Keitaro has *that* disease which held up his physical aging, leaving him *mentally* his correct age but with the body of a 12-16 yr old
Hmmm...

This highlights one of the few issues I have with this reasoning people have with the Please/Onegai Universe.

Kei's desease, taken as in canon, would freeze body development, true, but I always felt one would not be able to develop mentally either without people interaction. At a minimum, you cannot learn what has not been taught to you, you cannot understand the complexities of human relations without the critical years a teenager has. There is IMO a very critical difference in outlook and reasoning between that of a 15-16 year old and a 18-19 year old.

I cannot understand how if Keitaro had this desease, he would be able to continue in to Todai, he would lack for critical knowledge in too many areas to simply make it up in determination. He should not be aiming for Todai, but instead in class with perhaps Motoko or Shinobu.

Unless you were implying that he would have still been active during the physical freeze, in which case it is not like the Please/Onegai Universe one at all.

On an odd tangent from this. I've seen plenty of stories dealing with Keitaro's supposed invulnerability. What if this also kept him young, I've never seen a story take that approach and him years later watching everyone in their twilight years.

He wouldn't be anywhere close to testing for Todai, but he'd still be struggling to study to get in. He'd be in the same class with Motoko or Shinobu, but the end goal would still be the same.

As for the mental issues, it's precisely because of his freezes that he'd have to mature, because he'd never know when he might go back into stasis. Confronting that kind of serious issue at an early age with such limited time tends to make even kids more mature then you'd expect.

Here's a little more of that last idea thingy I posted.

@@@@@

ôIt seems that some of the residents decided that he should go as soon as possible. Though, that was after causing him sufficient harm to injure his brain and send him to the hospital,ö the smoker added angrily. She stubbed out her cigarette. ôAs you can imagine, IÆm not too happy about that.ö

ô¼No, I can see why. I think that itÆs time for me to visit my sister. I would like to have words with her about her treatment of non-martial artists,¼ö Tsuruko said with no hint of anger in her voice. ô¼I shall be there tomorrow morning, Urashima-san.¼ö

@@@@@

It was 9.37 am when Tsuruko Aoyama arrived at the Hinata Teashop. The raven haired swordswoman sat at the counter and waited for service.

ôIs there anything I can get you?ö a young man asked with smile.

ôI would like some tea and I would like to speak with a Haruka Urashima, do you know where I can find her?ö

ôYes, I do, please bear with me one moment, IÆll go get her. Who shall I say wants to speak with her?ö

ôTsuruko Aoyama,ö the visitor said with a small, polite smile.

ôAh, there you are, IÆm Haruka Urashima,ö a smoking woman introduced herself. ôThank you for coming all this way on such short notice.ö

ôWhen it concerns the actions of one of my clan, then I make time,ö Tsuruko replied in a serious tone. ôDo you have any evidence that Motoko was involved in this mess?ö

ôI saw her strike him with my own eyes. Though I will admit that it wasnÆt unwarranted,ö Haruka added hastily. ôKeitaro has a habit of getting himself into awkward situations. And that generally means him falling on top of women or walking in on them while theyÆre changing.ö

ôHmm, well, IÆm sure that Motoko-chan has her reasons for acting in that fashion. I shall make some enquiries to determine her role in this æconspiracyÆ.ö

ôMaybe,ö the smoker replied.

ôPlease describe the situation for me, Urashima-san. I want to know as much about this as I can. IÆd rather not act in too hasty a manner and cause distress to an innocent party,ö said the swordswoman.

@@@@@

The doorbell at the Hinata Sou rang out, causing Motoko to grumble slightly at the interruption to her training.

Opening the door, the young kendoist blinked than panicked slightly. ôAneue! What are you doing here?ö

ôIÆm here to find out how my sister is doing, what with her staying so far from home and all,ö Tsuruko explained with a smile that sent a shiver down MotokoÆs spine.

ôIàIÆm doing well, Aneue. Why donÆt you come in and I can show you around?ö

ôYes, IÆd like to see what sort of accommodation keeps my sister here and not with her clan in Kyoto,ö the elder Aoyama said as she stepped inside and changed out of her shoes.

ôLooks like it could do with a new coat of paint her and there,ö Tsuruko mused as she was given the tour of the inn. ôDoesnÆt the landlord deal with the maintenance? Is he shirking his duties?ö

ôNo, weÆre between landlords at the moment,ö Naru answered walking up to the pair.

