vm: That is amazing and has been SAVED FOREVER.

Everyone else: I need three judges. PM me first, and after I respond you have 24 hours to score each entry to Iron Fic V.

Be prepared for more work as well all you former and potential judges, phase two of Iron Fic is beginning this week....

...What say you, TFF?
Actually this picture of sasami and belidandy would make a good short story with the question Who would win in a cooking contest between these 2 contestants

No one. Whoever wins we lose. The sheer inherent goodness in such a dish would cause the universe to implode in on itself.

Part Two: The elimination round.

Contestants must use the internet to locate and track their competitors, then hunt them down and kill them, posting proof and the story about the kill on TFF for verification of the kill.

Pfft. Elimination round? Tempting, but no.

Answer me this: why do people watch Iron Chef? Hint: The same reason people watch American Idol.

The stars have had their turn, now the judges have to provide the entertainment.

As I've told people on the TFF IRC, and on PMs that I based the TFF Iron Fic contest on the Iron Modder contest on Pocketplane Group. On their forum, after they recieved their entries, the judges would review the stories as if they were judging food on Iron Chef.

I can see the looks on your faces through the internet: WUT!?!

Here's an example from their forum: here. This is from the last contest they held, and the responses show what I'd like for the judges to do: make food jokes as they review the stories.

THAT WAS YOUR PHASE TWO IDEA???

HOW RIDICULOUS!!!

And awesome. Never forget awesome. XD

But then, we'll need to cut back to 3 judges.

Watashiwa.

I totally brospect you. But... if you want to be taken seriously, if you want Iron Fic to flourish and to become what it deserves to be, we, the writers, demand that we be given the same respect that we give unto you.

We want scores. No more, no less. We who work under a time limit of four hours to create something that people can enjoy ask that you and your judges be given a time limit similar to our own - no more than a week, until the next Iron Fic contest starts.

We know, by now, that even Shaderic sent you his scores. Iron Fic 4 has been twelve days ago, and still we have not seen an inkling of scores. Nothing.

Despite your many promises to post them at whatever date you named, you have disappointed us by, well, not posting them. Wata, please, I beg of you, man up and post those scores. We writers want to know how badly we suck.

With bro- and respect,
Cornuthaum.

If that's Phase 2, you could have warned the judges BEFORE they did and finished their jobs. How am I supposed to make jokes on fics I already judged? Also, the reason it works so well is that they're all at the same place at the same time.

How do you intend to accomplish that here?

And I fully support Cornuthaum on what he said.

Wata. There are limits to slacking off, even in judging. You said you wanted judges to give you scores within 2 days, yet you yourself drag it out. How hard is it to average scores already given to you? Seriously, even I can do it in a short time, using a program called Excel.

So stop slacking off, dude. It's just common courtesy. Since you organized this competition, at least take responsibility for judging. Or you can have someone else average out the scores and post them online. As long as we, the writers, get our scores in a timely manner. And 12 days is not a timely matter. It's just lazy.

Do we need to labour the point, people? Cornuthaum <s>very nicely</s> said hurry the fuck up. The ball is in Watashiwa's court now - ganging up on him only serves to make us look like complete fags. :(

Dudes, chill.
It took me over a week to get the scores in, because IRL kicked my ass.
Wata's got other things to deal with now.
Now then, for a timely distraction...
*Digs around*
Behold!
My chefly review of 'Purifying Flame'!

Now, then. I tend not to like War Hammer 40,000. The constant use of grimdark makes it all seem very bitter to me. In addition, the hundreds of ingredients available to use in it, tend to make it very easy to spoil. This, I find, stands out.

The grimdark, whilst present, isn't overbearing, like it is in some pieces I've sampled. It's applied properly, adding a nice tone to the entire course.

We start off with nothing too interesting. It certainly seems ordinary enough. But, once we bite into it, and you can taste the bitterness that grimdark is famous for.

The use of the ingredient, fire, is immense in the first dish. It's nothing we haven't seen before, but it is certainly applied gratuitously.

But, what gets me, is the twist that the use of the psyker brings out of the inquisitor. I was expecting maybe a sorrowful center. I was instead shocked by the use of satisfaction, not to mention the 'Sword and Fire' bit. What seemed like a normal, borderline bland piece, if properly prepared, and incredibly airy seeming, is suddenly an extremely dark and thick piece. The use of light grimdark, instead of distracting like it normally would if applied heavily, only seems to exaggerate the amount that it seems to stand out.

The twist meshes perfectly with what I've come to expect from 40k dishes. While it stands out, it doeesn't serve to completely alienate all the other tastes and ingredients used.

A very good dish. I look forward to sampling the future fruits of your labor, Grunt.

This was actually done on time. It just never ended up posted because of the fact that the scores for the other entry weren't done at the time.

I'm going to work on getting one done for every IRONfic.

Is it too late to join in for Iron Fic 5? I dig these kinds of things.

EDIT: OR 6, as the case may be.
