<a href='http://www.guildwars2.com/en/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>Guild Wars 2 site from Arenanet</a>

With the first beta weekend this Friday, and others to follow, figured it was about time to start a general thread for it.

Current things of note:

Their facebook page has been releasing new concept art for every 10 new likes. some of it has been quite awesome, really love the art style they use for all their concept stuff.

The upcoming beta weekend starts this Friday, April 27th, and runs till Monday. This will be the first one with no NDA, so i'll be sure to take plenty of screenshots and impressions as I go along. If anyone else is in and wants to coordinate on server and such, let me know.

A note on Servers: If we have a bunch of TFF folks playing, note that if we want to run WvWvW together, we need to have the same home server, as that's the one you are bound to for that feature.

Gonna be on the US Deldrimor server with some other friends, I'll post character name and such once the beta starts and I can get access.

I might give it a try, something to tide me over before diablo comes out. Do i need to sign up for it? or was it like diablo 3's open beta weekend thing?

It was ether by invite (ie you signed up for it a few weeks ago), you went to pax east, or you prepurchased the game.

An open beta will happen, but not for some time.

Prepurchased and anticipating so hard.

This will make the 3rd MMO i'll be playing this summer (the other two being Tera and FFXIV.)

These 3 games coupled with White Knight Chronicles 2 and Dragon's Dogma should hopefully get me through the Ponyless Summer of Hell.

I'm kinda scared to preorder TERA because of the pending case against it. It would suck if i bought it and then it got shutdown.

I'm just embarrassed to play that game. Holy crap is the fanservice extreme in Terra, every boy is a pretty boy, and every female is a scantly clad sex bomb.

Combat is quite fun though.

Just one more day....so cannot wait. Going to be a long day at work Friday, I think.

Still waiting for Blade and Soul... I don't have much time to game, so if I play an MMO, I want it to be worth it. It's a toss up between GW2 and Blade and Soul right now.

GW2 certainly looks interesting though.

What pending case? You mean the one that bluehole won almost a week ago or something?

In, rolled up two so far, a human Ele named Gravia Amberley, and a Norn warrior Nastasha Amberley.

Really loving this quest system, it's quite refreshing.

Ok, so far, i'm really liking this:

Graphics: pretty good, then I realized everything was defaulted to medium. cranking that up really made the game shine. all around, looks very nice.

Combat: a little bit of wow, a little bit of age of conan. no trinity is strange, but it works. There is no kill stealing, or loot ninjaing, which means your free to help anyone in need, and you'll both get xp. Reviving downed players is pretty much critical, even when both of you are soloing.

Sound: stellar. game rocks in surround sound. Music is nice as well.

Quests: thank god, someone finally made something different. The game doesn't use the wow model, instead, everything is an event. Get close to a quest area, and it will tell you what you'll need to do to help this or that person. Often, there are 3-4 different things you can do to complete each event. Larger events have chains, and sometimes, quests have other events in them that spark impromptu player cooperation. raids, etc. It's quite well done.

Skills: interesting. Everything is tied to your weapon, except for utility skills that you unlock, and your heals. you unlock those with skill points as you go along.

Up on the Deldrimor sever as Kristoph the Mighty on my Charr engineer, pretty much fully agree on all points with Antimatter, game even plays surprisingly well on my satellite connection, went into town for local WiFi to start.

Finally managed to play and wow, this is much more fun then I anticipated.

Went for Elementalist, dual-wielding daggers like a boss. RIDE ZE LIGHTNING!

If only I could use swords, then I would be running around like a annoying french tea drinker.

Having fun with the elementalist class myself, but it takes forever to level up your abilities, seeing as you have to do it four times, once for each aspect. Rolling a sep dagger build right now. Working on making a staff.

Goddamn, I'm so happy that I got a new laptop recently, everything maxed and no slowdowns.
Some areas are just eyeporn.
