So, I recently embarked on a titanic quest: I want to watch every Heisei era Kamen Rider show. I had started with Den-O but stopped midway. Then, I saw Kuuga. And I said 'This shit is good'.

Kamen Rider Kuuga is dated 2000/2001, is the first Heisei era show and the one that revived Kamen Rider for Japan. I can see why. I dub this the most logical tv-show ever. Yes, a Kamen Rider show.

I like how the police are always shown running around to stop these monsters and think of new ways to put them down. Ultimately they fail unless you count the few off-screen but that this even happens is good. Although why it's left only to the police after 26 episodes and with a body count of 2000... Well, maybe in the latter episodes.

The fight scenes lack CG and special effects, and that is good. They feel real, the blows feel real as in, two people without much grace or any martial arts training beatjng the crap out of each other with whatever they have.

I'm at half series. Hope it keeps on being this awesome.

So, your thoughts in anything Kamen Rider? And pwease try to keep it spoiler free or at least put warnings and the culprit text in grey.

I've watched a few of the Showa Series growing up namely V1, V2, V3 and Black(both seasons). The Heisei ones are Kuuga, Agito, Blade, 555, Ryuki, Kabuto, Den-O, OOO, Kiva, W and Fourze.

I must say that the series has gone through a few changes from when it was under Ishinomori. The Showa series were deeply moralistic, concerning the environment, greed, apathy, rage and sadness. Kuuga was the last series Ishinomori worked on and he died before he got to see it air. As you can see, the series is very logical and makes a lot of sense but sadly a few of the Heisei series after that don't carry it as deeply, sometimes failing outright.

I must warn you though, if you watch KR Faiz(555) be ready to get frustrated yet captivated by the dark and twisted storyline. When I watched it, I was like 'They're showing THIS during the weekends? For KIDS?'

Rider Kick is the Finishing Move of the Kamen Rider Series. Pretty much all Kamen Rider series have Rider Kick as their finisher with Rider Punch coming in second, with a few exceptions of course. It's the source of many jokes in the KR circles.

Also, how far into Kuuga are you Meinos? And which team's subs are you using? One small trivia. If you read his card carefully, Godai Yuusuke's business cards says something like 'A man with 2000 talents/skills'. Makes you wonder what sorts of talents/skills he has.

I've seen/read lots of Rider Kick jokes and I still laugh at them. You'd think I'd get tired of them but no, still funny.

I personally have watched every Heisei series bar 6, 2 of them having had parts watched, the shows I haven't watched being Kuuga, Agito (plan to watch those two last), Faiz and Hibiki, the two partials being Kabuto and Den-O.

I watched Blade the most recently (besides OOO and Fourze), and while I didn't like it at first, it drew me in as I watched on past the first 8-9 eps. I liked Ryuki a lot actually, considering I had also watched Dragon Knight, but then again, I judged each as seperate (I enjoy Xaviax as a villian, Kanzaki... not so much, although one could blame him for every time loop thread in existence), and W was just fun.

My favourite rider though, design wise, is Gills, I love his design and the fact that he's an organic rider, we have about 3 significant organic riders, Amazon, Shin and Gills.

Although it does remind me of a rider fic I read, where, due to some weird world fusing which Tsukasa had to show up to deny, the Weather Dopant is busyfighting off Kiva, Dark Kiva, Blade, Challice and W, the battle ending with Blade and Challice in Joker forms, fighting each other, W about to go into FangJoker form... but the decleration of "Joker" from the memory gets both Jokers glaring.

Heres something anyone who's seen Kiva may understand: I want to see a fanfic that expands on the other demon races (The Arm's Monsters races, Fangires, Kivat and the like are included, and yes, there are others according to supplimentry materials). Like for example, I'd like to hear more about the Kiviat and Sagarac races, and where exactly Sagarac went when Taiga got Kivat the Second.

Or even better, a rewrite of the movie that has it fit into canon.

I think my favorite Kamen Rider series is Fourze, it's just been a lot of fun from start to finish. Least favorite would probably be either Kiva or Den-O. God I hated those, Gave up on watching both of them. I've been watching the Original series now that there are some people subbing it.

Yeah, I'm liking Fourze too. I'm just not sure if they're playing the western high-school situation schtick straight or if they're poking fun at it

Regarding KIVA; I liked it. It's obviously for kids but the story is interesting enough though I wasn't so hot on the design.

There's potential in the series with the break between 2 eras to write/imagine what happens. Fleshing out the characters more. Too bad I couldn't get my sister who went to Japan to buy me the Data book for the Kamen Rider series that I've seen. The only data book that I've seen is the Data Book for Kabuto that my friend bought.

2000 skills... Well I know that Godai knows how to juggle and fight. Obviously not playing the 'magically knows how to fight when transformed' card. Could make a pretty great game. List 2000 or even just 10 of the mundane/weird/whatever skills or talents that Godai has.

@Anonguy - Oh my gosh I haven't heard that song in a long time. Have you heard the 2011 version? (song is in my head now. Rider! JUMP! Rider! KICK!)

I'm planning, once All Riders comes out, or when I finish my uni exams, whichever is first, to go on and do my OOO fanfiction, a what-if that not only asks "What if Mezool survived becoming the Greeed Monster in episode 16, and joined up with Eiji due to lack of options?" but also will attempt to essentially modify Movie Wars Core and All Riders to be canon, amongst other plans.

God I loved All Riders. For me Ankh was the best part, just how much of a fuck he didn't give about ruining the timeline. God, he was the best character in OOO's.

I've seen Decade, OOO, Kiva, Den-O with Kabuto and Fourze being my latest series to start.

I've liked each and every one I've seen so far, but....Decade left with me one burning question..

Out of all the series I've seen OOO would definately have to be my favorite. I found Kiva to be an interesting series to watch, Decade was fun, Den-O was HILARIOUS, especially the interaction between the Imagin and Ryoutaro was a definate favorite Hero next to Eiji and Wataru.

I'm a little more then half way through Kabuto and I'm debating on whether to watch Faiz or Double next...

Am I the only one who wants a true crossover between Kuuga and Agito? I heard they were originally supposed to take place in the same continuity, but then the original writers of Kuuga basically said "Godai saved the world already, give him a break". And then Agito took place in an AU.

We see a little bit of what would happen if the Grongi and the Lords fought each other in Decade, the Grongi would basically get their asses kicked. But then again, those seem to be lower level Grongi. If we took a higher level Grongi, like the one that took Amazing Mighty Kuuga to beat, then the Lords will have trouble. Furthermore, it would be interesting to see how the Grongi react to Agito/Gills.

It could be a really interesting story, if written correctly.

Is anyone else tired of Den-O taking all the crossover movies?

I want to see Decade take over and be the main focus along with the other hero of that series.

The last couple of movies that've featured Den-O have basically punted out the main hero of that series it came in just for Den-O...

Den-O and Kiva? Kiva gets barely a mention....

Den-O and Decade? Decade gets a SLIGHTLY bigger role then Kiva, but still a small one.

Den-O and OOO's? The biggest sharing of roles yet, but still...

It's because children love the Imagin. It's not even about Den-O as much as the Taros. Toei knows this and uses them as a cashcow that needs to be put down by now. It won't be though. I bet there's going to be a Den-O / Fourze movie where Fourze and Den-O have to go back in time to the first moon landing or something. And all through out it it'll be banter between Momotarous and Gentarou about becoming friends. Goddamn it, I'm already mad.
