@ragnarok i always believed that getting his arms sealed took away his ability to use handseals to mold chakra so even if he switched bodies, the damage wouldn't be repaired because his arms are still lacking their 'soul'
Pretty much .

Suigetsu even notes the only reason Sasuke could beat him is because Orochimaru couldn't use hand seals.

It's only after the Death God Mask thing, that he regains use of his arms.

the oint of the change wasn't so much because he couldn't mould handseals, but that the body he was at when they got sealed was rotting, as far as we were able to see arms-first.

I think it may be time to abandon searching for Naruto pictures. It's getting harder and harder to find anything worth posting, and in doing so I keep finding things out I'd rather not have known.

(Seriously, who the hell thought retconning Naruto's crush into a part of his rivalry was a good idea!?)

To be fair, that was the reason why Sakura was created in the first place -- Naruto needed a rival, and they needed a girl to rival over. So it's not a retcon; it's a story element that seemed to have been forgotten about, like Inner-Sakura.

And Kishi didn't think that the appointment of Kagehood would've been a more obvious means for a rivalry?

Well the rivalry, Sasuke, and Sakura were all added at the same time so it makes sense for them to be linked. I don't really like the fact/revelation that Mr. Kishimoto never really grew beyond that for her or how she was supposed to relate with Naruto, I tihnk it cheapens both of their characters that the only reason Naruto cared about her was the Rivalry with Sasuke. It does add a LOT of fire/fuel to the whole Naru/Sasu thing.

Maybe it does cheapen them, but at the time, he was young, angry, and wanted to be like Sasuke. Logic isn't exactly strong in those times, especially for Naruto. And given Naruto's perchance to seemingly forget stuff at the wrong time, the reason he was chasing Sakura probably fell victim to his forgetfulness -- remember in the beginning, Naruto couldn't have told you why he liked Sakura, not until after he posed as Sasuke in order to find out what she thought about him. And for the life of me, I didn't understand what he saw, because from my perspective, he likes her because she's willing to do anything to get Sasuke's attention, which isn't a good position to be in, liking someone because she's hot in the pants for someone else and won't stop till she gets her man. Not unless you like being cuckold/NTR'd.

True. Young Naruto was pretty scatterbrained and your train of thought makes a great deal of sense. I thought myself that the reason he liked Sakura was that he saw similarities between them, the whole acknowledgement thing, i.e. the reasons behind the obsession rather than the obsession itself, but you nicely articulated the fridge logic there.

I dislike the implication that the Rivalry with Sasuke was that dominant in his life even that early, especially as most of the interaction we get on the pre-team stuff reeks of retcon. I dunno, this whole revelation just leaves a bad taste in my forebrain, to mix a metaphor and mangle it horribly.

Except, to me at least, it always seemed more like knew why he liked her, just not how to put it into words. Naruto's not a very articulate character to begin with, just how many twelve year olds do you know who could write an essay on why they like a particular person? Quite a few people who fall in love, don't really know what it is about a specific person they like.

Incidentally, can someone explain why "The Last" not giving refunds is a big deal? To my knowledge movies don't give refunds anyway.

I would've so gotten behind this just for the sheer hilarity of Naruto having an aggressive stalker.

Didn't Menma have one of those?

I still haven't seen that movie yet, so I wouldn't know.

Long story short, no Menma with crazy hot chick. Movie was a waste aside from some family feels on Naruto side.

Oh and Sakura was Grade-A B$%ch in it.
