I thought you were going to say that in the Japanese version they called Roll Rush.

Nope. Even in the games Roll and Rush are seperate things... although in the games, Rush, Beat and Tango are VS only programs you can use to enhance Megaman, giving certain benefits. Rush always appeared from dimensional holes.

So I was thinking about the Tsundere archetype the other day, and I'd like to posit something:

super entertaining said:
HER: Tsundere

HIM: Sarcastic
I realize this would be rare to see because the Japanese, as a culture, don't really "get" or "do" sarcasm, but I think it could really work. It would bring a some back-and-forth fun to the dialogue and some emotional reciprocity.

What do you think?

I'm sure I recall some anime characters being sarcastic, but I'm not sure who.

The idea is very interesting, though.

I distinctly recall Mugen from Samurai Champloo having some very biting moments of sarcasm.

Yes well

"Japan" is millions of people

So that's an awfully wide brush to be painting even the dozen-odd people involved in writing a single character.

I'm saying something like "sarcasm is unpopular and foreign with the Japanese" not "sarcasm is an alien thing that a Japanese person cannot even seek to comprehend lest they stare into the unblinking eye of madness"'.

I've seen that one both ways, the voices are not as bad as many others.

The only sarcastic Japanese character I can think of is Dante. And even he's more over-the-top than he is purely sarcastic.

[EDIT]

I take that back. Joe is incredibly sarcastic, and so are a bunch of other characters in the franchise.

Those are the only two I can think of, though.

The dub was superior, in my opinion.

The most sarcastic character to come to mind of stuff I've watched, is Kyon, from The Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzimiya.

Aschen Brodel in SRW OG Endless Frontier has elevated both sarcasm and deadpan snarking (sometimes both at once) to an art form. You should check her out.

Oh. My. GOD. :ph43r:

Gunman actually inspired an idea thanks to another one of his horrible plots.

Okay so he's been working on his Evangelion and High School DxD crossover what of course its rife with bad characterization, unimaginative plot, and a good start that quickly trips and skids off the side of a mountain.

So I tried reading his/her crossover -its better written than his/her others at least- but the above statements made me fall into a mindless stupor that forced me to close the window or be lulled into a catatonic state never to rise again except in the event of my death to seek him/her out and kill them from beyond the grave.

...Okay maybe not that bad.

But that's beside the point, the point is that this could actually be done WELL.

Imagine if you will, a world completely rewritten by Shinji where Gendo, Yui, Rei, Seelie, THIRD IMPACT don't exist anymore or might never have existed or happened at all. No one knows who Shinji Ikari is, not the humans, not the government (maybe), and not the locals of the higher and lower planes of existence.

There is something unnatural about Shinji that might make fallen/angels and devil's alike uncomfortable to be around. He has touched all of humanity and in return all of humanity touched back. This changes him, he can feel the angels and devil's around him, and when they reveal themselves as angels/fallen angels his instincts, ingrained from the billions of lives that touched his soul when they were forced to join through death of self, scream out as one: KILL!!

Contracts? pffft, who needs to become a devil?
Sacred Gear? Who needs the Red Emperor Dragon Gauntlet, he has LONGINUS
Magic? AT FIELD

Shinji is no mere mortal but he is not angel, he is not a devil, he is simply... More human than Human.

Evangelion and High School DxD crossover
I read this as Evangelion and High School D&D crossover.

That is to say, a cross over between NGE and High School Dungeons & Dragons.

By night, Shinji is the Third Child, giant angel robot pilot and defender of Neo Tokyo from the incursions of falling angels. By day, he attends high school with his fellow pilots. Where Elminster teaches Metaphysical Biology, half the class are monstergirls, and Asmodeus is the Student Council President.

Just in case you didn't know. There is actually a Longinus (well, there are many but I am talking about the true one) in DxD, which has a fully human owner, who is quite capable of kicking ass.

If you didn't know, well, that makes it amusing. If you did, sorry.

Upotte idea:

Would a school cultural festival for the Upotte school be the equivalent of a gun show or firearms demonstration? IE, the public gets to come at take a look at the various guns, their accessories, and witness some live fire demos from the girls themselves.

Due to a colossal paperwork screwup none of the girls show up for school. Chiyo would have an excused absence.

Crack Death Note idea: In Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei, Nozomu Itoshiki'a name is written down in a Death Note...and he survives. Now lets put this in the world of DN. Kira is shocked that no matter what he does, this man just won't die. He begins obsessing over it, to the point that the attempted deaths get more and more absurd and he starts losing his composure that helps fool L so well.
