagalli turning into a "politican"? Someone has to do the job, and, to be honest, Lil' Miss I-Call-The-Best-MS-Pilot-Of-My-Timeline-"My-Little-Brother" looks good in the Representative outfit :> (that said, why is the Akatsuki not painted red/black. Gold is not something I associate with Akatsuki, because even the "Dawn" meaning of the word has little to do with gold and more with shades of red x.x)

The Akatsuki may be a Mobile Suite that was intended as a golden symbol of hope or some such. It could also be that the anti beam coating just turns it that color.

Actually, the real reason why they painted it gold was because the Akatsuki was a homage by the creators to the MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki a.k.a. Delta Gundam (though no one I know actually calls it Delta Gundam)

The gold colored coating for Hyaku Shiki was resistant to beam weaponary (The creators weren't really that creative were they...when turned that into Akatsuki's "deflect beam weaponary"? )

The passing of the Akatsuki to Mwu was also a bigger homage since the Hyaku Shiki was piloted by Char Aznable... the original masked badass. B)

SEED parallels the original Gundam Series extremely ("THIS IS NO ZAKU! NO ZAKU!".... I so cracked up at that :D) at times. But, with all respect to Char Aznable (one of the three coolest giant robot pilots ever), Mu La Flaga wins in all aspects because he's .... well, he's Mu. The guy who made the otherwise quite tragic GS series so much fun
And Mu is perhaps the singlemost awesome survivor, ever. How many other pilots can boast having survived 50 episodes (or rather, ~35) in a sub-par flying machine against Gundam-class giant robots?

That, and his ladyfriend is hotter than those of Kira/Athrun/everyone else in the entire damn series. Ramius makes uniforms look good.

Out of interest, if Char (and presumably Mu) is among your three coolest giant robot pilots ever, who are the rest?