ôNaru, this is my sister, Tsuruko. Tsuruko, this is Naru Narusegawa, sheÆs studying to get into Tokyo University,ö Motoko introduced the pair.

The senior kendoist bowed politely. ôI see, what happened to the last one? Did something unfortunate happen to him?ö

ôNo, he just left the other day,ö the bespectacled girl replied evasively.

æShe knows more than sheÆs letting on,Æ Tsuruko noted. ôMost oddà Oh well, who knows what personal problems may have come up. Shall we continue the tour, Motoko-chan?ö

ôYes, Aneue. This way leads to the womenÆs bathing area.ö

ôWhy is that fence damaged like that? It looks like someone was thrown through it,ö the married woman said with a frown.

ôàö the Hinata SouÆs resident kendoist was struggling to come up with a plausible excuse.

ôIs the inn used as a movie set? That must be disrupting your studies, Motoko-chan.ö

ôWe manage.ö

Tsuruko turned to her sister and transfixed her with a look that promised much anguish should she not get the whole truth about the situation. ôWhat happened to your landlord, Motoko?ö

ôàö

ôI want the truth or youÆre coming back to Kyoto with me.ö

ôWhat do you mean, Aneue?ö Motoko asked nervously.

Her sister was not in the mood for games. ôIÆm talking about the previous landlord, Keitaro Urashima. I heard from someone, someone whom I have no reason to doubt, that he was hospitalised shortly after being forced to leave here. Is that the case, or are you calling Haruka Urashima a liar?ö

ôWe didnÆt want a man here! He was always peeping on us and trying to molest poor Shinobu-chan!ö the younger Aoyama blurted out.

ôI see. So you didnÆt call the authorities, you just decided to dispense summary æjusticeÆ? Did anyone defend him or did you do away with anything resembling a trial because it would be inconvenient?ö Tsuruko asked as she advanced on her sister.

Motoko squirmed as she tried to word an answer that would satisfy the clearly upset woman in front of her.

ôI see,ö the visiting swordswoman said with narrowed eyes. She sighed sadly. ôAnd that is why you fail.ö

ôF-f-f-f-f-fail?ö Motoko stammered as she sank to her knees.

ôYes. You fail to understand what it means to be Shinmeiryu. We thought that maybe you needed a change of scenery to expand your horizons, which was why we allowed you to leave Kyoto. But it seems that we wrong, Imouto-chan,ö Tsuruko said as she shook her head.

ôWrong? What have I misunderstood?ö the resident kendoist asked. ôI thought that our clanÆs role was to slay evil. You yourself said that evil takes many forms. And what do you call perversion?!ö

ôWhat would you call someone who acts in an unjust manner? You do know that your attacks on Urashima-san caused more damage to his brain, therefore increasing the likelihood of him having an accident?ö

Motoko was surprised when her sister enveloped her in a hug. ôA-aneue?ö

ôMotoko-chan, youÆre my sister and I love you dearly. If someone had done to you what you and your friends did to Urashima-san, I would skin them alive,ö Tsuruko said in a comforting tone. ôHowever restitution must be made. What would you want if you were in Urashima-sanÆs position?ö

ôI-I donÆt know,ö the younger sister answered in a quiet tone. ôI think that perhaps I should return with you to Kyoto after I apologise to Urashima-san.ö

ôAnd what of Keitaro-san?ö

ôà What do you mean, Aneue?ö

ôIÆm referring to the man you injured. Apologising to a family member is a start, but what would you want if you were in Keitaro-sanÆs place?ö the married woman asked. ôIf Keitaro injured me as much as he has been, you would demand his death, would you not?ö

ôI-I would,ö Motoko nodded. ôWould you be my Second, Aneue?ö

ôNo. IÆm told that Keitaro would not want such a thing. His goals seem to be getting into Tokyo University and marrying his æpromise girlÆ.ö

ôYes, we think that Naru-san maybe the girl he prom-!ö the Hinata SouÆs resident kendoist blanched as the realisation hit her.

ôAnd Naru is a part of your scheme, is she not?ö Tsuruko asked with an unhappy tone of voice. ôIÆm most displeased with this situation. If Keitaro-san recovers, then you and your co-conspirators will cater to his every whim until his aunt feels that amends have been made.ö

ôButàö

ôIf you do not do this, I will see to it that you and your friends all suffer the consequences together. You acted as a group so you can all deal with the outcome as a group.ö

ôBut he could force us to do who knows what!ö Motoko protested.

