It's my own fault because I can't figure out Central time's relation to GMT. Still have yet to get it right.

US Central? GMT -5.

Easy for me, since I'm US Pacific.

EDIT: Erk. Quick check, I was off by one.

EDIT2: Accursed internet! I was right the first time!

Mhmm. Up working on a very short oneshot for a friend, and then I'm going to bed... it's, what, 11 there to midnight?

You would have a point if only one or two people didn't make it in the four hour window. Nine-tenths of the people didn't make it in the four hour window. Waffle about "oh, but it's supposed to be hard" all you like, but you cannot argue with the numbers. There's a difference between being difficult, and being stupidly inconvenient and not worth the effort. This is currently the latter.

Lastly, the four hour time limit is supposed to be difficult to meet.
It being twenty-four hours is still difficult to meet. This is about having fun and trying to create something under given criteria within a time limit. This is not about what you personally consider to be Epic Hardcore.

Actually, from what I understand, only two people were unable to participate because of lack of time.

nairit and parker both dropped out due to technical failures. AJT still completed the challenge, using an extra half-hour, despite major scheduling conflicts.

From what I understand, you and Ray are the only ones who couldn't participate because you were involved in activities during that four hour block of time.

You are of course more than welcome to make your own, twenty-four hour challenge. I look forward to participating, and do not doubt that it will go off well. However, I think that I'll keep IRON FIC as a four hour challenge.

Actually, mind if I steal the 24 hour challenge idea? Do that in the middle of the week, like on Wednesday, and do Iron Fic over the weekend....

Of course, there's always the danger of too many options turning everyone off from the ideas.

EDIT: Sleep? What is this sleep of which you speak, Halibel? There are only videogames. Must... play... The World Ends With You...!

Unfortunately I do not have, nor can I afford, a gaming anything of any sort. The best I've got is a DVD if Advent Children.

Self-contradiction. Being a half-hour late means he did not complete the challenge.

you. . . only. . . actually, from what I understand. . . not necessary
You are splitting hairs. The bottom line is that out of nearly ten individuals, only one managed to legally submit anything. Considering the public issues several have taken with the timing, it would be prudent to change said timing.

Actually, mind if I steal the 24 hour challenge idea?
Yes, I do mind. As in, don't. You said it wasn't necessary, in spite of everything. Fine. It isn't necessary. End of story.

Please don't tell me my ideas aren't necessary, but then ask to borrow them anyway. That is very patronizing.

D: Oh, you poor thing.

Need some emulators? I recommend ZSNES. Get that and Chrono Trigger and you're set.
I'm good. Advent Children has bishies in it, so well enough. Also helps out with what isn't on the wiki for FFVII... to an extent, anyway.
What are these "emulators" of which ye speak?

So... you take offence that I think an idea of your won't work with my plans, but stands perfectly fine on it's own?

Okay...

Ah, and I don't mean to be patronizing. I blame the internet and bland text.

@Halibel: No idea about emulators? They're nifty programs for your computer that pretend to be videogame systems. The most famous of them is ZSNES, a very good Super Nintendo emulator.

Download that, and extract it. Then download some ROMs (programs that act as the game) and drag the .zip file to to extracted emulator. Then sit back and play the game!

Cool... I think a friend of mine has something similar on his USB drive. Also has the applicable versions of FF VII, VIII, and VIV..... /jealous

I think you need to recheck your Roman numerals... >>

And yeah, PSX emulators are popular too. They're much harder than SNES emulators to get working though, so I recommend avoiding them until they're less stupidly hard to use.

Ah. And, no:
VII---Seven, my favorite. Has Reno and Cloud, also Rufus, and Kadaj.
VIII---eight. V, 5, plus 3.
VIV-- V, 5, plus IV, 4, = 9. Which has Squall. I think.... maybe.

ARGH.

Nine=IX, or 10 (X)-1 (I).

Also, eight was the one with Squall, which blew horribly. Nine had Zidane.

Nothing personal, but the less I say about VII the better our chances of getting out of this discussion without a flamwar. :sweat2:

Oh. Whoops. Yeah, 2 in the morning and with my severely lacking knowledge of FF in general... I'm not too good at keeping track. And why, you don't like? Too many fangirls, maybe...

That's part of it. But I don't care much for any of it, to be honest.

Anyway, I'm not going to say anything. Time to sleep.

I'm glad we're changing this from a 2/4 hour thing to 24 hours. It's the only reasonable option.

8 hours is lost to sleep, and another 8 is lost to work for most of us, so 2/3 of the competition is eliminated just frm being in a bad time zone.

then about 50% of potential competitors are put at a disadvantage by the fact that they will only be aware or capable of entering for less than the full four hours.

Which leaves us with around 16% of possible participants at peak performance potential.

So yay for 24 hour time limit!
