Here's a snippet based on comments made back on page 1 about the Bruce Wayne: Murderer arc.
Cassandra Cain (Who would soon be Cassandra Wayne if the many well-paid lawyers her would-be guardian kept on retainer had anything to say about it) peeled off the leather and kevlar uniform of Batgirl and donned the civilian clothing she had left in the Batcave before going out on her evening patrol. She would have been fine with staying out longer, but Night Blade had insisted that she receive a basic education, which necessitated getting a minimum amount of sleep every night so that she could focus on her studies during the day. Since Cassandra had only recently learned how to talk and was still almost completely illiterate, she hadn't really been capable of arguing the point.
As Cassandra climbed the stairs to Wayne Manor, she heard the sound of a struggle. Realizing something was amiss, she started to run. Upon reaching the surface, she looked around and saw that the clean room that she had left three hours before was now a war zone. The furniture was overturned, thrown to other parts of the room, or simply smashed to pieces. The devastation didn't stop there. It had apparently started elsewhere, gone straight through the room, and kept on going to some other point in the mansion.
Rushing to the sound of continuing battle, Cassandra found herself heading to the manor's dojo. There she found two people locked in mortal combat. The first was Tsuruko Wayne. Night Blade. Batman's wife. The other was David Cain. Her father.
Both fighters were heavily battered by the fight, but Cassandra could tell what was going on. Her father's body language clearly stated that he intended to kill. Tsuruko's was more geared to defending herself, though she was clearly thinking about finding a way to break off from the fight long enough to retrieve her sword from the wall and use it to eliminate her opponent. She had not started the fight, but she clearly intended to finish it given a chance.
If she did nothing, it was possible that someone would die. If she acted, she would have to fight against one of the most important people in her life whoever she chose. A seemingly endless moment passed, and Cassandra made her choice.
Cassandra crept towards the fight, trusting in the battle keeping her target too focused on the immediate threat to notice a hidden one. Sneaking up behind her father, she viciously punched him in the kidneys. Howling with pain, Cain dropped to his knees. Taking advantage of the opening, Tsuruko quickly overcame her foe and soon had him unconscious on the floor.
As she bound Cain's hands with her belt, Cassandra looked to Tsuruko.
"Mother. Are you... alright?"
Tsuruko smiled at her. It wasn't until much later, after the GCPD had arrived and taken Cain away, that Cassandra realized that this had been the first time that she had called Tsuruko that.