ôMotoko-chan, the clan elders are unhappy about the use of Shinmeiryu techniques for such a dubious cause. So much so that there are voices that are suggesting that you are exiled from the clan.ö

ôYou canÆt be serious!ö Kitsune said a little too loudly from the doorway, revealing her presence.

ôAh, you must be the third member of this scheme,ö Tsuruko said with a harsh tone. ôI want to speak with all of you about that youÆve done.ö

ôYou canÆt kick Motoko-chan out for what we did!ö the ash blonde girl protested.

The elder Aoyama smiled evilly, causing her targetÆs knees to weaken in fear. ôThatÆs not all we can do. My father plays golf with some of the senior management at your publishers, Miss Konno. You should be careful, lest you find yourself blacklisted.ö

ôKonno-san, I suggest that you keep your mouth shut for the time being. Now help my sister to the lounge and get her something to drink. Urashima-san, would be so kind as to gather the other residents? We need to have a little discussion about what is going to happen next,ö Tsuruko said in a displeased tone.

@@@@@

ôSo then,ö Tsuruko said as she set her teacup back on the table, ôit was Motoko, Narusegawa-san and Konno-san that instigated thisàplan.ö

ôàö the guilty parties looked down in shame.

ôLook, I know you guys didnÆt intend to hospitalise Keitaro,ö Haruka added after a drag on a cigarette. ôBut the fact is you did when you got rid of him. All because you didnÆt want a man around here. Well, IÆm not happy about it. The question becomes, what are you going to do?ö

ôIà suppose we could let him come back,ö Naru offered weakly.

ôSo he can be used as cheap labour again?ö the elder kendoist asked angrily. ôTry again. What would you want if your positions were reversed?ö

ôIÆd want to see him behind bars,ö the light brown haired girl said softly.

Haruka tapped some ash into the glass ashtray. ôThatÆs a start. So whoÆs the ringleader? We need someone to take the fall when we go to the cops.ö

ôC-cops?ö Kitsune parroted nervously. ôS-surely we donÆt need to get them involvedàö

ôOh, so our freelance writer isnÆt so eager to experience incarceration, despite it being a good chance to get material for articles? ThatÆs a shocker,ö Tsuruko said sarcastically. ôWell, I intend to take Motoko back to Kyoto with me, but as for the others, IÆll leave that in your hands, Urashima-san.ö

ôàAneue, I could offer myself as his retainer,ö Motoko said. æPlease accept, Aneue, IÆve never seen you this angry beforeàÆ

ôThat reminds me,ö the smoker smiled. It was not a pleasant expression for the guilty girls who it was directed at. ôThe doctor said that Keitaro is suffering from a lot of stress and he doesnÆt have a lot of outlets.ö

ôOh, and what did he say?ö the married Aoyama asked, already knowing the answer.

ôDr. Saotome-ö

ôNot Dr. Ranma Saotome?ö

ôErr, yes, thatÆs the one, why?ö Haruka asked.

ôIÆve heard of him, heÆs one of the best doctors in the country. Pardon my interruption,ö Tsuruko bowed.

ôWell, Dr. Saotome suggested that I find Keitaro a girlfriend. What sort of tasks would a retainer be expected to fulfil, Aoyama-san?ö KeitaroÆs aunt asked. ôI ask because we might be able to kill two birds with one stone.ö

ôAh, I see your logic,ö the senior Aoyama nodded. ôWell, itÆs not unheard of for a retainer to service their master in such a way.ö

ôWhat are you going to do?ö Shinobu asked. ôI donÆt want to see my friends hurt.ö

Haruka sighed. ôTheyÆre my friends, too, Shinobu-chan. But I canÆt allow this to go unanswered. The way I see it, thereÆs three options.ö

ôThree?ö the chef asked in confusion.

ôYes,ö Tsuruko nodded. ôOne, Narusegawa-san, Konno-san and Motoko turn themselves in to the police. Two, they pay a lump sum in damages and leave the inn, and three, they repay their debt to Urashima-san through indentured servitude.ö

ôThe problem with option one is Keitaro is unlikely to press charges,ö the teashop proprietor sighed as she reached for another cigarette. ôSo that leaves you with paying him off and leaving forever or becoming his servants.ö

ôH-how long would they have to be his servants for?ö Shinobu asked. æI could help them out if itÆs not too long.Æ

ôI think that one calendar year would be appropriate,ö Tsuruko said before reaching for her tea. ôOf course, if at any time one of the girls acquired enough money to pay off the debt at some point during the year, then she could buy her freedom.ö

ôHow much are we talking about?ö Kitsune asked with a calm faþade.

