Anyone had to repair after running PVP battlegrounds and found themselves with a ridiculous repair bill?

Because I found myself with a 15 gold repair bill when I was expecting maybe 1 or 2 gold at the worst.

I'd repaired after the patch, and then again after I'd gotten my Venomspine Raptor mount, and the only other thing my DK has done since was run two battlegrounds, head to Southshore for the Halloween horde quests there, and then get ganked twice by alliance players while getting the hell out of Southshore.

Now, if nothing's bugged, the only reason I should've taken ANY damage at all is because of one damaging fall during one battleground fight (the fall was damaging, but didn't kill me, another player did), and while the various guards around Southshore ineffectively attempted to gang up on me.

The only other times I've died since is via PVP.
It's possible. I did some WG about day or two after the patch and the repair bill was expensive afterwards. I didn't really think anything odd about it because I was testing out a mechanic for resto druids and had a lot of players trying to kill me. I thought the damage was from normal attacks and not because of any deaths.

Something weird, possibly a bug, popped up after I got flagged PVP earlier tonight: when I logged out and logged back in or used a portal to another city, the PVP timer would reset to 5 minutes, even if it had been at 3 minutes or even 8 seconds.

I was also flagged PVP after finishing a battleground, but only HALF of the time, which leads me to believe that either I shouldn't be flagged PVP after I finish a battleground, or I should've been and wasn't.... (I don't PVP much, can you tell? :p )

Yet, when I took a flightpoint, my PVP flag cleared automatically.

Anyone know if this is a bug, a glitch, or whatever? Or if it was just happening to me?

One more question for the night: Anyone know what the price of PVP heirlooms is now? Or has it even adjusted? I'm thinking of getting the shoulders and chest piece for a rogue. (as well as the Cloak and Helm, if WoWWiki is correct in that those pieces will add +10% EXP each in Cataclysm)

When you enter a BG or WG, you become flagged for PvP. After the end, when you exit the zone, it takes 5 minutes to reset.

If you change zones by using a teleport, portal, hearthstone or anything that causes a loading screen to appear, the timer resets to 5 minutes.

When you use a flightpoint, the PvP flag is disabled. I don't know if it's just for the duration of the flight or if the flag gets disabled complete.

When you enter a sanctuary zone (Shattrath or Dalaran), your PvP flag is also disabled. Also not too sure about this, but I think the timer still counts down though. So if you exit the zone while the timer is still up, the PvP flag set again. But the timer shouldn't reset, unless you used a portal, etc.

All of these has been like this before the patch, so it isn't bugs.

As for the PvP heirlooms, Wowhead lists it as 217,500 honor points, which seems excessive. Also, there isn't any chest piece PvP heirlooms, only shoulders, weapons and trinkets. JP prices for the PvE heirlooms is also high, and Blizzard has confirmed that these prices is balanced for level 85, so the honor point prices might be as well.

Your can try buying the heirlooms with Argent Tournament badges. Iirc, they haven't been changed.

Thanks!

EDIT: Almost have The Hallowed on two characters and already have it on two. On the other two, all I'm missing is the toothpick achievement.

Darn Tooth Picks! >_<

Also, fun little glitch you can do if you have the Rickety Flying Broom and the Flying Broom.

Mount the Rickety Flying Broom, then without dismounting, mount the Flying Broom. The brooms will disappear, but you will be able to fly. But your character will "swim".

Just have to wait for the patches to download(which it says will take 30 hours on my crap internet :blue: ) and for blizzard to de ban me since it seems I got hacked recently after nearly two years of not playing...... someone had to much free time on their hands.

Ouch.

Something similar happened to a friend of mine who'd actually canceled his account. Two months later, someone reactivated it and started selling his gear and looting his guild's bank. He found out 11 days after the incident (apparently, either the guild was small or wasn't overly very active when it came to the guild bank)

Oh yeah, and be ready for a shake up if you were familiar with most of the classes. A number of classes have been completely redesigned, such as the paladin, while others... not so much. (I didn't notice too many changes on my DK, rogue, priestess or druid; though my mage was able to learn a few more teleport locations at level 31, and my warlock doesn't need soul shards at all)

One thing that changed overall is that you select your talent tree at level 10, and until you have put 31 points in it, you can't put talent points in any other tree.

