As interesting as the background between Nene and Isshiki is, I'm rather interested about Isshiki's certainty that Souma is going to win his match against Nene. I'm curious where the confidence comes from.
And Alice wants to know what everyone are talking about when they talk about Isshiki's "naked apron" thing...I kind of understand just *why* they don't want to say anything, but I would have thought the words were...pretty blatant in their meaning.

The judges were introduced in this chapter, and we're still not sure what Souma is cooking. Nene's seems to be traditional, if high quality, stuff.
I kind of liked it when the crowd was getting uppity and the judge who was giving Souma compliments in the most insulting manner imaginable to shut up. That was great.

It also shows you the fundamental problem with the new doctrine. And I think there was a scene during the testing, too. The new generation of chefs Central wants to push out to the world are basically recipe followers that don't understand the theory behind the cooking. There was a kid in the test asking why they they were doing this next step for their dish, and the other just said "I don't know, because it's in the recipe and the Chairman said so".

That was pretty impressive move from Isshiki. Which makes me wonder. Did he just lack the motivation to challenge for a higher seat, or did the guys above him just not see him as a threat? Nene apparently was all for a shokugeki, but it seems she was the only one to even entertain the notion.

The former of the two, I think. Isshiki just doesn't care too much about anything at Tootsuki aside from Polar Star Dorm, its tenants and his plantation on its land. The Elite Ten position is mostly something he kept onto for the sake of it giving him clout to be able to skive lessons and such in order to spend as much time on his own projects as possible.

Trash talk from the commentator, still have no clue just what type of chef the former 3rd Seat is, other than badass. Azami is chill, though, unfortunately, he's got the right to not be concerned just yet.

Azami has always been the kind of type who reacts to getting punched in the face with a confident laugh, though it really doesn't matter just yet.
Of course if they lose Rindo or Tsukasa they are FUCKED.
Megashima, with his talk of power and strength, probably has a lot of "bold" flavor type of cooking.

Okay, this set the stage for the next chapter, and it's going to be really interesting to me. Kuga apparently got his wish and earned a match with Tsukasa. Megishima is going against Rindou. Hopefully this one is actually shown, and we finally get an idea for just why she earned the 2nd Seat. And then we have the Ultimate Stalker against the samurai wannabe 5th Seat.

Really interesting depending on how the author plays it. A 3-0 sweep on the backswing for Central would be about the most boring and terrible way to follow up on the first round's results, but it also seems to be the obvious track and Tsukuda is not known for plot twists.
I'm hoping for Mimisaka to show something, since it appears Kuga and Megishima are toast.

Mostly focused on Kuga and his motivation, but damn, talk about cold. I mean, Tsukasa didn't even remember Kuga's name without being prompted.
Rindou is looking...mighty enthused with this, if her expression in choosing the theme and that last page is to go by. (Also...alligator as an ingredient!? WTF is that?!)
