Danzo is actually a timetraveling Naruto, and Madara is one of his Kage Bunshin. So was the Yondaime. And Zabuza. And Jiraiya. They're actually all Naruto, who was the Sage of Six Paths, but got thrown forwards into the timestream as a result of his dojutsu.
. . . . you know, that actually doesn't sound half-bad. Especially if the various Naruto's have varying degrees of amnesia. It could be an interesting story. Especially if you nerf Naruto by saying that dividing himself up into ultradense clones has also divided his power.
Though if you wanted to go that route, youÆd logically need to include one more individual, so Naruto really could be the æSage of the Six PathsÆ. Zabuza is one, Naruto as he is in canon is two, Madara is three, Yondaime is four, and Jiraiya is five.

Or maybe it's not seven paths, but six divergent paths? That could work, assuming you wanted to do it that way, because instead of there being only six paths, there's six paths branching off from a main one (i.e. the "seventh path").

When you think about how they teased Iruka's death before Kakashi saved him in 420 I can see Tsunade surviving this now and killing Koharu and Homura (although I think Danzo will survive). It would be classic Naruto for him to intercept the death blow Pein is about to deliver to Tsunade in a manner similar to how he killed Jiraiya and then managing to unleash unholy Sage Form hell on piercing boy.
Actually that would be a good starting point to the redemption of the manga. Naruto acting like the Naruto we remember back during the Tsunade retrieval arc, but at a higher level and taking out guys he should have no chance against.
