myBB upgrade thread

Mwahaha, I love Stylish.

I could probably get rid of the small amount of padding as well, but I think it'd make it look a bit odd.

Edit: Some coloring too because why not.

Is there a faster way to fix that then manually copypasting affected posts into a text editor, running a regex f/r, and copypasta back into the post?
If there is, I want to know it. My ideal would be if I could run a global find and replace and just be done with the problem.

I'll keep an eye out for threadmarks, if that's something a lot of people want then I might go ahead and commission one if I can't find it already out there.

EDIT: AND LOOK WHO JUST FIXED SMILIES.

EDIT2: Oh yeah and negative rep isn't a thing anymore, but I'm pretty sure what's there will stay.

EDIT3: Hey I think I might have found a find/replace option in the word filter system. Rather than use it to replace naughty words with asterisks I'll just tell it to replace garbage code with double quotes.

Prefer the first one myself.

And we're back to the good old days. Praise the Admin!

Given that the forum is now using three different garbage characters for the missing quotes thing I think there's a CSS fix possible

Hmm, I went to Full Edit a post and discovered that the formatting buttons were missing. Tried it on a few posts, older ones and my latest ones, and got the same problem.

I was going to hold off a few days before noting here...  I've been having issues off and on with the forum post / post edit screen myself.
While the emoticons issue was fixed, what has been happening is two different things.

1. If I am using the quote/multiquote buttons, the screen comes up with the quotes, but if make entries then hit the post reply, it replies, but removes my own entries and just has the original quoted material.

2. If I am just clicking the reply or new reply buttons, sometimes the post screen appears, but everything is greyed out.    I have to hit refresh, and sometimes force it to be in view source mode, for it to work.

The only time I'm not having an issue, is only sometimes when I am not using the multiquote, or using the quick reply (have yet to have a post be trashed on the new quick reply).

I am on Windows 7 sp1, and IE, both with all updates.

On a different note, is it possible as a user option, to always have the post screen come up in the view source mode... I prefer seeing the tags and raw code when making posts.

User CP > Edit Options > Other Options

Put the editor in source mode by default

Thanks... but it did not work, even a log out and a log in after saving the setting did not change that it is defaulting to wysywyg mode.

Is this not what you wanted?

Or does it not work for you?

I made the setting change, but I do *NOT* get that unless I manually each time select the source button

In other important news I just posted a snippet to the Casual Sex Saturdays thread with smart quotes and it came through all right

Have you tried another browser, just to be sure it's not an IE compatibility issue?

Okay, so I'm composing a report and looking to get all of the complaints at once. So far I have
--random post eating in new reply mode
--text options disappearing in full edit mode
--multiquote eating responses in new reply
--borked search

Anything else that I'm missing?

#69
The Multi-Quote button could do with better marking, currently it's Quote, suggesting that it functions as a quote button

I've noticed that a few of my posts have had the formatting mangled after the upgrade. Not entirely sure how/why that happened, but thought I should mention it.

If there's nothing that can be done to fix it from the back end, let me know and I'll repost as/when I have new stuff to pour scorn on.

If it's the junk characters replacing quotation marks, I'm going to try using the word censor to trick the forum into displaying quotation marks. If it's anything else I have no clue; got a link?

Here's a prime example: http://thefanfictionforum.net/showthread.php?tid=17880&pid=1276296#pid1276296

But if nothing can be done, I am working on something and as such will update that particular fic with a reposting.

Something I noticed about the formatting when making posts.

When you write something on a fresh post and press enter to start on new line it looks like it does a double space like it's a new paragraph entirely. But if you preview it or post it, that extra space disappears and you lose your paragraphs.

So it goes from this:

To this:

...And I see we're gone back to the visible images and quotes. OTL

@Wata: When I try replying to a post, the board show the quoted post but not my reply. Not sure if that's been brought up before (I think it has), but I can't remember if it was answered.

I'm guessing you, like me, are using IE. I'm having some of those same issues. Hence the list Wata has above. It seems IE has far more issues with the forum upgrades than other browsers.
