Well, it's just because it's slow going for the next adventure. But, to bring things more in-line, here's a challenge to the writers of snippets in this thread:

Write Keitaro's interactions with each of the girls when he gets home. Just one at a time. It can be funny, it can be dramatic, it can be lemony (though I suggest you post that in the lemon thread of Special Ops Urashima), just make sure it's Keitaro coming home.

I, in the meantime, am working on the next adventure. But I want to make sure it goes well.

IMO, this helps expand the universe of this fic a bit...much like Metal Gear itself.

An attempt at setting up a lemon scene for later on.
=================================

Once she heard that Keitaro was returning, Kitsune had not been idle. The flirtatious partygirl had been thinking for a long time now, and had come to a startling conclusion.

Before his arrival, Kitsune had been going out on one night stands practically every day, and even she'd have described herself as 'a bit mercenary' in her outlook. But after Keitaro arrived, those had trailed off slowly but steadily, and she knew why; she'd been comparing them to that loveable goof, and they'd consistantly fallen short of the mark. And Naru didn't help wth that, stealing all the boys away. Damnit, she had needs too!

Now, there was opportunity knocking on her door, Kitsune would be damned if she let it slide, like Naru had so many times. "Sorry Naru, but I'm not letting this one get away." she decided, stripping naked, before she went to her closet and rifled through her outfits.

"No, too gaudy... too provocative.... not provocative enough....." she muttered, dismissing them one at a time, before stopping, and smiling widely.

"Perfect." she said, pulling out the short dark orange kimono and holding it against herself. As the light played over it, it revealed that dark red foxes had been patterned into the fabric. She slipped it on and then posed in her mirror. it fitted her like a glove, accentuating her best features.

A big foxy smirk settled on her features. "He'll never be able to resist."

Was the scene with Motoko over in the lemon section for this story or for the Spec op story in Ideas, that seems to have stopped

It works for either, I think.

BTW: How does Keitaro look like here in this fic storyline? His old self or his Seta Lite incarnation?

He looks different from either of his former selves physically. He's become a bit taller and he's in peak physical shape, of course. As for his glasses, he uses them to maintain his cover only now after getting some eye surgery. His hair's still nice and short though-No need to lengthen it into a mullet.

And are his glasses his old square-shaped ones or the the rectangular ones same to Seta's? Or has this Keitaro chosen more round or oval-shaped glasses for some reason?

Of course, there is one aspect of all this I completely forgot...

Sentai Series.? ^_^
Sentai Series, could be the equivalent of the magical boys, they would be less common than the magical girls but probably not embarrassing.

In fact you should have a rating for special humans in this world.
Something like:
Magical girls =Sailor Moon, Wedding Peach, Minki Momo
Sentai Teams= Ultraman, Power Rangers, Kamen raider
Ki Adeps= Ranma, Keitaro, Motoko.

I was reading your international political situation earlier and I noticed you mentioning EDA interventions in troubled countries looking more and more like occupations. Now, I understand the creative liberty at play here, but considering the fact that 90% (totally made up statistic) of Germans are scared to death of becoming like the Nazis again (and have laws against any type of totalitarian organization), I find it unlikely that they'd turn ruthless imperialist in less then a century.

As for the EU breaking up, I imagine it was most probably the "new" EU members of East Europe that broke away (probably Russian influence?) and the EDA reformed around the core West Europe members. (Does it even need to reform under a new name? I personally doubt it, but hey. Also, Greece does count as core member.) Poland is better off in the EU, so I wonder what caused it to leave, and let's face it the Poles are a good people to have on your side.

As Britain moving away from the EU... I sincerely don't know what the British really think of the EU, but it'd require something really big to make them break away. Especially since the "Second" Battle of Britain written earlier would have seen the French, Belgian, German and Dutch Airforces come screaming into the rear of the attacking demon forces. But truthfully, the Franco-British alliance is still strong, despite the cold spots, and there is little more powerful bound then blood shed together in battle. And while I have little knowledge of Anglo-German relations, I would bet that in this Strange New World, the Big Three of Europe would rather hang together then risk hanging separately.

If anything, I would see, if of course there is a movement of cooperation between the armed forces of the member nations against the invaders, the EU grow more united and stronger for it. The effects of a tri-polar superpower political landscape (USA, EU, Russia) would be very interesting, especially since Europe is a place of History and Legends. Lots of Magical Juju there, man.

