As someone who wasn't present for whatever MastaOfBitches' transgressions are....I gotta say a lot of people are having an unreasonably dickish reaction over asking why Hinata would take Momo's place in a hypothetical crossover. Waaaaay too much name calling for what's a preemptive attack at very best, and flaming at worst. And when the word mature gets tossed around when the opening salvo is essentially 'shut up bitch'....

I think it's a perfectly valid question. I really don't see how casting Hinata in that role really adds to the story. The Hyuuga are relatively well suited to playing the role of the endgame antagonists to regain here body. Swell. Momo was still a corpse and her role can be played by almost anyone.
Shion is probably the best person to fill Momo's role, and Demon Country connections make it easily to shoehorn in the plot of SoTC. But that would practically be a rehash of SoTC. Wouldn't it be better to use someone who doesn't resemble what little we can assume about Momo's personality? At least then the story would tread fresher territory when the identity of Momo's role has actual relevance.

The problem, Hymn, isn't that he was asking the question, it's that he was only doing so to lead into a rant about how horrible and ill-suited Hinata is for doing anything but die in a little corner.

I'll admit that a rant would be annoying, but the interplay between you two isn't what I'd call an improvement. An easier way to derail the rant would be the turn the question on him and ask who he thought would be appropriate. Or hell, ask why and say that this better not be another rant, because if it is then nobody will care.
Of course, if he goes for the rant anyway...well, he's tying his own noose and wasting his time doing it. If he's looking for fights, then just don't feed the troll.
It might be easier for me to say this since I haven't had my nerves worn and honestly don't care about Hinata, but eh. There are better ways to deal with these situations.

And while I may not have been the nicest person in calling him on his shit, I'm sick and tired of him and his shit. He constantly pulls this whenever Hinata comes up, for as long as I've known him, every single time. If he's ever even ONCE not bashed Hinata when she was mentioned, I must have the luck of the gods to have avoided seeing it.

He could have just as easily asked "Why Sakura?" in the Magica cross over idea.

Aside from that, it was a blatant and unescsarry pairing comment.
But if comments on the other ideas are what you want...
1) I don't know anything about Madoka, aside from Kyuubey being an emotionless creature that creates magical girls, that turn into monsters eventually.
2) I have no idea what that's supposed to be a crossover with, but Sufferdude!Itachi would amusing.
3) As much as it pains me, my knowledge of FFVII comes from the movie, so I don't actually know that plot of the game...

Maybe I'd have a different opinion if I'd been more directly affected by his rants pushing interesting debates off topic, but in this case, it was all you and a boatload of accusations. If you want to cut off a rant before it starts, there are subtler ways to do it that saves face for all involved.

Although, from what I hear, Madoka herself becomes pretty useless, much like Sakura was in part 1.
And why does the love even need to be named? Why not leave it ambiguous? Surely it's possible to write a fanfic where the love interest is never mentioned by name, or given a description.

Eh. I'd say you went for a more vulgar and direct route than what I suggested. Were I in your position with your apparent dislike, I say just give him enough rope to hang himself with. If you're right, you're in a more favorable position. If you're wrong, then you didn't cut him down in the middle of a valid question. I just don't have the first hand experience to determine which is more likely.

True, I have seen fanfic where there was an ambiguous love interest. The reader is only given the gender of the character, but no other telling details. Though the only example I could possibly think of offhand is an old lemon.
BTW, MoB. Was one of the gifs in your randomizer the Blue Gokaiger vs. Green Zyuranger? Cause if so, then that was one of the most awesome clips I've ever seen.
