Shokugeki no Souma

New chapter is up in Mangastream.

So Rindou is the type to go all over the world and pretty much eat new and strange things, and as long as they're delicious, she's going to use it as an inspiration. Reminds me of Jouchirou with his wandering chef thing. (...seriously, that conference with Souma, Rindou and Sadatsuka would be...really freaking weird. :sweating: )

Megishima is apparently a ramen specialist. Makes me wonder how he'd use red peppers in that.

5th Seat and Mimasaka have tuna as a ingredient. Makes me wonder how the Stalker intends to gain an upper hand here.

The match between Rindou and Megishima is heating up (literally, considering the ridiculous amount of red peppers they're using).

Damn, Megishima actually refused to join the rebels initially...what changed? We'll likely see it in the next chapter.

Oh, and it's official, anime gets 3rd season.

Geez, Azami doesn't even bother being subtle in his ambition, does he?

Well, at least Souma got something out of that figurative trashing he endured from Megishima. (I'd be really disappointed if he didn't...)

That was a pretty good chapter for once as the story went back to its strength instead of relying on fiat alone

I was actually wondering when the support aspect of this Shokugeki was going to come into play. Whether it will help or not is anyones guess.

Personally, I'm betting on not.

Prolly won't. Though it'd be wild if the rebels straight swept 8 - 0

...would be nice if it did, but I don't really see that happening.

I'm not going to make any firm conclusions other than the fact that Tsukasa is likely to win here. I mean, he isn't likely to make the same mistake as Nene did in her match with Souma.

Tsukasa doesn't look anywhere but his match so yeah.

Actually, Tsukasa made a worse mistake than Nene. His confidence in Kuga not learning is hubris in itself, especially when he didn't take into account Mimesaka's copycat skills could be used as a perfect support for any of the rebel chefs. In the case of Kuga, the recipe he had in mind may need more time to cook than allowed. So Mimesaka likely started making the last preparations separately in his match so that Kuga could finish in time. It's actually something that only a person like Mimesaka could do as a support. So Tsukasa would be thrown by this concept.

Amusingly, I think Rindou is the only one of the Azami Elite Ten that actually might get the point of this particular kind of Shokugeki. But she's likely aware that everyone else is too focused on their own cooking.

It'll help, yet it won't be enough to reverse the obvious outcome. That's what I'm betting. Kuga doesn't actually need to win for the power of the teamwork aspect of the RdC to be put on display. If he manages to not be entirely outclassed by Tsukasa as he would normally be on account of the assist, then that should be enough. Especially should he manage to snag one of the judges' votes and only lose 1-2 to the First Seat.

I'm calling that to happen, and for Megishima to upend Rindou. Mimisaka loses to Saitou as well, giving Central a 2-1 win on paper for this round. But with the Second Seat going down and the First only barely escaping against an opponent that he 'should' blow out of the water, it almost feels like more of a win for the Rebels and keeps their momentum rolling.

...I really have mixed feelings about Mimasaka's upgrade. Anyway, at least Tsukasa seems to be finally taking Kuga seriously.

Damn it, can't wait for the next chapter. I want to see who gets judged first...

Huh, so Mimasaka practiced imitating all of Central's Elite Ten. Whether it did him any good is up in the air.

Well, next chapter is probably going to be more than interesting enough, especially now that Saitou started serving first.

New chapter is out and if that is a dessert by Tsukasa, the Elite 10 have shown they were secretly working together.

Of course, we'll see if they can dodge the curse of First.

If anyone is going to suffer from the curse of First, it would be Soumei.

But damn, I didn't expect them all to just come in and present their dishes, the chaos present is rather ridiculous.

We'll see if the judges are up to the task.

The editors at Jump are probably like "GET THE FUCK ON WITH IT, YOU GOT MORE SHIT TO DO."

This shit's got more padding than Yoshino's bra after watching Ryoko bounce around.

Well...I didn't expect that. Central just matched the Rebels last score.

Now how will Souma and the others answer?

Yeah, that was probably the worst way the author could have handled that. Teamwork was supposed to be the rebels' trump card, and he took a big ol' dump all over it by not having them even manage one single vote in any match during the round they brought it out. Now we're ultimately going to be expected to buy that Isshiki and a bunch of First Years are to prevail over those circumstances. Tsukuda made that sell a whole lot harder here.

But I'll forgive if Souma has that Asura gene in him somewhere and now is when it comes out to play.

Ishiiki and Erina are gonna be more than enough to win, so it's basically down to Soma overcoming one other person.

Takumi and Megumi shouldn't even be here and it's fucking pathetic that someone like Kurokiba got Worfed.

But hey, unsatisfying conclusions that don't make sense are part and parcel for this shit.

Nice, they announced that anime is getting a 3rd season. We'll see how that goes.

Also, it seems that while Central won, it cost them. Tsukasa is definitely out for the next bout, Rindou and Soumei are "maybe out" so that leaves the author one extra since the only fresh members for the Central are Eizan and Momo.

Of course, if Souma is to be believed, it will be him, Takumi and Megumi from the Rebel side for the next bout.

Well, I'm hyped at least. Don't know how the rest of you feel, though.

I hope Souma avoids Momo in the upcoming round. He'll lose that one, as opposed to likely wins against Eizan or a tired Saitou. Going to be...a little annoyed if the main character doesn't even make it to the last round and his two lesser buddies do. After the Elections and other events, I've gotten a little sensitive towards the author's tendencies to make Souma appear the chump on the big stage.

New chapter is out on MS.

>Souma vs Saito

>Takumi vs Eizan

>Megumi vs Momo

Souma just needs to carry it and Takumi should be able to beat Eizan. Megumi is toast so...

Then again the Shinomiya appearance was amazing so whatever.

She should be, but it won't happen that way. Author will bullshit some way to let Megumi win, so as to not put her out of the competition without getting a victory. I suppose it could be realistically workable provided Megumi lucks into an advantageous theme and gets some assists from the other two. Saitou should be in no condition to do anything more than slog through his own cooking and pigs will fly the day Eizan ever does something to help someone else. So Momo is going to be on her own.

If anyone from the Rebels loses this time, it's still going to be Souma. Though I think it less likely now than I did last week, considering the tiredness angle with Saitou. Unless we see that get crapped on the same vein that teamwork did in the previous round.

Of all things, I think Eizan has the best odds of winning his bout. For one thing, he didn't get paired against Souma. This manga rarely does actual rematches, and Eizan knows he can lose to Souma. This would likely make him lose his cool and make bigger mistakes. Meanwhile, Souma likely expects his opponents to improve. If only because he is a sore loser himself.

Megumi has a shot of earning respect from Momo, but the odds are currently unknown as to whether or not she'd win. If there's a sweets or dessert theme, expect Momo to pull in the A-game. Anything else, and Megumi has a better than average shot. Regardless of theme, I suspect Momo will try to utilize her specialty no matter what.

If anything, I thought Eizan was raring to have another go at Souma, but ended up having to match up with Takumi. That's got to sting for the Yakuza wannabe, so he's going to be extra motivated to just smash Takumi and get it over with so he can focus on Souma.

As for Momo vs Tadokoro...I at least expect her to have got something out of being under Shimoniya's tutelage, no matter how last minute it might have been.

I got nothing to say about Souma vs Saito. We'll see how it's handled, I guess.

Well, it was a rocky start between Shinomiya and Tadokoro, but they did eventually get there.

Though I'm a bit confused by that last part. Did Souma get Beef, or Butter? I mean, he said he'd follow Takumi, so I assume he went third, so his ingredient should be butter, but I'm not so sure.

Well, we'll see in the next chapter.
