Here's a challenger for some of the rabid fanfic readers... several years ago I read a fic that I used to like but haven't been able to find since... It has alot of fanfiction cliches, but it was enjoyable (at least it was then...) It had:
harry getting sent back in time/to another universe by a neville potion disaster... reliving his life as a prodigy up to seventh year
metallic dragon familiar
returning to original world
remaking dragon
trying to go back
overall super!harry...

Anyone remember what it was...?

I believe I've read the one about Harry, Daphne and the unicorn but cannot remember the name. Are Harry and Daphne motivated learners in this one, where it looks as if they will become very powerful later on? If not then its not the same one, obviously, but that is a fic I'm trying to locate now.

A Harry Potter/Ghost Hunt cross where Harry takes the place of Kazuya where he had some sort of seal put on him that turned his magic inward and it physically changed him.

I'm trying to find a HG Fic. All I remember is Ginny turning down a Date proposal from Harry as some form of revenge for him ignoring her for years, and he doesn't understand why she would want to hurt him like that...

Have you read any books by David Edding's? Jeconais' writing reminds me of David Eddings.

Everyone is a cynic with a snappy one-liner, the good guys and the bad guys are clearly defined, all the character's are the same people but with different names, and they manage to say the most cliched over the top shit that you couldn't even think of saying IRL without cringing..

And like David Edding's you can't help but consider it a decent read.

Sirius and Remus flee with an infant Harry to raise him againts Dumbledores wishes. He gets the IWC to order an international arrest for them, and when they finally catch them there is a fight where everyone but Harry dies. (i think there was a Japanese witch too, who i think married Sirius).

I'll disagree with yer analysis on Eddings Characters (Because in his books there are usually many distinct characters, just the cast whittles itself down to the fewer characters we actually care about), but the rest of it is sound on him.

But I don't see Jeconais at ALL like Eddings.


Jeconais' problem is that there is zero dramatic tension. Harry is Super. Every single character except for the villains know this. Every single character will at one point in the story say, "I suddenly believe that our side is going to win, because we have Harry Potter on it, and Harry Potter doesn't lose. Ever."

They're enjoyable waffy reads, but if you want a story to grip you to your seat, you'll read something else, something WITH dramatic tension.

Like Eddings : ).

I'm trying to find a fic where Harry is tricked into playing a game. He's on an wizard resort island and they want him to fly up as high as he can and then jump off. The trick of the game is to apparate before you hit. Harry agrees without knowing the rules. I think the game was called "Jack".
That's about all I can remember.

This story's been silent for a bit now, with no word from the author for some time now as far as I know. However, there are a couple more chapters up on their yahoo group that I haven't been able to read yet because there's no one to approve joining it. I've been waiting for quite some time now.

Say, thinking of, I was wondering if anyone knows what happened to an old Ranma-HP crossover I remember reading a while ago: Nodoka was Lucius's sister and took Ranma, Kasumi, Nabiki, and some of the Fiances to the UK after Happosai crosses the Moral Event Horizon.

I remember vaguely that Nodoka and Cologne were working against Dumbledore, and that Kasumi had a locked Jusenkyo Curse that made her a horse.

Ringing anyone's bells?

After seeing the IMO train wreck in the Recommendation thread I'm reminded of a older HarryxDC cross but I can't remember where it is or its name.

The premise is that Harry is left in Gotham after the Dursleys fail to get a drill deal with Bruce Wayne. Harry eventually stumbles onto Ivy's hideout, and while she is away he takes care of the plants. When Ivy gets back she takes him in and makes him her unofficial sidekick.

So any help?