Well, I guess I was going rather cynical with my analysis, but the truth is that Russia keeps being the big bads of various video games nowadays so I wanted to try something a little different.

But okay. The EU splinters a bit but NATO becomes much, much stronger in response to the Russian Civil War and the massive rise of mystical incursions. However, connections between the core members of the EU strengthen-A few nations just pull out when offered support from other sources...

The question would be which ones? The core members of the EU are in their best interest to stay within and maintain the Union. The French might be interested in a confederation more then the Germans, who support a more federalized and centralized union, and the English, who just want a big Free Trade Zone, but they all realize that they need each other. The smaller founding nations (I am aware that the UK was not a founding nation) still draw a lot of benefits from their involvement. As for the new members, and prospective members like Turkey, they gain a lot from the financial bounty that comes with the EU, whatever problems it might also bring.

But frankly, and it hasn't not changed for a long time, the greatest divide amongst the EU is the Iron Curtain, fallen though it might have. The West resents the East for parasitizing on their economy as they rebuild (and rebuilding and sometimes constructing from the ground up it is, East Europe is still a god forsaken mess.) , and the East feels that the West isn't doing enough to help them get over the economy repercussion of the Cold War. Only exception would be Poland who despite being in much the same situation as the rest of the East is just damn glad to not be under Soviet/Russian rule anymore and be shielded by the EU umbrella from Russian influence.

There's always something strange with having a floating island flying over the North Atlantic Ocean, considering how can something with so large a mass actually fly in the sky. That's what normal people would've said if not for the existence of magic and superscience that defied the laws of logic, physics and reason that made such weird and eerie things quite commonplace.

On that floating island of wonders in a lush forest crowned by ancient trees that seemed to have existed since the dawn of time the strange sense of tranquil bliss from this place was disrupted by thunderous detonations and the sounds of automatic gunfire.

Keitaro Urashima of SCARF was really starting to hate this mission. Ever since he and a group of black ops operatives had arrived by helicopter the mission went to hell. The UH-60 Black Hawk had been shot down by an energy ray minutes after leaving the drop off site, killing the crew inside. And then packs of magical girls pounced on them.

I guess this is what you could compare with one of your dates gone bad with Naru, and when I say bad I mean really, really bad. Eh, Solid Ronin? A voice quipped through the codec transmission.

"Shut up, Midas! Can't you see that I'm in a bit of a jam here!" Keitaro growled as he knocked out an underage magical girl out cold by slamming her against the ground and then dove behind a tree that became seconds later bombarded with magical blasts of energy clothes in psychedelic colours that would give an average person headaches. He twisted his arm out from behind the tree and emptied the magazine of his Uzi, blindfiring in the direction he guessed those brats were hiding. Several wails coming from young female voices confirmed a few hits as he ejected the empty magazine and hastily inserted a fresh one and pulled the bolt back.

The squad beside him opened up with suppressing fire to pin down their young adversaries while one soldier extracted his wounded comrade out of harm's way.

"Fire in the hole!" A spherical green object was lobbed down where the hiding magical girls were pinned down. Seconds later it detonated throwing up showers of dirt, wood and meat, followed by the wails of the dying and wounded.

Satellite images and recon drones confirm that the experimental Mahou Gear on this godforsaken floating piece of dirt is operational, Solid Ronin. Shotakon's voice buzzed through the codec.

"Not now!" Keitaro snarled. "I'm busy here trying not to get blasted into atoms!"

It is imperative that the Gear is neutralized to complete Operation Island Thunder before they launch their payload into the US. Lennon interjected.

"I can't destroy that walking piece of trash if I'm dead û can I!?!" Keitaro roared into the codec and switched off the transmission while pistol whipping the magical girl who snuck up on him into dreamland.

But you have to admit that this villain has a sense of irony by corrupting magical girls from the shadows to believe that America is the source of all evil and having them launch the payload of neutron bombs into the East Coast in order "humble the Great Satan", as the Kodomo no Taiyo call it, with the Mahou Gear Rex model that was stolen. Midas remarked in sardonic amusement.

Just be glad that the railgun of this Rex was replaced with an intermediate range missile pod containing six missiles, each containing a neutron warhead or they'd launched their missiles hours ago. Athena's voice crackled slightly through the magical statical interference caused by all the magic unleashed on him and the other soldiers.

"Brace yourselves!" A soldier beside him barked to the others. "They've got reinforcements coming!"

