I dunno why but what if Xander looped Halloween...but he possessed whatever his YAHF!self went as.

Say Van Helsing is what reg!xander went as, Looping Xander wakes up to find he IS Van Helsing at least for the loop (short one obviously)

i dunno just an idea
It would seem that that would make Xander go through a ton of fused loops.... and can't loopers retain the powers they gain in fused loops? seems like an easy way for Xander to become much more overpowered....

I'm planning on this, I just want to go through as many non fused loops as I can before that. The Naruto, Ranma, and Bleach loops stood on their own well enough before the crossovers came in, and I'm trying to give these loops the same feel.

I do plan on using Halloween, but sparingly because when I write it the resulting fused loop will never be in Xanders favor. IE he dresses up as Ranma, he gets the skills and memories of the cannon Ranma for one night, but after the loop ends he finds himself as Alexandra Tendo, replacing one of the Tendo daughters.

However that's what I plan to do. If any of you have other ideas please post them. I like writing all this, but I'd also like to read some Hellmouth Looping as well. ;)

A story like that already exists. It can be found at Twisting the Helmouth

Meh, Halloween changes have been done to Death without looping to instigate it (pun intended)... pretty amusing though.
Three stories on TTH where Xander dressed as Phil. Story was ridiculously long as hell. It spawned two sequels. I'm sorry, but I'd like someone else to be the anchor. At this point, I really can't stand any more Xander looping.

Outch, that hurts.

I can understand though, after reading a long story like that it woulnd't be too fun to see even more of it. I've read the story and it's one of the reasons I've stayed away from Halloween Loops.

If you want to write one with Buffy or so being the Anchor go ahead. For me personaly I'll still use Xander because he's the one I enjoy writing the most.

Though if any others want to write Xander as well please do because my muse could use some :help:

Pretty sure the story is Xander-Hog Day. Due to the size, its split up into three stories, with many chapters each. Here's Part II, and Part III.

It doesn't help that Tohonomike isn't that outstanding an author - or, certainly, he wasn't that good when he started Xander-hog day. I don't know if he's improved much in the intervening years, but I do know that story was one of the most boring I'd read at the XanderZone.

There are far worse stories out there, but they weren't interesting enough for me to remember them.

OTOH, boring is a matter of taste, apparently, as I enjoyed it, even if it wasn't all that fast-paced.

ehhh the first... quarter of so of Xander-hog day wasn't bad. a bit to slow in development perhaps but not bad. it's when he started wakeing everyone up (Dawnie is kinda understandable as she is both the Key as well as a 'retconed' element) and causeing the multiverse crisis. but well Xander-hog Day is a prime example of Mike's failing, he comes up with an interesting idea and he'll even carry it well for a short time... and then it all goes to hell.

That guy... annoys me.

I see a summary that intrigues me, then, of course the actual fic is executed so poorly, I'm left rather... annoyed.

Now, I tend to get rather... disappointed. Because I'll see the summary, then note the author and give a quiet sigh before moving right past it.

Merph *goes back to work on finishing up another fic*

the chimera-like creature sounds familiar, there wasn't a character in type-moon's tsukihime who's reality marble was something like that?

I have no idea, I've never heard of what you were talking about. When I thought of the chimara I was thinking of the old cartoon Bravestar and how it could go horably wrong with the creatures fusing together.