There are also some stat changes. ArP and Defense are gone. Any ArP gear and gems was changed to Crit (afaik), and you become crit immune with talents and the specific tanking mechanic (Blood Presence for DK, Bear form for Druid, Defensive Stance for Warriors). MP5 is also gone and is replaced with Spirit. All healers get the 50% mana regen while casting with their talent trees now. Also, Priests, Druids and Shamans get a talent to boost Hit chance with Spirit. Spellpower is now granted through Int, and it's only weapons and some enchants that grant SP directly now.

As for DK, Blood has become the only tanking tree, with the proper Presence also being Blood. The Blood and Frost presences have basically been switched around. A couple of talents have also changed trees, one of the most notable (for me) is that the mounted speed talent is now in Frost and not Unholy.

The major change for Druids that I know of is in Balance and Resto. I haven't played Feral in some time. Balance has a new Eclipse mechanic. Wrath and Starfire now gives either Lunar or Solar energy, until you 100 energy and go into Eclipse. You remain in a Eclipse state until the energy reaches 0 again. One of the new spells, Starsurge, give either Lunar or Solar energy, depending on what you where moving towards with the previous spell. For Resto the Tree form is now a 3 minute CD, but it enhances some spells while doing so (Regrowth and Roots become instant cast, Lifebloom on more than one target, Wrath has 1 second cast). Also, Regrowth has become our quick spam heal and Lifebloom can only be cast on one target usually, but grants Replenishment if talented.

I don't know much about Priest and Rogue though.

Oh it get's even better, I didn't notice till I went onto my armory page but it seems that my alchemy has been replace buy minning, and going buy the achievements that whoever hacked my account got, has been playing for over a year, a year after though that I quite playing. But considering it would be putting it right at the time that this whole battle.net bullshit started I guess it makes sense since I did make the converstion then.

Rogue changes were kinda half/half. Combat's Mastery is currently something you leave alone. Don't reforge for it if that's your main spec. Talent trees were reworked so certain iconic abilities of the tree don't need to be bought, but you can't get them if that wasn't the tree you started on. Mutilate for Assassination, Blade Flurry for Combat, Shadowstep for Subtlety.

Combat, in my opinion, should now be built with a dual focus on dps and survivability. Armor upgrade talents and the improvement to Recuperate helps greatly for raids and solo content. New combo point generator in the tree as well, and it actually produces a marked increase to damage on the next finishing move when used.

That's as fucked up as one guy who hacked another friend's account and put an authenticator ONTO the account.

Good thing that, in both instances, everything was replaced after about two or so days.

Honestly, I don't understand hackers, especially in WoW. You're risking jail time just for maybe a minute's chuckle or gold that you'd be able to get spending about as much time as it takes to hack an account.

Problem is that it's the gold farmers who really hack accounts, they often use stolen or spoofed credit card numbers to activate or to do character/faction transfers to get the gold where they need it.

I had my account hacked many months ago the little @#$ who took it moved 2 of my 80s to different servers and faction and had an authenticator attached to my account so he can take his time to clean it out. If that wasn't enough he also advertised his gold selling which got my account banned, over all it took a few days for Blizzard to send me a password reset email and remove the authenticator, which I left alone until my authenticator arrived in the mail and a week before I got all the stuff that was taken back.

Blizzard was quick in getting things done it's just that they're busy and swamped with account problems that actually getting a hold of them was a bit of a chore.

Yeah that's how backlogged they are but if you actually made it to be on hold then you're set because some people can't even get that point and had to phone later. Heck I had to dial and redial a couple dozen times to even get on the hold line.

I had my account hacked about three months ago. I don't know if they just got extremely lucky or what happened, but somehow they managed to change my password, but it was a one time shot for them because they couldn't deactivate my authenticator. Sent Blizz an email and had my password reset within 24 hours.

Funny thing was, they didn't touch my actual account, but ransacked my beta toons. Not sure why they did that because I didn't have anything special on there, made new toons and was right back where I started.

How far are you along with it, specially for Kalimdor and EK, as those are the most time-consuming? Outland is straightforward for the most part, where the only problem I had was for a couple of quests in Nagrand where the questline started in Shadowmoon. Northrend is also straightforward, but you will need some help to get past some of the group quests in Icecrown.

