To a degree. I find the interaction with Harry boring as all hell. Harry in this story is really bland and as Wednesday mentioned in one of the recent stories entirely unmotivated compared to what she, Xander, Hermione and Willow have been doing.

Pretty much, Harry is really really powerful, and doesn't feel like doing much with it.

In other news, The Terran Jedi updated to chapter 64.

Well Harry has gotten a kick in the ass on that score over the summer, and now he's sparring with Xander in the Room of Requirement. He's also been shown how inventive his parents were and that should inspire him to at least atempt to start researching magic that's not strictly school related.

No, he sparred with Xander because he is now vulnerable to duelist challenges. More to the point the one scene we did get to see his thought process after the sparring started he was pretty proud of himself for what he was doing. I doubt Harry will ever really learn the love of magic that those other four have though he might learn some things if only to be more like his parents.

Again Harry is totally uninteresting as a character in this. RON for all that he appears in like 3 scenes or something is a more interesting and appealing character. Draco is himself by far even if his main use so far has been verbal sparring and exposition on political realities in this wizarding world.

Harry is, at best, a tertiary character. You know its true when I feel like I know more about Willow's parents, who had all of like 2 direct lines, than him.

Which is a point, I'd much rather have Harry how he is now than have the story gradually verge into a story about Harry and this guy he knows named Xander. The first few years were better than the last one, mostly because Xander and Wednesday did their things, and Harry was someone they interact with like once. Not sure why Tenhawk decided to put them closer this year, but I assume its other than laziness.

Draco...is a tool. But a well-characterized, multidimensional tool.

Hmm...part of it i bet is goign to be to do iwth that shield spell Xander is working on though hardly mentioned, facing somebody with oodles of power who can apparently shatter Xadner's shield spells almost negligently is going to basically force him to dodge a lot more or learn to create altered shield spells that actually WORK.Part of it is probably more to do with politics which considering I'm thinking the 'shadow council' is that group of men Dumbledore was seen leading in one of the chapters after the Scene with Harry and the Baron (who were commenting on Sirus's asylum in the US) is probably pretty important tot he overall story.

I assumed that was a meeting of the ICW, since they referred to Dumbledore as
"Supreme Mugwump".

I thought the 'Shadow Council' was just the Watchers...

Harry suffers from a crippling desire to be 'normal'.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Shadow Council is whoever it is behind the Lavelles.

i wouldn't exactly call that sitting has updated

i will repeat my previous statement.á i am loving this version of Harmony
A little late there arent ya?
i post them when i notice them and its only been a few days (last time two weeks had passed.)
He started a new story called Copy Cat a day before that update and it has just recently been updated to Chapter 3.

Summary: YAHF where Xander decides to create his own character from a bunch of partial New Mutants' outfits.

Updated to chapter 4.

Whatever you say about him, mostly having to do with never finishing fics, dogbertcarroll does get to the point he's writing for. Now if he'd write more New Lamps for Old, A Boy in the Hand, or Lacking an Anchor.

He's got two other fics on his page that have been updated, recently: Flickering lights (which is an anthology), and Copyright Infringement. Both are worth reading.

Have to say I dislike Copyright Infringement, it just seems excessively contrived.

i think it is supposed to be a bit cracky.

that being said he seems to have a serious ax to grind where Buffy is concerned.

as much as i get annoyed with the constant repetitive bagging on buffy and willow(it's almost the same rants repeated every story) what's actually got my ire is what he does with Cordelia. he writes the most contrived shit out of the blue when it comes to cordelia and getting her out of the way, i mean the one with dawn and ted, parents paid her to break up with xander? or in copy cat where suddenly she's bumping uglies with larry the gay pirate? or in his strange bedfellows fic where out of the blue there's a claim that cordelia cheated on xander as well.

dogbertcarroll What the fuck man? seriously i get it you don't like cordelia anywhere near your xander-sue's but making shit up to make her look bad? just slapping it in there with no basis in canon or no build up in story? i mean the shit you heap on other characters at least has a solid basis in canon even if it's exaggerated, but almost every single piece of crap you pulled when it comes to cordelia is built on a foundation of quicksand that pisses the hell out of me.

the (i wouldn't call that sitting) cordelia is still fairly likable (but i am more of a fan of that stories Harmony)

oh i know that, the problem is the excuses, the reasoning and lengths he goes to in setting this stuff up. sure he gets cordelia's snark and attitude down, and in 'sitting cordelia is fairly likable but seriously the abandoning xander for money and a house taints that portrayal. most of all it is pure authorial handwavium because cordelia was in his way of a desired pairing. see i'll admit to liking cordelia a lot but the truth is i accept and don't mind xander and cordelia breaking up, or never even getting together as long as it is in character and follows a logical progression from start to that end result. what happened in 'sitting' was not in character or logical but just thrown in.

in my mind if dogbertcarroll has time to think up such a poor excuse, he has time to come up with something better

i personally take that sort of thing very serious as it's a short step away from the path of authors like Razial who i hate for the absolute batshit twisting of canon and the characters so he can peddle his dark god!xander/Tara/Jenny Calender crapfics

Well I went searching for some fics in the old Buffy section of fanfiction and found something!

Thicker Than Blood

Xander and Dawn, living in Colorado Springs trying to form some sort of life for themselves while Buffy is off and away. Now if it wasn't for the normal everyday problems... But no, it's highscool, boys, jobs... NID, Goa'uld, Clones and Cults!

Buffy's character is off but then again its not, not really. Hard to explain but then she's not an issue in this fic its all about Xander and Dawn and no they are NOT dating. pretty good all things told it kept me reading until the end and I'll wait for an update.

Nodakskip wrote a fic called Shifting Phases about Cordelia being the one infected by lycanthropy. Tis an awesome read. In fact, read everything Nodakskip writes; he's very good.

I couldn't get into it. I read it a long time ago, and thought Xander was just acting to stupid.