ô10 million yen,ö Haruka said. ôEach.ö

There was a loud hacking cough from the innÆs resident drunkard. ôYou canÆt expect us to come up with that kind of cash!ö

Of course it's an injustice.

It's what I do.

However, since I have today off work, I might be able to write some more.

Also: Who knows what sort of havoc I could cause with the addition of Amalla....

hmmmm... now i wonder if they'll actually take option 3 or not...

Motoko's thoughts seem to be more afraid of her sister than any possible 'lewd actions' from the now hurt ronin... even tho Tsuruko hasnt really appeared to be pissed off (maybe the lack of demon eyes and the calling on her honor as a swordswoman... then again the sarcasm :p)

Wonder if Naru will respond kindly... but it's not like she has a choice.

The younger girls seem pretty much off the hook, tho I feel Kaolla might try to be nicer (and hope the red moon comes soon), not to mention Shinobu's possible guilty feelings.

interesting route youre taking this injustice :snigger:

ôHow much are we talking about?ö Kitsune asked with a calm faþade.

ô10 million yen,ö Haruka said. ôEach.ö

There was a loud hacking cough from the innÆs resident drunkard. ôYou canÆt expect us to come up with that kind of cash!ö

ôWe donÆt,ö the senior kendoist replied solemnly. ôThis is an exercise to teach you all some humility.ö

ôThis is a complete farce! IÆm not taking part in this!ö Naru declared, slamming her hands on the table. ôWho knows what that pervert KeitaroÆll make us do?!ö

Tsuruko cast an intimidating look at the firebrand. ôThen youÆre going to make monetary reparations? When will you transfer the funds?ö

ôàö

ôI thought as much. Motoko-chan, whatÆs your decision?ö

æAneue is going to make my life hell if I go back with her,Æ the younger Aoyama thought with her face in her hands. æDare I put myself at KeitaroÆs mercy or should I risk being ostracised by the clan by requesting such a large sum?Æ

Tsuruko leaned in to whisper something to her sister.

ôàI will accept my punishment as KeitaroÆs servant.ö

ôWell, thatÆs one, what about you two?ö Haruka asked Naru and Kitsune. ôWhat are you going to do?ö

ôPerhaps we can all a break, Urashima-san?ö the elder kendoist asked with a smile. ôThis is a big decision for all involved, after all.ö

æWhatÆs Tsuruko got up her sleeve?Æ ôYes, letÆs break for lunch.ö

Back at the hospital, Keitaro was talking with Dr. Saotome about his situation.

ôWell, I understand that youÆre a decent person, Keitaro, but you must know that thereÆs a difference between being a ænice guyÆ and enabling an abuser,ö the raven haired doctor explained.

ôBut IÆm not being abused, I know that Naru and Motoko hit me, but thatÆs because IÆm so clumsy and I keep accidentally touching them,ö Keitaro explained sadly.

ôAnd what if I told you that you had a neurological condition that made you clumsy?ö

ôWhat?ö

ôI think you have a mild form of dyspraxia,ö Dr. Saotome said. ôWere up any good at catching when you were a child?ö

ôI wasnÆt very good, but then, my parents didnÆt have much time to spend with me,ö the recuperating man explained. ôI just assumed that I didnÆt get enough practice.ö

ôHmm, well, the good news is that with some rest, physical therapy and stress management, we should get you right as rain.ö

ôThanks, doc, what can I do to repay you?ö Keitaro asked with an honest smile.

ôWell, there is one thing,ö the doctor said with a conspiratorial tone. He moved his chair closer. ôYour aunt, Haruka, is she seeing anyone?ö

ôNot that I know of,ö the Toudai aspirant replied. ôDo you want me to ask if sheÆs interested in going out for a few drinks?ö

ôIf you could, IÆd appreciate it.ö

Good stuff, though I don't see Keitaro pressing the girls to be 'serviced' any more than I see him going to the police and pressing charges. And threat of the law (Haruka and Tsuruko as well) doesn't strike me as something that'll keep Naru in line. Be interesting to see where this goes.

I also agree with the others, House!Ranma should pop up as often as you can in other fics, cause cameos are fun :D