More magical girls came, some of them by ground and some of them by air, streaking through the sky while trails of magical energies were left in their. Following them closely came a mass of animal companions that seemed to them as a thick swarm of hungry locusts.

"This just sucks!" Keitaro whined to himself in apparent self-pity. He was stirred from this sense of self-melancholy by the beeping of the codec which seconds later switched itself automatically on.

Solid Ronin, this the captain of the Xerxes speaking. We've been assigned to this mission as aerial fire support by Midas and the higher-ups.

"I love you, Kentaro, you know that." Keitaro uttered in gratification.

Yeech! Don't go sentimental on me here, Solid Ronin! And besides: I don't really think that cheating on Naru with me would be good idea since you're not my type and I'm into girls. Midas replied in a snide manner.

--

The gunship arrived a few minutes later with fighter escort. Some of the magical girls saw it and had four flight capable of their numbers swoop up into the air to intercept and destroy the newly arrived intruders. But unfortunately for them the flying war machines were prepared for scenarios like these.

The F-22 Raptors began firing missiles at the flying maidens blowing them easily out of the sky, due to the air-to-air missiles being magic-seeking models that could easily track them despite their many evasions and dodges. At the same time the gunship came closer and closer to its destination.

Before the rest of the magical army got to react, Keitaro heard a crackling voice through the codec.

Free help from above coming right up! Over and out...

The crew of the enhanced AC-130 U Spooky opened fire with it's deadly payload, unleashing death from above in the form of a twenty-five millimetre gatling gun, a forty millimetre autocannon and finally the one hundred five millimetre howitzer.

The metal bird spewed death. It was like the flock of magical girls and their beasts where caught in a meatgrinder of explosions that tore them apart like they were nothing.

It didn't seem to faze the gunners and the rest of the crew of the Xerxes who seemed all to be listening to Drowning Pool's cover version Billy Idol's song Rebel Yell.

And if it expires pray help from above"

In the midnight hour she cried- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell she cried- "more, more, more"
In the midniight hour babe- "more, more, more"
With a rebel yell- "more, more, more"

Some of them managed to set up magical force fields which seconds later were swiftly overcome by the merciless circling barrage descending down on them like fire from the sky hurled from a wrathful god. Which not even they with their immense skills and power could stand against as death came to them as well as it had the others.

This is Xerxes: guns are dry... I think we went a little overboard.

"You think?" Keitaro stared in disbelief at the carnage before him. Even though they were hostiles he still felt the urge to throw up. Trees, dirt, animals and human remains all blasted apart and lying spread everywhere while the gunship that had circled around like a hungry vulture discontinued its flight pattern and returned to base.

Another codec transmission disrupted his utter revulsion.

Solid Ronin, this is Renegade Squad leader. The beacon has been planted and the Mahou Gear pilot has been neutralized. We're extracting the missile pod module by chopper and are heading for the extraction point...We're pulling out now.

--

The UH-60 Black Hawks rose carrying the survivors swiftly away from the former floating paradise that had been turn into a slaughtering ground.

My, my. You do make a good decoy after all, Solid Ronin. When they heard that the Solid Ronin was there they came like flies into the spider's web. Kentaro Sakata under his alias Midas commented dryly.

Keitaro just chose to ignore the transmission and turned to one of the members of Renegade Squad sitting beside him. "How did you manage to stop them from using the Mahou Gear Rex to kill you?" he simply asked.

"What do you think we did? We welded the cockpit shut so that no one could get into that thing." was the gruff reply he got.

--

Several minutes later from the reaches of space, the satellite-based ion cannon opened fire on the moving target, blasting the inert Mahou Gear into nothingness and cracking the floating island into several pices that came crashing down into the ocean..

hmmmmm.... A little too bloody IMHO, and kinda wasteful too, why kill so many MG, when you could use something like the bad guys using them as mana batteries to empower soldiers, using them as avatars for the MG powers or using demon's or Youmas empowered the same way ?

It's not a bad chapter but I don't see Keitaro killing so many MG willingly or helping to do so.

In the end they just look like a bunch of soldiers killing some misguided fanatics or brainwashed kids, the kind of things that can seriously scar or traumatize someone.

And the whole music thing only added an extra douche uncaring killers soldiers aura to the whole thing.

I agree with Tonyloco.

Its too bloody and more importantly, the original flavour that AJT infused into the story is missing. I mean come on, its supposed to be a magical girl flavoured romantic comedy with MGS as a side dish.
