Miscellaneous ideas topic.
This was inspired by one of the shorts in <a href='http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2565609/35/Odd_Ideas]Odd Ideas[/url].
This is an AU, with a concept that I don't believe has been done before: a loyal!Marauder!Peter.
Things proceed as normal up until the confrontation with Sirius in the Streaking Shack during year 3.
When Peter is revealed, he is not a whimpering coward. Instead, he is resigned, and looks at Sirius and Remus with defiant resignation.
"Well, then, old friend, get it over with. I deserve it."
Background - Peter was the secret keeper, but he did not go over to the Dark, or give up his secret willingly. Instead, the death eaters captured him, intending to use him to find out who the secret keeper actually was. After several hours of torture, both Cruciatus and a bit of muggle as well, he still has not given up any information. Voldemort, growing impatient, decides to gamble - he puts Peter under Imperious, and then forces him to drink Vertiserum before releasing the Imperious. (Normally this has a fairly good chance of reducing the victim to a vegetable, as well as destroying any information that the mind once held, but he's willing to take that risk.)
To Voldemort's delight, not only did the gamble pay off, but he has his hands on not just a lead to the secret keeper, but the keeper himself, and after getting that information, he heads off to kill the Potters. Canon happens, and in the confusion that the Dark Lord's vanquishing inspires, Peter escapes - only to run directly into Sirius, who screams incoherantly at Peter, and before he can do anything, Sirius fires a rather nasty curse at Peter. Peter manages to block it, just barely, but it causes a spark. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but just below the street, there is a freshly broken gas main, which is ignited. The explosion tears loose Peter's little finger, just as Peter is shifting to rat form. This final shock is too much for Peter, and he looses conciousness in rat form.
Sirius, at this point, pulls his Canon incoherent laughter bit, and is taken away by the Aurors. Peter is found as they are searching the scene, and as he does have a minimal magical signature, he is taken by the department for the Regulation of Magical Creatures. He wakes up there, in a cage far to small for him to escape. There, he overhears two Ministry officials gossiping about "that crazy Dark Wizard, Sirius Black," who has killed poor Peter Pettegrew, and how he was being sent to Azakaban.
Peter then assumes that they are assuming that Black will be found guilty at his trial. (Of course, as per canon, there was no trial - they are talking about his actually transfer.) Once he manages to get loose he realizes his mistake, but by then, it's too late, and Sirius has been sent to Azakaban. Given that he is already dead, Peter doesn't have too many options at this point, and decides that his best bet is to try to see that Sirius is given a trial, and live as a rat until that point. Then appear at the trial, to back Sirius' story. Of course, the little fact that living as a rat would allow him to serve penance for giving up his one of his best friends to the dark lord to be killed doesn't hurt either.
Of course, no one wants to hear of giving Black a trial, so the status quo remains until the beginning year 3.

Any plot holes that I've missed? Not sure if I want to write this or not - but if someone else does, go right ahead.
Edited, because I<s>'m an idiot</s> forgot to check the spelling of a name. ><;