Nrvnqsr Chaos
Dead Apostle Ancestor No. 10

A living mass of chaotic matter analogous to a primordial soup, created from the accumulation of the lives of 666 creatures. His name, phonetically spelled "Nero", was given to him by the Church as a play on words in Gematria by which the letters that compose it add up to 666, the so-called Number of the Beast.
Originally an alchemist named Fabro Rowan from the Sea of Estray, a cluster of smaller sorcerer organizations on northern Europe. His attempt to attain immortality led him to develop a method by which to absorb and merge his existence with the lives of other creatures, leading to his transformation into the form of Chaos. He eventually became a sole accumulation of lives with a collective consciousness, aligned with his will yet not entirely under his control and of nature beyond his own understanding. Even as he was conscious that his mind was fading by being united to the beasts, his ultimate desire was to come to understand the chaos that formed him. The beasts that compose him range from mundane animals like dogs, to giant creatures such as elephants and even mystic beasts like a unicorn. The animals within him arenÆt merely controlled by him, but are in fact an extension of his own self. The entire collective is only one being which is capable of manifesting into the form of any of the six hundred and sixty six beasts if necessary and act separately from the collective, though always mentally and spiritually united as one. Nrvnqsr is not entirely capable of controlling the chaos, as such even if he forces the mass to take the form of beasts, he is incapable of deciding which form should they take, and the body may even act without his prompt to defend himself from external attacks. When destroyed, the beasts return to the chaos and are regenerated, making him virtually immortal unless all 666 lives are obliterated at once before they have the chance to revive.

The nature of his being is owed to his Reality Marble, the Lair of the Beast King, which allowed him to merge with the beasts and transform his body into its present state. Because it is only being deployed within his own body and never superimposes over the external space, it is capable of avoiding the corrective impulse by the world and can be sustained almost indefinitely as long as he possesses enough energy. Whether Nrvnqsr himself was ever a normal vampire or became Chaos when he was still human is unknown, but he displays similar feeding habits as he constantly needs to consume living matter in order to absorb the energy required both for the sustaining of the Reality Marble and the regeneration of the destroyed parts. Unlike vampires, he and his beasts consume the entirety of their preysÆ bodies, not just their blood.

He was also taught an ancient technique by Roa which allowed him to manipulate 500 lives of chaotic matter into an imprisoning mass named Soil of Genesis, which would require the same firepower needed to obliterate an entire continent in order to destroy it. In addition, Nrvnqsr can condense all the chaos into one ultimate form, the 999th Beast, the ultimate expression of the chaosÆ strength.

Anchors are chosen for their mental stability. Anchors are also usually the cornerstones of their universe. Xander being chosen as an Anchor was an accident. It was a difficult thing for Xander to acknowledge, but the universe was centered around Buffy, not Xander. This arguably made him the most unstable Anchor around.

"I'd like to check out these books, please. "Xander piled the books of Dark Arts for Beginners, The Necronomicon, and the Book of Eibon. Giles paled. "Those are actually restricted books and not allowed to be checked out. "
"Then why'd you put them in the high school library stack?"
***
"Don't be ridiculous Giles. " Xander stated, exasperated. " Magic doesn't kill people. I kill people. "
***
"Hi. I'd like to pay a million dollars to hire the Order of Teraka to kill Angelus. " Xander smiled.
***
"The perfect defense against hypnotic eyes!"Xander declaimed grandly. He reached in and produced a pair of sunglasses.

Hmm . . . Xander's probably the most mentally stable Scooby, bar Oz or Cordy - but he's also there from start to finish.

Which makes him a pretty strong contender for an anchor, despite his non-main status.

Who said the anchor had to be the person the director chose as the star of the show?

I agree with Xander not getting super power-up immediately.....

But He has already had a Hogwarts loop and that means he gets to know about the other loopers.....

**********

Well, it was Halloween again and this time, Xander was prepared. It had taken a Hogwarts loop to give him the idea, more importantly, it had allowed his, what others thought, diseased imagination to flourish.

"Right, test case number 1" Xander was surprisingly upbeat. Even if the effort failed, even if he didnt retain a single ability gained from the Halloween spell, at the very least he might retain some memories. Memories meant further ideas. Further ideas meant better ad more amusing ways to kill demons.

"Ok, todays costume" He turned to a smiling Ethan Rayne "Good day my fine fellow, A good friend my mine, one Rubert Giles recommended this store to me. I was hoping you might be able to put together a custom costume?"

Ethan blinked before an oily smile slid across his face. "Oh really? And how is old Ripper?"

Xander's smirk grew. "Not too bad, Especially now that he has removed that rather nasty tatoo of his."

Ethan blinked in shock "He has?"

