Completely agree with you, Meinos Kaen. Much as I love the lack of mods, GH did point out some sad truths the other day that we all need to look at. Also, it could land Hawk himself in a lot of trouble as well if the more unsavory types of trolls got in. 1. We need people who will respect the spirit of TFF as it is now. The random splurges of off topicness. The bitching and the ranting and the all consuming hatred that would get us banned elsewhere, must be preserved because it's what makes this site so fun and unique.
2. We need people who are unlikely to go into an intolerant rage and nuke everyone left right and center because they offend them on some level. That type of behavior goes against everything that the forums are.
3. Also, sigs do need to be looked at by someone who does have a reasonably relaxed and sensible view of what is acceptable. We don't need nazis blocking members because there's a bit of flesh showing or someone has a somewhat gory one. We all pretty much fall in the late teens and upwards anyway so we mostly don't have an issue with these things really.
TFF is great the way it is, we just need some people to make sure it isn't sabotaged... anymore than it already is- Or more, we need to look like there are a group of people "attempting" to keep things under control. We appreciate all the freedom that has been given to us but there needs to be a bit of common sense purely for the reason of the more malicious troll that could get in at some stage and land a lot of people in trouble for no reason.
Well, disregarding my earlier joke and I think I'll toss my hat into the ring for realz.
I've been here for... I think two-three years now, I can't remember. And during that time I have been a very regular member and very active, I believe I was third or fourth in total posts.
1. I'm one of the more vehement defenders of TFF as it is, although I might want to tone down the sheer
HATE that seems to pour out of this place nowadays, it's hardly my place to tell people how to behave.
2. I rage hard, but unlike some people who I could and will name here (Genocide Heart (Who I feel bad about including on this list because I actually like), Timewave Zero, MageOhki, Locke, Shin Naoya, ADD Kyuubi), I can actually control myself. The only person I'm even tempted to ban were it within my power would be MageOhki simply because of the overwhelmingly venomous atmosphere he gives off.
Thing is, I'm one of those assholes who would rather chew off bits of himself rather then infringe on Freedom of Speech. So unless someone is clearly inappropriate I'd rather not act at all.
3. Meh, unless it's unreasonably huge or blatantly NSFW I couldn't care less.
I greatly prefer warning people then banning them, because we all get pissed off occasionally and being told to cool your shit does often help, or so I feel. Possibly the occasional timed ban to force people to cool off.
My reputation's not exactly sterling silver though. According to my intricate network of spies, I'm considered a snobbish elitist by some, utterly intolerant of the opinions of others. Which I will answer this way.
I actually take the time to research and think about what I say and believe, and I have an extremely low tolerance thresh hold for people who don't make any effort whatsoever to do the same.
