If you're going to go like that, why not have Lee Harvey Oswald as Assassin? He's got more notoriety than Hassan-i Sabbah does nowadays.

I'd imagine his noble phantasm would be a sniper rifle and a phantasm that makes people think the attack came from somewhere else.

The latter would be called Grassy Knoll.

Ignoring EMIYA for a second, it doesn't work like that.

For one thing, the assassin class, with the exception of Caster's Assassin, are always picked from the 19 Hassan i Sabbah. FSN Assassin is an anomaly because Caster summoned him, rather than being summoned by a human.

Second, while there are still "heroes" in modern times, they don't meet certain qualifications to be considered heroes in the way that Gil and Hercules are. The fact that information is more exact makes it near impossible to gain "fame" in the way that the old legends worked.

From what I understand of what F1 explained to me, the issue is that the spread of information is much more sure now, than it would be back when Arturia and other heroes were around. So, I don't think it would work.