"Oh yes, he's a teacher now, respectable. Wouldnt do to have a is past come back to haunt him.... but my costume. I'm looking for a red silk, chinese style shirt with wooden toggles, Black silk kung-fu style pants and a hair extension to match my own hair, in a pigtail. Can you help?"

Ethan took a moment to compose himself.

"Yes. Yes I can."

"Excellent, very well Bladders, take care of it." His own British accent was spot on in comparison to a certain Fop from television. Xander had truely come to love that series.

Ethan's own chuckle was answer enough. "Might I ask what the costume is?"

Xander looked faintly embaressed. "It's a Japanese comic book character. I lost a bet and well, you know how it is. One must follow through. The fellow is a single minded sort of fellow, not bad at martial arts, but regularly has his butt kicked and swears that he will beat the person next time. Unlucky, has lots of violent women chasing after him and worst of all, is cursed. But I wont be dressing as the cursed form, just the base."

Xander knew he had Ethan's interest now.

"Yes, I do believe I can have something like that ready for you, shall we say, 2 hours"

Xander nodded and handed over a twenty. "See you then Mr Man!"

*******

The familiar wash of magic swept over Ranma Saotome, leaving in his place, Xander Harris, who, after a moment, looked rather eager, before smoothing his face out into neutrality. He would test everything later. For now, he had to keep his cover.

*******

It was a slightly bemused Xander Harris who made his way into the Sunnydale Highschool Library the next morning. "G-Man! Just the person I want to see."

SIghing and polishing his glasses, Rupert Giles could only dream of the day when he is treated with the respect he is due. "Must you use that infernal moniker Xander"

"Yup, but thats an issue for another day. Halloween and funky costumes, what sort of side effects should we be expecting?"

Buffy, who had been doing some stretches off to the side piped up "I am going to ace my next French test" She seemed rather happy about that. "Aside frm that, the entire night is blank to me"

Xander nodded. "Ok, so, the fact that I now know at least eight different martial arts and a handful of weapons styles shouldnt be a concern?"

Giles blinked in shock. "Really? Has your physiology or musculature changed at all? Or are the effects purely mental?"

"huh? The chorus of confusion from the pair had him sighing in despair for the Amaerican education system. "I mean, did your body change at all"

Shaking his head, Xander managed to look a bit unhappy. "Nope, I mean, what's the point of being able to remember how to do a Imperial Grand Dragon Reverse Meteor Kick, if I cant do the splits while in the air?"

Oh yes, his body was unchanged, but that wasnt what he was hoping for. He had realised that the body resets each loop. It was the Mind and Spirit that grew. Sure, his Chi reserves were pitiful. Really pitiful. Even Kasumi would be able to utterly destroy him as he was. Possibly anyone from Ranma's world would, that would grow. No, the real treasure, the reward he was after was his. He had the basic ideas for Training techniques, fighting styles he could force himself to learn, pressure points and most of all, a nigh on unmatched, outside of Gods, knowledge of the Female body and how to sexually manipulate it.

"Oh well" He shrugged. "Guess it's back to fetching the Donuts for me."

Oh yes, he would learn, he would grow in power, he would show all of the loopers, that while Ranma was the best fighter, Harry was the best at Magic, that Ichigo was the best with the Death stuff, He would develop his own reputation. Sure, being a Jack of all Trades meant he wouldnt be a master of everything any time soon. He would however, be the one that every girl who looped would be the one that they compare all their sexual encounters to, and find them lacking.

It was good to have a dream.

****************

Yeah, No super powerups for Xander, and when he finds out about the Senshi and Sakura and the rest, he will be so very far in over his head, but thats what he does.

Cheers

Not a big Ranma fan, like, at all. But it fits with the 90's timeframe and it was fun, so I got over it. Although I suspect Ranma will be most unimpressed, the next time they have a mixed loop together.

Xander taking into account physical resets and future horn-dog opportunities was a great angle, too.

very, very amuseing Finbar. only real complaint though is that here at s2, the donut fetcher of the group is Buffy most of the time. she's real good at hitting things but the bulk of the research is Giles, Wills and Xan's work.
