My SoD is immediately shattered by one simple thing: why the fuck do boy and girl Ranma not have the same haircut ?

A boy changes into a girl with the application of cold water and this is what you're having trouble believing? :blink:

Ranma's one feature that NEVER change between his male and female form is the shape of his hair. That actress has straight hair covering her forehead while the guy's are swiped to his left. Those are not the same haircut.

If they can't even get the characters appearance right... :no:

If you assume something will be bad, then on the rare occasion that it is good, you can be pleasantly surprised; and when it is bad, you are not disappointed.

I thought the 1995 game-to-film adaptation of Mortal Kombat did a pretty good job on its limited budget. I don't know if you've seen that though.

Yeah, I've seen it. Not bad but it won't win an Academy award. Although, if you compare it to Street Fighter andDragon Ball Evolution...

It is not a 100% failure in conversion from anime to live, but it is pretty high. I have little hope for a live action Ranma being one of the exceptions.

I liked the 2010 Space battleship Yamato...

I cannot remember if it was here or Fukufics, I commented that I lthought the live action you're Under arrest acceptable...

On the other hand... most of the other stuff I've seen adapted from their respective anime to live has been dreadful.


Games have a similar track record for me...

I liked the Wing Commander movie, but despised the ships, shich outright sucked (I do not care if they could not make it as good as game ships, they could have done better than altered WWI and WWII prop planes)

I liked Mari Brothers... though almost the entire world seemed to hate it.

If the actresses for girl-Ranma and/or the Tendo sisters have nude scenes (assuming they're legal), it probably won't be a total waste.

I suspect they'll be keeping covered, but we can hope.

Actually, I liked the Super Mario Bros. movie, even though some of the scenes and concepts were odd-usual.

Then again, it's kind of hard to write a live-action story about a video game where nearly none of the characters are human on a $48 million budget (<a href='http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Mario_Bros._%28film%29' target='_blank' rel='nofollow'>and even then they were overbudget :\</a>).

Depends on your standards I guess... Live Action Sailor Moon I felt far worse than this as far as images go... heck... Luna was a stuffed animal... and the crappy hairstyles... bleagh... In comparison even Soun and Genma panda look good.

I'd say it's more modernizing the hair than anything, which was one of the things that threw me off about Kasumi's appearance.

Well, for what it's worth, it looks like Akane is being played by the girl who played the female lead in Kamen Rider OOOs, and she was a pretty good actress in that. It remains to see how well her talents there will translate to this, though.

I like how they are apparently hit by enough cold water to transform into their cursed forms, yet they're not the least bit wet afterwards.
