Akamatsuverse [Love Hina] General Reccommendations

General Reccommendations
KeitaroxKonata... very interesting pairing and a pretty good premise, I want to say that the author is pulling it off, but there are some points where he/she stumbles, which probably have turned off many readers (yes, the faux-eroge thing is top of the list).
Keitaro is not the Otaku in question... Konata is. Kei's a gamer with good rep, good standing with his guildies, solid skills at playing his favorite game with a well decked out toon; but not really an Otaku. From the opening scene he had to be almost coerced to drop his study session to get online and play.
At moments it feels like it's Kei's story at others Konata's... changing the first person perspective is not a bad thing, per se... but there are moments where you can't decide/confirm who's perspective we (the reader's) are in; even though it's mostly Kei's.
More than a romance... it's a very strong platonic relationship, almost a Bromance (come on, we all have to admit, Konata is more a Bro than a proper girly girl); that situation could change in the following chapters, but it will take a good effort from the writer; unless he decides to friendzone one or the other (Kei's studying habits kinda lampshade TouDai and possibly teh promise grrl... and Konata, might not want a deeper relationship, yet).
While no Hina Girls have appeared, it's nice to get a little "Kei before Love Hina" backstory/character development... though at this point it's more of a Keitaro getting dropped into a non-wacky episode of Lucky Star instead.
I'll toss my stock in with ragnarok1337 in that Konata should be the one with the eroge-like decision tree, since she's the eroge fangirl and bigger otaku of the pairing, especially since she pointed it out during their first Off Line Meeting; and Kei's just too much of a nice guy to (usually) think of friendships as a game.
If anything, Keitaro would quickly work through internal self doubt and do his best in keeping the relationship with Konata as healthy and PG-13 as possible. He'd be more of the mental "should I go with OptionA... or would she like OptionB more?", but more as quick to decide and succeed/fail and roll with the punches.
Still a pretty enjoyable story even with its faults. Short and sweet... could do with a little more depth... but that's personal taste.

That was one of the negative points I didn't mention.. because I decided to ignore that factoid, since the writer put it in for NO REASON WHATSOEVER, didn't even use it for character building...

I wouldn't be surprised. When I post, half the time the post doesn't show up until I refresh. When I edit, the post doesn't show the edit until a refresh. Editing an edit won't show the prior edit until a refresh.
PCHeintz72 or someone like ThreadWeaver mentioned the board software is really outdated - perhaps support by invision is dropping or other incompatibilities are increasing.

Well, The Beast That I Am updated. She-hulk fusion, in case you're wondering. And Shinobu finally Hulked Out and is beginning to lay the smackdown on Koalla, Naru and Motoko. Falls into some cliche character exaggeration, but is a decent read overall.

I've written down and deleted and re-brainstormed content for that off and on (in the past year), but not enough to call it a decent chapter.
Also been trying to work in an alternative to the canonic "Hinata Sou Girls revolt" leading into Kei's return... without sounding cliché or derivative.

Strong recommendation on this one, it does gets waffy and tugs at heartstrings at times, but overall a great Kitsune story without going too off the rails with the characterizations.
OC Heavy, but still palatable. Caution: might get boring as it does get a little too blatant with quasi-harem shenanigans and an almost perfect husbando material Kei.
That extra scene with Motoko at the very end makes me wish the Author had followed through with that idea also.

Outsider Looking In had a few updates since I last checked the Love Hina section. Got a bit of Naru backstory and why she hates Keitaro so much, Naru's pretty much completely lost it by now, the relationship between Kitsune and Keitaro is getting deeper (this may be the only fic where I actually like her at all), and things are coming to a head. Tokyo U testing, the Yokohama Cycling tour, Kitsune's swimming competition and more are all happening.
Can't wait for the next update.

Nothing against Yuri, but the pairing felt forced and goes against character... and as much as the author tried to explain his reasons for developing it that way, it just didn't work for me as a reader (honestly, I am a fervent KeixMoto fanboy so... yeeeeeeah... noooo...). Still wish him luck tho.
