If you don't already own a copy of Cave Story, and you do like platformers done in Metroidvania style, I heartily recommend buying it on Steam. It's on sale now, too.

Also, if you don't have Audiosurf, it's currently 75% off.

Got myself Civilization V GOTYE and the whole Sherlock Holmes saga. The first is as good as when I cracked it, maybe better, and the Sherlock Holmes series is goooooood. Mystery of the Mummy is mighty fine, I can't wait to get to the Awakened. Sherlock Holmes and Chtulhu Mythos? FTW.

Only thing that tempts me in this one that I don't already have is Prototype.

But this is probably the best sale yet: A lot of the Tom Clancy games are excellent, and at 75% off most will be 5$. Borderlands is also an excellent game, though the PC mulitplayer is through gamestop iirc, so that's stupid. And Skyrim 33% off is a decent start I guess. If you've waited this long though, I'd suspect it will have a better sale as part of a weekend deal or midweek madness later on in 2012.

Seeing how I had seven pieces of coal, I decided to craft them into a gift today. It seemed like a decent idea at the time.

But then it turned into a -50% coupon for Altitude, which is already on sale for $2.49, down from $9.99, and can't be used until after the sale.

:headbanger:

Well, that was a complete waste. Now I'm trying to see if I could trade it off for something, but I highly doubt it.

I'm going to recommend E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy. It's Deus Ex with even more gameplay options and even less comprehensible plot. And 32 PLAYER CO-OP.   :D :yay:

Also, it's $2.50.
I wholly do not recommend the game. The graphics are cwap, it#s about as new-user friendly as being REPEATEDLY KICKED INTO THE GENITALS and it's got a capital SHIT shitty interface.

I have a 50% off Lego BATMAN and 33% Valve coupon I'd like to trade. I'm willing to accept coal as well.

Steam finds me under Curious5

I have a 33% off any Valve game, and 50% off Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. Both are entirely useless, as Valve games are currently 50% off and O:MO is 75% off.

EDIT: Also, these coupons do not apply to items released after Jan 2, and only apply to items bought between Jan 2 and March 1. They are good for two months.

I hope these crappy coupons become useful someday, cause I'd rather have the coal. If you want them for some reason, I'll trade for one coal, one Portal 2 item, or one TF2 item apart from crates.

If you're interested, I have copies of Killing Floor and Borderlands GOTY (with DLC) for trade.

I'm D1398342003 (Numbers) on steam.

I get the feeling Coal is a poor investment, unless you're going to trade it off again right away (I can see demand spiking on the 2nd). Those coupons though will probably be worth something (pot sweeteners or if you can find someone who wants specific games, hats in tf2).

It's more like I'll be unwilling to use the coupons as I will already have the games or I won't want them. Therefore, amassing coal or burning 7 for a random would be useful.

Edit: 50% off Toki Tori. FML

Just a heads up, but the coupons are useable on stuff that's on sale as well, so you could just wait till one of the sales after the next year starts for a even bigger discount.

The X games are.... Honestly, they're a niche series that I find difficult to properly describe. IMO they are an experience that every PC gamer should at least try if you can get it cheap. You may end up not liking it, or unable to deal with the interface/controls or the learning cliff-face.

But if it does click for you... by God you're going to lose weeks of your time to these games and love every minute of it.

Anyway, if your PC can handle it, you should probably start with X3TC or X3AP.

I'm hoping to hear stories of someone who won just train simulator. And all 2000 dollars worth of DLC.

I can't think of anything that I'd really like to win besides AC Revelations. Everything else in my wishlist is just there for no good reason.

I don't think you can get just Train Simulator with all of it's DLCs. You can only get the top 5 or 10 wishlist items if you don't get the grand prize. That means that you'd have to win the first prize and most of the second prizes.

I would be pissed if I got a third prize though. I already have every Valve game that I even have a passing interest in.

With savvy trading, you can turn games into hats.

And then hats into better games!

That. So much.

Though "learning cliff-face" is STILL an understatement. The game is really hard at first, but gets so much better once you can maneuver through the menus while dodging that angry destroyer trying to vaporize you.

That's true, but then you aren't winning them, you're working for them. Plus there's like 80-90 Railworks 2012 DLCs, that's a lot of trading. I just glanced through the list, six of them cost more than the core game. Regularly $40. You'll need quite a few hats for that.

I also have 25% off any Atari game that's up for trade.

Oh, I don't want railworks >_<. I just find it amusing that they charge something on the order of 40 dollars a DLC, totally about 2000 bucks iirc. In all honesty, it looks like a horrible game, and I doubt I would ever play it if I "won" it.

I think I was assuming that they would just include the DLC with the game if you "won" it. Not sure about that though.

I didn't think you did, I was talking hypothetically. And seriously, doing actual work is a better way to get the games anyways.

I wonder about the DLCs too, the only details I can find indicate that you only get the games, not the DLCs. DLCs are treated like games in the Steam store as far as sorting, wishlisting, and purchasing.

It really looks like you only get the items on the wishlist, and some games don't let you put on versions that include the DLCs, such as GOTY editions.

So far I got 20 Objective, crafted 14 coal, got 2 games(GRID AND Streets of Rage 2) and bought 10 games for $38.61 about $3.87 a game.