Since Cataclysm is a month away, you don't have a lot of time. I'm not too sure about how it's going to work, but Outland should be unaffected and Northrend might have some minimal changes. There was a blue post that stated that people busy with EK and Kalimdor Loremaster will be the hardest hit with Cataclysm because of all of the removed quests.

My suggestion is to get the wowhead looter addon from their site. It records all of the quests done and you can upload it. Then you can check which quests you still need to do to complete. On the site it's split up in zones, so much easier to check.

I think you only need minimal amount of dungeon quests, or possibly none at all. I have done a couple for EK and Kalimdor, about 4 or 5 for Outland and none for Northrend. I'm also not sure if all dungeon quests count towards the achievements.

You will need to do group quests though. Not a problem for most parts, but their are some you will need to group, depending on class and spec. Most of these will probably be Icecrown and Stormpeaks though.

I suggest starting at the race starting zones and then moving your way up. Skip grinding quests unless needed (ie Desolace Centaurs factions). I know that that with the EPL repeatable quests, the first turnin does count, but not the ones after it.

Hmm... I'm probably not going to make it in time for Cata then.

468/685 for Kalimdor. 68.32%
298/550 for Eastern Kingdom. 54.18%
321/515 for Outlands. 62.33%
605/875 for Northrend. 69.14%
Total: 1692/2625 or 64% of the required quests. :(

I could probably get it for Outlands and Northrend, which would put me into a good position to get it for Old World once Cata drops.

If you get a continent achievement, you still keep it for the loremaster part. Because northrend/outlands aren't going to change, I'd say focus on finishing kalimdor since you're mostly done there, only do quests in EK that are necessary to finish kalimdor.

When you finish kalimdor, if you think you have the time for it, work on EK, otherwise just go ahead and do outlands/northrend.

That way when cataclysm hits (and keep in mind that most of the changes are supposed to hit with patch 4.0.3b, not cataclysm, so likely 1-2 weeks even before december 7), you only have to focus on one continent instead of 2+

Found it! It's a interview with Ghostcrawler on Wowhead:

Malgayne: Yeah, I can understand that. What else have we got here...oh! Something that a lot of people have been asking aboutÔÇöand maybe you know the answer to this, maybe you don't, butÔÇöwhat's going to happen to the quest-based achievements when Cataclysm resets all the quests? Things like Loremaster of...Eastern Kingdoms, or whateverÔÇö

Ghostcrawler: I can tell you how I think it's going to work, which we may end up changing, but our plan for right now is if you have the achievement, it won't go away. We don't like taking achievements away from players, generally, so if you ARE Loremaster you'll keep that. What we'll do is change the criteria themselves, to match the new quests. So if you haven't done it yet, you'll still be able to do it and get the Loremaster achievement. If you've already gotten it you're done. We might addÔÇöyou know, we want to make sure we add some new content, since players who really like achievements tend to devour them. So we want to make sure they have enough new stuff to still pursue. The guy who might end up getting screwed is the guys who's likeÔÇöhalfway done, since unfortunately a lot of those quests are just going away, so if they're on say 20 quests in the old world, and Cataclysm ships, then all 20 of those quests may just be deleted, and then they just have to start over. So there may be a little bit of loss of progress there. Those have been a challenge to try and solve, Loremaster and the exploration achievements...
So from my understanding, if you managed to finish a continent, it will stay, but if you're halfway done, then you can expect to have some of your progress removed.

Druids can use polearms. Might need to go learn the actual skill though.

You could go tank spec and tank your way to a new balance set.

Yeah, that's why I was recommending to get Kalimdor done first, so he doesn't lose most of his progress there.

It's also why if someone is still trying to get The Insane, they should focus on getting librams/diamonds since I believe the only reason that was breaking is because of the Shen'dralar, since the items needed for them all drop from instances being changed and they're also merging with night elves to give 'em mages.

I was trying to get that achievement done earlier, but gave up when I saw the price for pristine black diamonds jump up drastically on my server. I just gave up and sold what I did have instead. :sweat2:

Problem is that when I play I get tunnel vision. I that and everytime I tanked in the past I sucked at it. REALLY badly.
