Ranma ½ [Ranma ½] Miscellaneous ideas.

This is only a seed, and not much of one. It needs a story to surround it, but I don't have that story, and I don't know what that story should have in it.
- Anyway, the seed: Ranma learns to generate lightning with his chi.

What's next, or what came before it? I haven't any idea. I just think it would be a neat thing to see in a fanfic.

Heh... Want to see Ranma as a Sith Lord with Force Lightning or something? Kidding...

Hmmm... IIRC, didn't Ranma sort of make an electrical attack attempting to combine Mara's attack with the magic of Jusenkyo in 'The Demon's Contract' by Ringmaster?

Yeah, he did. So I'd like to see it in something new.

Analyzing comedies often leads to issues like that. Too many idiot balls.

EDIT: Of course, even a comedy still requires some suspension of disbelief, but it should probably be taken less seriously than a more serious story - unless you want to do a fic exploring the result of Akane figuring out that Ryouga is P-chan fairly early on.

Worse, since we know for a fact that Genma and Soun knew about Ryoga's curse, which is downright criminal, and probably would result in some honor issues were it all come to light.

Honor in Ranma is pretty much whatever Rumiko needed to make a gag. One CAN make the argument that because Soun never did anything about the HH that that takes precedence over the Joining Of The Schools. Ago the Logic is pretty weird but it goes like this: The pledge clearly takes precedence over Kuno's deceleration right? And yet Soun never did anything about it, therefore Akane can not be chosen to fulfill the pledge. This is the same logic that gave me the idea that caused Ero to write Senpai.

The real interesting thing? This leads to the idea of Akane waiting for Ranma with baited breath because then Kuno has NO grounds to attack her, or at least do so and retain his honor, and then Ranma shows up with the curse, Akane is pissed because Kuno will use this to declare the pledge invalid.

Prove he's even aware of it. The so-called attacks you are making such a vast, overpowering issue of had been going on for less than three weeks when the manga started.

You're right that is a potential failure point, but I find it hard to believe that she didn't complain about it at home. It is also my understanding is that it is excepted wisdom that Akane's anti-boy attitude came about from the attacks and while Soun generally doesn't do unless it effects the joining of the Schools, Akane turning lesbian does actually fit the bill there. Beyond that there's the rumor mill, which should get things to him in time, I'm sure there's a canon incident of him showing up awfully quickly to 'remind' Ranma and/or Akane of the pledge.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but the level of negelct it requires is higher then normal for Ranma

Two new ideas:
1) Soun's wife died in a Martial Arts related incident. This could explain why he stopped teaching his daughters but for some reason not teaching in general. (Yes, I know it's weak, but you come up with an explanation for why he stopped teaching his daughters but not in general, otherwise you end up with them living off a trust or Nabiki the bread winner).

2) Shampoo feeds with a Love Potion Purgative somehow and they experience a reaction. Note that this is A reaction, they might not have been under the effect of one. (Try telling me Genma and Soun didn't feed on to at least Ranma)

PS: Where did you get the figure 3 weeks?

I am pretty sure Akane said it to Ranma herself. But my memory may be wrong.

Didn't Ranma arrive just after the Japanese school year began. If so, then Akane could only have been attacked for a few weeks at most.

I'll note, a 10th grader being attacked for a few weeks each morning by a horde of guys would likely change near anyones mood and attitude.

Yeah. He and his dad returned to Tokyo about a month into the new school year, and Tatewaki had made his insane declaration a couple weeks into it.

It was never something that had been going on for ages, and anyone who says so is wrong.

On the carrying an Idiot Ball front, you can argue that Akane carried one since Ukyo's introduction, almost 78% of the series. I don't think the view required for this is generally accepted, but you can make that argument.

For an actual idea, how would Ranma and Ukyo react if the members of their class called Akane a pervert?

Wasn't there a flashback that showed Kuno setting his sights on Akane? Maybe from Nabiki's POV? I seem to recall that...

But yeah, I seem to recall that someone mentioned that the school year had only just begun, during Ranma's second day at the Tendos.

I'm pretty sure Kuno personally had been after Akane for some time before that, probably back in junior high school. As I'm pretty sure it was mentioned at some point he knew the Tendos for some time. But the whole beat her to date her concept was new.

I can't remember any mention about how long the morning fights had been going on or that Kuno had known the Tendos for a long time.

Okay, I'm going to be the dumb one here and ask: What is the HH?

*rolls eyes* Hentai Horde.

Yeah, it's technically fanon, but they need to be called something. Another example is the Kiss of Marriage, the name given to that kiss Shampoo gives Ranma to marry him.

...then why not just say Hentai Horde? It's what we've been calling them for the last 20-some odd years in fanfiction, not reducing them to an acronym. What next, ATSMA?

Because some are snobbish in their use of nomenclature.

Why not just call them "the bunch of idiots" or "the bunch of perverts" or something like that, something that doesn't mix languages?

Probably for the same reason you sit on this forum whining about other people's fics and never actually writing shit.

IE. You a lazy hoe

An idea that just came to me: what would Ranma be like if he was the reincarnation of Gilgamesh from Fate? I'm not saying he should have the king's memories (or at least not all of them), but it might be funny if he could pull the kind of sh!t Gil does with random NPs.

(A few days after Cologne pulled the Cat's Tongue maneuver, Ranma finally snaps. He says 'screw it!' and conjures up the ancient version of the Phoenix Pill, which is possibly much more potent than the new version.)

Look up the term Outside Context Problem, then understand why your dumb idea is boring as shit.
