The last post I see by you is in A Stranger on the Frontier (ST:DS9 SI).

Well besides word for word scenes from the show...

What was the reactions of Bajorians in general after it comes out that Swan, a human most likely saved the Kai's life three or four times and lost his arm in the process of protecting her again, when both Kira's and the Kai's stories come out?
We pretty much saw that, at the start of the chapter. They liked and respected him before, and now his stock has really gone up.

Hmm, OK. So whatever error Merc caught, they fixed it.

Yeah... it was probably just xenforo spazzing out and not showing the recent posts.

I will say I think the ban was unneccesary. People in the thread already had said "dude. thats weird/too far/No. just no."

Honestly the only way the ban would have been warranted is if you had kept bringing it up. bleh. The downside of moderation especially with a rather vague rule. Up to personal interpretation.\

Edit: Temp ban or an outright ban?

It's probably a temporary ban, not sure how long it would be for though

I only just realized.

The mod didn't even get rid of the unacceptable content in the post.

They never do, that's why I don't like how they do it. They need to first give the guy a chance to explain themselves and to delete/edit whatever post they made, it's much more efficient in keeping the threads free of the creepiness that they despise than simply banning the guy and leaving his stuff there forever.

Hrm, I wonder if I'll be banned for this.

Nah. You can argue with mods, even about their own decisions. I've had long discussions with this particular one before, he's the newest mod and still somewhat overzealous.

The whole ruling was crap. I've seen much worse go unnoticed or not cared about on that very same forum. Seems to me like a case of power hungry mod.

I went through the complaint procedures, and talked to Thanatos. Since I thought Kensai was being an ass about the whole thing..

He said it wasn't a permaban? Kinda better?

...wow. Just wow.

That is utter and complete bullshit.

I mean seriously 'this has potential to go into areas where we don't want on our forum.' give that warning and the person gets it. If they continue, sure, ban them. But goddamn, if material is bad enough to ban someone over, then it should be removed.

If its not removed, its not bad enough to be banned over.

IT LITERALLY IS THAT FUCKING SIMPLE.

All that banning someone, yet leaving what they were banned over up, is sending the message 'we can ban you for any reason and that reason is you're a "creeper".' Which, as this incident proves, is a blanket term for someone to be banned for something that makes people 'feel creeped out.'

I guess that means horror stories and the people that post them, along with any series that has underage characters should be banned out of principle, too, because that is 'creeper territory.'

Fuck that.

I'm actually tempted to go and report any and all stories that involve any harry potter or underaged anime character story there that has the potential to be dark because 'it makes me feel creeped out.'

They'd ban you for spamming I'm sure.

On another note I've just Posted on Sage of Toads's TFF back up site. I'm pondering rerunning my original PokeQuest there if the numbers pick up.

For the most part, I have zero problems with spacebattles mods but holy shit this case is retarded beyond words.

Kensai has banned me twice. He's ban-happy.

It also doesn't help that his bitch of a wife, merino, has him by the balls. Do or say something merino doesn't like, Kensai bans you.

This is basically what happened to Psyckosama's Keeper Quest. The concept of a slavery ring using mind control and how we should deal with the situation as a Dungeon Keeper. Peoples got "creeped out" by the concepts portrayed and the thread was locked and renamed "Creeper Quest" to ass insult to injury.

Apparently the mods maturity level is firmly stuck in the 9 years olds brat range or something.

I believe I mentioned that several times earlier in this thread, yes.

Also, hilarity! I just got an email (actually it was dated for last month, but apparently it only just arrived in my inbox now) saying I was banned again by SuperS4 for a post I made in 2011. For breaking a rule that, if I remember correctly, hadn't even been created yet when I originally made the post.

A note: I haven't posted on SB since last year. Why they felt it necessary to ban me again, I have no idea.

Okay, now THAT's ridiculous. The others I could sort of see, but this? Completely absurd. A part of me wants to PM SuperS4 and ask him just what the hell he's doing (in polite terms, of course).

Why don't you? I it is pretty ridiculous... I mean seriously, the post is over extremely old..

I'd dispute it just on principle...

As far as I can tell from examining the thread, the topic got bumped back to activity with new info a few months ago, and then last month SuperS4 noticed my year and a half-old post and simply laid out a ban without bothering to check when the post was made.

Not to mention it was the "Spacebattles is not a Chan" rule I 'broke', and apparently that rule can apply in any situation a moderator feels it should. Much like the "creeper" rule.

Even if it wasn't that still wouldn't be a reason to ban someone.

SB mods. The majority of them hand out bans like candy, particularly to people they don't like. No doubt they hope some schmuck tries to ban evade through a sockpuppet so they can upgrade it to a permaban regardless of what the original offense was. And that's when they don't just permaban you outright for little or no reason - South Dakota Boy, I think it was, may have been a gigantic asshole, but I don't remember him actually doing anything against the rules before Reaperman decided "No one likes you, enjoy your ban". While ignoring, for example, hyperion51 and Avernus and MisterMackey, who were just as bad as SDB half of the time.

The thing is, I know it's not a permaban, and if I were able to complain, I'd mention that I knew that. The problem is that I got banned for something that wasn't as bad as things others have not gotten banned for (according to someone in this thread), that was intended to get a non-sexual response, and that I don't recall ever getting a warning. If anyone else wants to go to the trouble of complaining, I really want to know what, if anything, I got a warning for, and when I got it.

If I didn't get a warning, then I should not have been banned, based on the rules posted at the top of every page on SB.com (EDIT: Unless I'm remembering wrong).

On another note, talking to Thanatos about anyone banned for being a 'creeper' is a bad idea, but I don't know if you had a choice about that. Thanatos, well, I would not have been surprised if he told you I was lucky not to be permabanned (maybe he's not that bad, but he seems to be a bit nasty about anything that he sees as creepy, whether anyone else does, or not).

I have some bad news for you: Spacebattles' mods don't follow those rules. They just expect everyone else to do so.

Yes, but they should. I'm reasonably sure Reaperman, at least, tries to follow the rules, and I think he's been an admin longer than Thanatos.
