Yeah. Some reason I didn't think about a Rukia situation on why someone would be away for a year or so. Strange even more given that I know someone else right now is in the same situation. And once he's back, would also be back on TFF in some capability.
Though in my piss poor attempt of getting my point across, I was thinking more along the lines of people that register, never make a post, and then disappear. IF anyone has to be removed, then yes, I could see them being the ones to be removed. I mentioned I didn't think of why people would spend a year offline, only to come back to of all sites TFF (since we all know TFF is the greatest site in the world after all and that will be everyone's prority. /sarcasm
). However...
What if the reason why they haven't been around is due to Rukia's situation and they do intend to contribute? And again, I don't think there is any performance issues for having a ton of members. I'm more concerned about trolls than I am of 'ghost' members. And with trolls, well that's after the fact situation right there. Nothing to do with ghost members. <_<

Yeah, except for the fact that as far as I know, there is no other way to deal with it besides doing what Hawk is doing. Proxy + totally different membername = a completely different person as far as the internet is concerned.
Hawk saying he's closing down membership until he figures out a way to handle it is him saying he's closing down membership forever, because that's the only way to keep persistent trolls out. There is no other way to cockblock ban-evaders than to shut down new membership, but that has the side-effect of cockblocking everyone else who wants to join.
So the question then becomes, do we want screw over many innocent in order to nail a guilty few? I say no.

No clue, the only thing I've put on the ban list is ip-adresses, no e-mails, usernames or anything of the sort.
I guess you could try clearing cookies, if invision somehow stores away previously used ip-adresses in a cookie and it somehow spots that, but it sounds like a VERY odd possibility to me. But otherwise I can't really think of a reason why you still would have to use a proxy.

I'd like to point out that given what both you and I have been up to while Hawk was absent, it's a miracle we didn't both get domain-banhammered as soon as he came back, and maybe, just maybe, neither of us should push our luck by complaining about what Hawk does, no matter how inconvenient it may be.
Besides, I'm pretty sure jacking someone else's account just because you dislike them isn't exactly the type of thing that should be rewarded. Even I don't sink that low, and I'm far from being a nice person.

I don't know where you've been in the last few YEARS (I could have sworn you were a regular poster, but maybe it was your evil twin posing as you or something, so I'll just give you the benefit of doubt... :snigger: ), but anyone who's been here regularly can confirm to you that as unpleasant as I can be, I'm not as abrasive as Raine and more importantly I'm not a dick to EVERYONE WHO DISAGREES WITH ME, only those who really piss me off, and so far only Raine's actually managed to make me go into a hate-filled rant.
Nothing I said was a flamebait attempt, anyway, just the truth. Raine DID jack an account (hell, he admitted it himself), he DID repeatedly post insulting answers towards people who disagreed with him - not just me, pretty much everyone active on this board, including you, has been one of his victims at some point - and in fact, he's posted more rules violations than anyone else in this forum me included, up to and including that grotesquely NSFW sig that he blatantly refused to remove and insulted people who asked him to remove it over, and it took HAWK COMING BACK to finally make him cave in and get it the hell off the board.
I freely admit that I'm still annoyed at him over that sig bullshit, and I'll also admit that my behavior has also been banhammer-worthy, if nothing else because I got tired of his shit and started firing back just as harshly, which put me on the same level as him and I probably should've known better, but that doesn't excuse his own behavior in the slightest, and quite frankly, if I was in his situation, I'd count my blessings that I CAN still log into the board with a proxy at all and consider this the price to pay for all the shit I've done.
None of this, by the way, would have happened if he hadn't jacked someone else's account to begin with, and it would be deserved regardless if it had been intentional.

Also, not to make too fine a point of it, but if a troll account posts his password to use and you ACTUALLY TAKE AND USE IT, and then the troll gets banned and your IP also gets banned for being used by the troll account, then you have only yourself to blame for taking the painfully obvious bait and not thinking of what'd happen if, y'know, the absent admin decided to return and instabanned the offending account and all the IPs associated with it.
