Hm...I don't remember if she was one of the person who died (and right now, I'd like to keep it that way instead of going back to check), but considering she didn't appear in Volume 1 (outside when Kirito talked about him partying up maybe?), I'm almost sure that she'd be dead.

While browsing around danbooru yesterday I discovered something interesting.

Volume 5. I'm...torn. Yay more SAO, but I was kind of hoping that Kirito would just have a happy end after volume 4 and they'd just introduce a new character.

What you see there is Kirito's <s>female</s> fuck if I ever trust anything I read on danbooru ever again avatar for the new game which I'm guessing is supposed to be Gun Gale Online (GGO). The new girl here is Shinon (real name Asada Shino), a sniper who uses an anti-material rifle.

I'm really hoping that the feel-good warm fuzzies from volume 4 aren't totally invalidated by this new arc.

EDIT: The title is either Phantom Bullet or Phantom Barrett (making reference to the Barrett M82). I'd bet on the latter more than the former, but who knows.

Alfheim Online may not have been his choice. Haven't browsed that section of the wiki yet but given that he was dead set on finding Asuna at the end of volume 1, it stands to reason that he's discovered the whole deal Sugou set up.

I could be wrong but it's a preliminary guess.

Gun Gale Online seems to be a different case. From what I can tell, it's actually an MMO that is played 'professionally' (indicating PvP I guess). In-game credits have a direct equivalent to yen in the real world.

I wonder how that would work though. Is it like gambling? Everybody pays the monthly and only the top players end up able to make money rather than losing it?

I'd assume that some kind of separate corporate sponsor provides the money and the players duke it out. Roughly how such things happen in real life.
